Castle of Orobas the Prophet Falls to Royal Britannian Guard

January 23, 2010, by Cymidei Fier

At the Skara Brae fairgrounds in Felucca a surly group of murderers, spies and Purity League advocates waited the arrival of the hooded stranger. The message that had brought us together was an incredible opportunity to capture a fabled floating fortress in the lost lands home of Orobas the Goat Prophet. Should the Purity League win on the field of battle the fortress and the power of the Prophet would be ours forever.

Hoof beats sounded on the well trodden muddy pathway that led to the Skara Brae fairground, the hooded stranger debriefed us on the defenses of the fortress. Once within the eldritch walls we began the long ritual to bind Orobas to our will.

Supplies and traps were laid, scouts took their place on the parapets watching for any side of trouble. Outside, the Cartel Faction began patrolling the perimeter of the Castle and soon there was blood to shed. For two long hours the battle between the Purity League and the Royal Britannian Guard raged filling the green meadow with broken bodies

Fortress of Orobas had six corrupted champions, while they lived the doors were sealed with magic so that no mortal could pass. One by one the champions were slain and hundreds of bodies fell by the castle walls. The weak lamented and tried to take shelter in the hills where they were hunted down and slaughtered by the murderous Cartel.

The battle continued until a huge force from Spawner's Incorporated and their allies hunted down and slew the last guardian. In the moment of the guardian's death the crimson gates of the fortress vanished and the pathway to Orobas the Prophet was opened.

Orobas was bound inside the ritual pentacle of blood. While the silver braziers burned the Prophet remained bound to us and his fortress firmly anchored to the Lost Lands.

One by one the attackers of the Royal Britannian Guard defiled the sacred braziers causing their magic to crumble into ash. When the ritual circle was broken, Orobas roared and the Fortress faded leaving nothing but a tattered banner behind to show that it had ever been.

Even though our ritual had been spoiled by the gargoyle appeasers, the slaughter continued until the entire plain was filled with bones, blood and the loot of the fallen.

You're welcome SK, it was fun to share a battle with you guys. It felt like we were at the Alamo waiting for General Santa Anna to swoop down! Too bad we couldn't have kept Orobas and the flying castle around a bit longer. That has to be one of the most creative and fun things I have seen done in a long time. Oh yeah and Ceno, the word Alamo means "cottonwood" in Spanish. :thumbup1:

Hail Sosarians,

Though the battle was an Epic one, the forces of the Purity League were seriously outnumbered. They fought bravely and tirelessly in the face of certain defeat, as most Patriots do and always have when fighting for a cause they know to be Just and Right.

This is the view of one who watched over the conflict with an unbiased Eye. This unseen Watcher saw even more than the conflict and its outcome. Not all of the treasures of the Castle of Orobas went unclaimed.

The Mystic Scepter of Gargoyle Slaying, known as "Gargoyle's Bane," was secreted away by a member of the Purity League.

When word of this reaches the so-called Gargoyle Queen it may well signal the end of any Alliance between the Queens. It may even mean the closing of the Moongates into Ter Mur.

Though the Castle was lost, the war may well have been won by the Purity League. Only time will tell.

OOC P.S. this is a report from a role-player who was at the Battle. The in-game characters and EM's may use it or ignore it

I just have to say... in this event, I did my best to keep up with everyone hacking away enemies and TRYING to keep enemies away from my comrades so they are not slain in trying to heal me and others. HOWEVER... in the process of doing so, I believe I seem to have accidentally attacked someone who was trying to help us. That person, if I am spelling their name right, is Adamantia of [SI]. I have not had any luck of trying to contact this person, and I would like to appologize, because from what I was told, this person was trying to rezurect my horse. For anyone who is wondering, I attacked this person, because in all the confusion and chaos of what was going on and what LITTLE INFORMATION I recieved, I did not know who was friend or foe. And for anyone who is wondering how this happened, it was this person's dragon who had been confused by a corrupted knight which when the dragon was sent over, it made it look like Adamantia [SI] sent their dragon to kill me. I didn't fret too much at first, but it continued to go on as the Corrupted Knight was confusing the poor dragon into thinking that I was the enemy, and THAT is when I attacked Adamantia [SI] thinking that they were sending her dragon to attack me. And one more thing that I MUST add... their name was colored RED and so was the enemy that were pretty much at arms with the main enemy at hand. So once again, I would like to appologize for any trouble that I have caused. And maybe next time we all should get a list of guilds who are friend or foe so the good guys can better organize as I can see the evil players always seem to be able to do, so we all don't run through an EM gate with a well organized "death-brick-wall" for the scattered group of good guys to get ambushed into.

It was a lot easier for us to organize, because it was mostly our own folks to begin with.

That's a great idea though, confusion within the ranks can be dangerous.

Adamantia is indeed a tamer in SI, and she's a great person (and yes, she's Red right now). I'm sure she didn't take it personally, but it was good of you to come forward and admit it.

All sides are blinded by their beliefs. Friends of the Gargoyles and the Purity League fought against one another. However, there was the third and much unknown sect of E.G.O., Enslavement of Gargoyle Offspring. I, Sir Astro, stealthed my way in on the coat tails of FoG snooping and picking my selected targets of both sides. Falling prey to both and still coming back for more. The sides are misguided by their leaders and false notions of fact. I stood alone fighting for enslavement of the gargoyles. Let the magic gates remain open so we can capture and enslave these beasts. Had I been able to solely defeat the hordes of both sides and taken the castle for my cause, mankind would nolonger have to labor endlessly in the mines, fields, or taverns wasting their time that could be used to better themselves spiritually, physically, and mentaly.

Speaking for just myself here, but I want to hear more. The enslavement of Gargoyles is not entirely in opposition to my idea of what Gargoyles are good for.

Don't you even think about jumping ship! I will sit you down in a room, tie you up and rant for hours on end. Trust me, you won't like it. Ask anyone who has listened to me rant in Brit.

This is like threatening him with a good time! Superken loves a good sit down and is a great listener. I warn you though, make your words clear and get them out fast, for his cultural pride will begin to mount and a debate you will soon have. Trust me!!

He may be small (revert to RL Picture thread) but never underestimate the lil fella's who dare not let you see the whites of their eyes!
