What movies is it ok for a dude to tear up to? A couple of the ones that get me every time...

Forrest Gump
Any really sad war movie or documentary (if there is an old vet crying, you can bet that my ass is tearing up...)
La Bamba (when they find out he died in the plane crash and the song 'sleepwalker' starts playing... get me every time!)

ok, so la bamba may be qustionable, but whatever lol. (i watched this yesterday and i still couldnt stave it off... and i really tried too haha)

anyone else got some good ones?

Well i watch a lot of movies and at the risk of sounding less "dudely" i must say that there are a few that get me sad, very few make me tear up.

The Iron Giant. Yes the cartoon movie. If you haven't seen it you wont understand.

Watership down. It is again a cartoon but its about real world problems. Based after a very sad book too.

I recently saw Carriers. Stuff between brothers always gets me as i have 2.

And of course the Fist Ninja Turtles movie! When splinter says all fathers love their sons. Hurts my chest just thinking about it.

Well that may be more than you bargained for but i love talking about movies
I'll look into the ones you talked about though.

But to answer the question i guess its cool to tear up so long as nobody is around or you don't care :thumbup1:

I remember tearing up at Armageddon...but I was also like, 8. Whenever you've had stuff happen in your REAL life that is bad, movies seem kinda moot.

thats normally what makes it sad to me though, is when the movie sequence conjures up feelings from things that you have experienced in the past.

watership down, yeah, that was a good one. it was the one with the rabbits right? but it was supposed to be portraying human society?

a.i. and ninja turtles, yeah, those made the chest tighten up for me a little, but didnt go all the way haha

for the ultimate test, you should watch the whole 'band of brothers' series, and then see if you can make it through the interviews with the real life people that were being portrayed...

vets crying= kryptonite lol

Watership down scared the living crap out of me as a kid. I loved it, but it was really disturbing.. all the blood and foam...

And The wizard of OZ makes me cry. Dunno why. The sweet innocence of it all I guess. The end of the neverending story makes me mist up a bit too.

"Harry! Harry! You can't do this to me! It's my job!"
"You got a new job now, taking care of my little girl. I always thought of you as a son, always. But I'd be damn proud to have you marry Gracie."
:sad2:

But for real, check out a movie from the early-mid 90's called My Life with Michael Keaton. I'm getting all verklempt just thinking about it.

Best of the Best. After the fights when each fighter is complementing the others. Gets me everytime.

I agree with the MASH one also. Gotta add in the final MASH episode. The last 20 minutes is a killer.

There are lots of sad movies, a lot of it depends on your life expeiences. If you know someone with Alzheimer disease I am told the Notebook will break you down. I know One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest pulls at my heart strings, when Chief finally breaks free. Ousiders is good too.

Btw, you are all a bunch of girly men. ;)

Is this a trick question?
Men dont cry at movies. Movies are make believe, and men are smart enough to distinguish between real and make believe. Women however they cry at just about anything.

Bo now knows why there is so much complaining on these forums becuase they are filled with a bunch of biatches. You sissies, crying your little eyes out on a movies.
Bo did almost shed a tear last night when Bo opened some 1 guy 1 glass link from haha. Bo thinks MikeD and Asty cried over that one, oh the horror.

I mentioned it. People that have a family member with Alzheimer's break down with this movie. I'm trying to think of some more...

Milo and Otis
Big Fish(So I hear, never seen it)
Cruel Intentions
Cold Mountain << This was actually a great movie, very under rated and not popular.
Blow. Just the end scene.
Fox and the Hound
From Dusk Til Dawn < Part where the brother says "Kill me Kate...kill me"
American History X How can I forget this one? I was depressed for days after watching it. Top 5 greatest movies of all time.
Gladiator
American Beauty
A Beautiful Mind
Click After the Fonz dies.
King Kong "Twas beauty that killed the beast."
Where the Red Fern Grows
Donnie Darko

I also hear Grave of the Firefly's is soul shatteringly sad.
