I hate how items stack on top of eachother!

This is wrong!

The apples would fall over!

I wish there was an option on the interior decorator tool that would let us rotate objects around so we could place them on tables better!

Or a simple tool that would let us move items 1 pixel at a time so we could put them wherever we wanted! So we could make tables like this!

A simple tool ... more like thousands of new art statics. I mean, maybe I'm wrong here, but this game has three axes (plural of axis to avoid confusion), X, Y, and Z. An art file can be moved on the X or Y, which represent each grid slot in the game, while Z raises or lowers the art tile on the grid. To make this simple change you suggest the art team would have to clone every art file up to 12 or so times, given the apples image, more or less depending on the size of the art.

Great idea, wrong game. Be real easy if this game was 3D, but it ain't.

actually no. It would be the same as the raise lower but with left right. And all of this is already doable and can be seen on certain places unmentionable here.

/EDIT to expand on your theory, you are correct on the x, y, z but x and y are full tiles. within each tile i believe is a 64x64? or 60x60? something like that pixel space.

I could finally play a realistic game of UO Jenga!

Great idea of course, it is actually something I would find so wonderful I don't think it would ever happen. :p

But if you move an item 1 X, it will move it one full tile, so unless your suggesting they start adding decimal places to coordinates, it can't be done.

yes if you move an item one full x it would move a whole tile.

As said in the same post though, its already in the game mechanics to allow this. though the examples are on places unmentionable here. I'm sure the Designers have "official" tools that do the same thing.

You're wrong, it's not possible.

I like it. Far to many times I have wished that I could place an item right where I wanted it.

If they ever did add something like that we'd have to have the paramedics standing next to you the second it went live as you'd have a heart attack from excitement and would need CPR.:stretcher:

Well, if you're right, I apologize to OP for my snap judgment. And I don't know about the unmentionable, so I can't comment there. It is all now the unknown for me, however! since I care less about deco than I do potpourri, my conclusion is let the metrosexual wookies win (just being silly w/ non sequitur jargon), I'll sit this one out for now.

This is a great idea!!!! I'd even be willing to shell out a substantial amount of gold for this as long as it wasn't a "charged" items.

I actually made a suggestion awhile back that would take a little work, but not a whole ton of it. In essence, each item would be assigned a "default" spot in a tile. Then you could move them up and down on the Z axis like you do currently, but then also have like 10 to 15 spots on an X and Y axis as well so that you could better position stuff.

Yeah, it would mean that every item in game would need to have an X and Y location added (of course, they would all default to 0,0 for ease of sake), and they'd probably have to adjust some deco in the game world to match the new positioning system, but the end result would be much greater control over how stuff was placed.

I'll try to dig up later the pics I used as example.

Don't forget to give credit to the freeshard you steal ideas from!
I didn't steal this or any idea from a freeshard. I don't play on freeshards. If I did why would I want this in the real game? I'd be perfectly happy on my lame little freeshard. They do realize it's not their game right? Little :cursing: thieves. I hate freeshards. They don't support UO.

All my ideas come from things I experience in the game. And I am sure hundreds if not thousands of other players have thought the same exact things. I just have so much free time on my hands I am able to put it into picture form and throw it out there.

I think anyone who has ever decorated has thought of something like this. Items hardly ever go where you want them to. And if there was just a way to shift them over just a tad...yeah. Pretty easy concept.

Same with the other idea you allege me of stealing. Obviously someone else thought of it too if it's already been done elsewhere. Because its an obvious thing that should be added.

I am not trying to claim this as my own idea and seek fame or anything like that. I don't care about that. I just want to move my freaking items where I want them. I made this thread out of pure frustration.

It's sad if freeshards already have this concept added. The devs need to stop slacking off and add this stuff! Give people less reasons to play freeshards. (Like anyone needs anymore reasons. If you play a freeshard you are stealing.)

This idea as well as many others are already available on freeshards. However its not due to dev's slacking that we dont have them on EA shards. Its simply because the freeshard community is so much larger when it comes to developers than the EA/Mythic team is. Alot of the projects are open source so you have thousands of developers/script kiddies working on the same project as opposed to the fairly small EA/Mythic Team.

i dont want to start a debate on stealing versus not, but many(not all, not even most these days, but many) of the freeshards are not stealing. Some simple research on Copyright/Trademark law and the Internet/Software Ownership can clear some things up for you.

No it isn't, because it cannot be done.
I'm not going to argue with someone who is so closeminded as to think that EA are the gods of UO development.

You do realize that there are teams of developers out there that have been working on UO for 10+ years with little to no staff turnover right?

There are places out there where you will not find ANY EA graphics within the game, and EVEN dare I say it a full 3D client thats been in development for over 4 years.

Even maps that are much larger than the ML Tram/Fel Maps, also long thought of as impossible due to client restrictions.

It is clear by your answers that you know little about the possibilities available to UO Developers. And I will end it at that.

You and the other Mr. Omnipotent can continue to live inside your little square boxes as long as you like.

I'm not debating anything else than your first claim that items can be placed within sub coordinates, prove it.
