[Imbuing] Artificer templates?

At some point I'd like to start an artificer character and was wondering what templates you veterans have used or are using. I already have a smith character but don't think I want him to be an artificer. Guessing arms lore is important, but what else?

How about a bowcrafter/fletcher/artificer? If I went that route, would an elf be best?

Thanks - this forum and the people on it have been SO helpful to someone returning after a lengthy absence from the game. It's great!

I went with gargoyle for the bonus to Imbuing

mysticism
magery
imbuing
meditation
Eval int
spell weaving

arms lore is not worth the skill points and is not accurate all the time

I went with this because I already had my other crafting skills where I wanted them and mystacism, eval, imbuing go together well !

Imbuing can be looked at from two different sides:
- beeing a craft skill
- beeing a support skill to mysticism

When I can find enough time to do, I want to go for a gargoyle fisherman:
- 120 imbue
- 120 tailoring
- 100 armslore
- 100 fishing
- 100 magery
- 100 eval
- 80 med
That way he can fully support himself.

This is what I'm planning on

120 Imbue
120 Myst
120 Eval
100 Magery
100 Med
120 Stealth
100 hiding

Can do spawns and be a stealthing ninjaresser if my guild gets wiped

(using items to make this skill combo possible)

Mine is 120 smith, tailor, Imbue 100 carp and fletching the rest in magery and something else. He is a gargoyle so I put smith, tailor etc because gargoyles have a bonus to enhancing.

I still have my main crafters with arms lore to make the items to imbue. Only reason I keep it that way is because my one is on another account and can't transfer skills and the other is the second char I ever made and I just can't bring myself to turn him Gargoyle.

So if you could maybe try.

Gargoyle

120 imbue
120 smith
120 tailor
100 carp (don't really need this cause not many use wood armor or weapons)
100 Fletching
100 arms lore
Then the rest in magery to recall and what not.

If you don't buy your resources then you will have to make a chopper and miner. Could put the carp on that char.

Having carpentry on an imbuer is a very nice thing. This is required to craft soulforges for private uses.

is Arms lore required for Imbuing, or only to make exceptional item bonuses for Blacksmith/Tailor/Bowmaking

Arms Lore is useless to someone that is just Imbuing. It adds nothing to your chances and it doesn't increase the mods/intensity you can Imbue.

My template is going to look something like this-

Gargoyle-
120 Imbuing (Obtained finally :))
120 Mysticism (Currently ~105, alread scrolled up)
120 Magery (Need scroll, capped at 100 :()
120 Evaluating Intelligence (Need scroll, capped at 100 :()
120 Meditation (Currently ~105, already scrolled up)
100 Necro (Currently ~98)
~50 or more Spirit Speak w/ the use of +skill items for the other skills (Tome, Imbued ring, etc.) (Locked at 50 atm)

Hoping to make him a real Spawn killer ;)

You are Welcome! I really enjoy this template! The one thing is there are so many spells to choose from it can get confusing I use enhanced client and have 5 bars of nothing but spells! right now I switch fishing and cooking out ( just to work them up) when I am done with them i will add my last permanent skill in!
either
inscription (spell damage bonus)
or
resist spells
or
wrestle (to not get interrupted as much)

I am trying this now, and wondering what to do about defense, I have resist now, but get interrupted a lot. Would a mage weapon work? or is wrestling the answer and should I drop resist?

I dig this idea for a character, but everyone in my guild thinks I am silly for trying this template.

Help me Obi-Wan...you're my only hope!

I run with protection on so i don't get interrupted and I have dci built in to suit of 50 atm and will be adding more !
I have yet to move resist over yet but i may just because of getting poisoned all the time!

i do get mana drained once in a while but with my regen rates and med its only out a couple seconds and really for me has not been a big deal
this template i only use in pvm!

hope that helps

Currently, human

120 Imbue
93 Mystic (maybe 120, some day)
110 Mage (10 via jewels)
110 Eval
100 Med
115 Focus (15 via jewels)
100 Alchemy (which will be stoned when anniversary hits, and I can claim one from vet rewards (grumbles something about EA's crappy website...))

How does one go about evaluating items for imbuing better than ID?
I use a spread sheet with all the values plugged in, and use it to compare against what I already have, as well as what enhancing both before and after an imbue will offer.

My current imbuer has
Imbuing 96 scrolled to 120
tinkering 100
carpentry 100
magery 76
alchemy 100

I haven't had a pure mage ever don't really want one but want to make this guy a little more fun. I like the alchemy and don't want to lose it so I am thinking of adding inscription because I never had one and eval. Or maybe mysticism. Not sure how mysticism is without eval. Any thoughts about this template?
