11th January - Opening match of the chicken lizard season, now with the results!

As promised, we'll be kicking things off on 8PM, Monday 11th January, at the O*T arena by Zento :

The idea is to meet for fights there every two weeks, although there may be slight changes to accomodate Bank Holidays and such.

My intention is to keep a full league running until June, for the battle chicken lizards - keeping it simple, each winner gets one point, and can fight once per evening. I'll have prizes for the top birds, and plan on keeping a regular post on this forum so you can see how the competition is going...

We're also happy to have other fights between pets, for those who want them, although the 'league' will be battle chicken only since that's the best way I can think of to keep some sort of fairness and balance to it!

Rules will be as per the December trial run, since they seemed to work pretty well - this thread contains most of the info, as well as a few other suggestions we will be following up on, including cheap 'startup kits' of eggs, coops and associated materials (might even have some battle eggs available depending on the whims of the RNG..).

After the battles O*T will be running a Winter event next door.

This event is simple, The first person to make it through the tree maze, over the ice patches and into the teleporter wins 500,000 Gold!

Slightly later than intended writeup (and I keep having a paranoid feeling I've got a result wrong, but checking the journal log I think this is correct!), but a quick summary of Monday night's fights :

Pleasant surprise how many people came along, it seems we had the busiest night for events on Europa for years so I feared we'd be quiet, but things worked out pretty well - got through a series of fights, filled the planned hour almost perfectly, and from the sales of starter sets, and requests for the quick guide to keeping chicken lizards, I suspect we are likely to see several more combatants in the near future!

As for results, since it was the first 'point scoring ' match of the season, we can announce the following winners :

Throbbing Gristle defeated Lightning, in a very close match - by the end I could barely see any blue at all in their health bars!

Midnight beat Echo's Battle chicken - if anything, an even closer match! Probably because they were friends, they took the match right to the edge before Midnight finally got the result.

Spot defeated Cyanide - a very interesting match, and another close finish, although Spot seemed to pull some heavy hits out of nowhere right at the end to clinch it.

Snotklap defeated Frosty (I'm reliably informed SnotKlap is Afrikaans for 'Really Hard Punch in the Face' but I'm still calling the chicken Snotty ), a fight that started with a classic few seconds staring match before they began the serious stuff. Frosty tried bravely, but was outclassed....

Nugget defeated Geeko - against all the odds, noticably lower skills and stats but somehow Nugget pulled through! Must remember to get extra hay for Nugget as a reward.

As a finale, we had a 'guest appearance' by a genuine chicken, Mighty Cluck Norris . Diddlysquat, as owner, was interested to see how a trained chicken fared against an untrained battle chicken, so Cerulan drew the short straw and got to compete - or rather didn't, it was something of a massacre. Diddlysquat was kind enough to call Cluck off before Cerulean became a ghost, it was a fast and overwhelming victory for Cluck!

So, the battle chicken victors have one point each, through the season any winner will get one point and since it's planned to end in June, there's plenty of time to get your pets in and have a good chance at the title.

Since there were a slightly smaller audience, and so much going on elsewhere, O*T agreed with the people that they'd postpone the ice maze event, so that's coming soon to keep people busy - meanwhile, I'm sorting through suggestions, requests and thoughts about more potential events (very likely to have a 'mage summons' battle soon, so that would be a chance for any non tamers - and non-GM mages too - to have a bash in the arena), so please keep ideas coming.

One thing we will be trying next fight is a rise in the betting cap to 50k, in increments of 10k. Depending on how much money you take off us by betting on winners, we'll see how that goes

Next match of the season is intended for Monday 25 January, as usual start 8PM UK time - hope to see you there!

Translated, it means that you hit an adversary so fast and hard that they can’t defend themselves, and their body fluids fly out of every orifice. Not a pretty sight, but damned smart when you’re threatened.

It was a fantastic night, all fights were very entertaining. Thanks for running the tourneys you guys and I can't wait for the next one (might have a couple more contenders in tow by then too).

My boys did me proud, they worked hard in training and it looks to have paid off, though competition was fierce. That Cluck Norris fight was insane!
