A question about using Honor

Hi all,

I just finished getting Knight of Honor on one of my chars so he can explore some monstered-up areas. Here's my question:

Do Honor gains "stack"?

What I'm referring to is the fact that Fame beyond Lord does "stack" in the sense that it continues to add beyond gaining Lord. If one of my Lords die shortly after gaining the title, he might go back down. But if he continues to gain fame after becoming Lord, he might die several times before he loses the Lord title.

Is Honor like this? :coco:

No it doesnt stack.
It is mainly used when you want to run past monsters to a safer area or for tamers who try to tame a G/dragon so as not to die, you will get aprox 20 seconds of time to do your run or tame before you become attackable again.
The more you use this the more blue dots you will loose and you will have to then honor again to return to lord.
Hope this helps.

No, you always lose 1 dot when you embrace honor.

When you reach knight of honor, any honor points you gain thereafter are wasted (even though you keep getting the message that you have gained honor).

That also means that when you embrace your honor at knight level, the loss of 1 dot will drop you back to follower.

However, sacrifice can be overcapped to give you a buffer against decay.

The bolded part is incorrect. At Knight you have 5 minutes on the timer, not 20 seconds.

i thought you could gain one bubble above knight, which is suppose to be a buffer when you lose virtue over time.

Hmmm... Well that sorta suks and displays a bit of "lazyness" on the part of the programmers - to continue to give a "gain" message, when in fact there is NO gain - and especially considering the continuation of gains like Sacrifice... Oh well, it is UO afterall..... :coco:

He is correct in that honor does not decay. I just checked by logging onto my oldest char that I haven't played in a couple years and he still was one dot away from being knight in honor. At one point in time he was knight in all virtues that you could get, but those have decayed away long time ago.

Mitz, you may have accidentally used a point at some time - back before the confirmation gump, it was WAY too easy to accidentally Honor self.

Honor does NOT decay.

As far as i know virtues decay, but only while char is online. So it's possible to have Knight of virtues on a char that was left behind for couuple years.

Ahhh right on,that would explain it than. Its a great thing that it doesn`t decay. Takes so long to get that up on certain chars.:thumbup1:

Honor DOES decay, I lost 3 dots from knight by not killing anything for a couple months, No, I didn't honor myself, Just got distracted or something came up when I was on and ended up forgetting UO was open. SO there ya go, honor DOES decay, how quickly, I dunno. I was surprised myself to find 3 dots gone.

Honor does not decay. ~2 years ago one of may chars had 2.6 Honor (I keep a profile on all of my chars). That char has not logged in since and still has 2.6 Honor.

I have Honor on several chars and there are only 2 situations where they lose Honor: 1) when I mean to use Honor and 2) when I accidentally use Honor.

Well, sir, explain to me, how, after logging on one day, I had lost 3 dots of honor without honoring myself? I'm pretty sure that not logging in causes some virtues to not decay as they would if you were logged in, i've noticed it with honor, ie, taking a break for half a year looses all virtues but honor, which remains knight, but actually being logged in for a period of time without gaining in honor would lose honor.

Please believe me when I say I'm not trying to be rude here, just want to clarify that I'm not missing anything.... soooo, how exactly do you "accidentally" invoke Honor?

Used to be very easy to accidently honor yourself before they added the confirmation gump. Can't say how many times I had the honor target up and got hit for half life and instead of targetting the monster to honor it, I targetted myself thinking it was a bandage. Now I sometimes still do it if I'm tired and not paying attention and instead of hitting the "no" I hit "yes" on the confirmation gump.

But what caused the "honor target" to come up to begin with? That has to be initiated, right?

Right. Some people had a macro set-up thru UO to invoke virtue and Honor, but I always just clicked on the virtue gump on the paperdoll and then click on the honor icon. Problem was on fighting things like succubus is you had to do it pretty quick before it took any damage and it was easy to honor yourself instead of it.

There was also a bug to where sometimes, for no reason at all, you'd be the target of the honor, the second you clicked the gump to invoke it to try to honor somethign else. It seemed to be the result of a "hanging" target reticule after doing casting or bandages on yourself.

And Konge, it's quite possible you are bugged, if you lost 3 points of honor at once.

It wasn't all at once, it was over a period of time, thus the decay
