:( Poor lil thing. What happened to kitty ?

About the only consolation for us humans, is when we loose a rescued pet, is that hopefully they learned someone cared and loved them, before they left this world.

That is what the vet lady told us when we lost Gypsy, the pure bred choc. lab that her original owners just dumped like trash when they moved they ... left her on their property alone just a puppy about 5 mos. old stragly hungry and hurt.

She found us we advertised to find her owner for such a pure bred choc. lab so beautiful surely had an owner that gave a flip that was looking for her.

NO ! No one answered our ads.

She only lasted 27 mos. old cuz that bone cancer caught her when she became a 18 mo. old. We spent a fortune trying to save her life or at least comfort her in those last mos. of her bone cancer.

When she passed the vet lady said, " At least Gypsy found love finally off of some humanbeings on this earth, before she became an angel in heaven, and she finally got a deserved warm caring loving place to live, while she lived, with all of you, after being abandoned like trash by her original owners.

And there has to be a place in heaven for abandoned maltreated pet angels..that no one even offered to love. and for those whom were lucky enough to at least get some love before they had to leave this earth, with some human beings however briefly, finally. "

Not much comfort when we loose em, but had it not been for you rescuing lil kitty...lil kitty may never have gotten any human care, nor known any loving.

My compassion extends to people as well. I have been doing therapy animal visits to hospitals and care homes since I was in grade school. My parents got me started through our church and I have continued this.
My question to you is what have you done to give back? Helped at a soup kitchen? Sang at an old folks home? Picked up a person stranded by a broken down car on the highway? Picked up litter when not court assigned?
I just don't share my human interactions because it is a bit more personal; animals don't care if you post about them but a person might.

@QZ Neighbors have several cats and I had mentioned I missed having a kitten/s.
So a few weeks later this little scrap of black nothing is HOWLING on my doorstep. Said neighbors take there dogs for a walk most days and they do have 2 cats who walk with them so I guess the kitten could have got to my door on it's own.

I took the kitten to there house, yes it was there kitten, mom had rejected it and the rest of the litter had been killed by the neighbors dogs (or so she said) .
They said they had no clue how she was on my doorstep but I was welcome to keep her.
About a week ago she was losing weight and looking puny so I wormed her.
She continued to lose weight though and had much less energy. She was still eating and using the litter pan; eyes and nose clear no symptoms of any serious problems.
Got up THAT morning to her in obvious distress so off to the vet... thank goodness they open at 7 am.
She died during the exam...the vet had no idea why.

The worming? No dosage was correct and it was 8 days ago. Coccidia ravaging her system was the next best guess. That or a hereditary defect (she was part manx).

Umm I am wican much to the disgust of my parents.
Well I am one of them God peoples, and I can would nary be disgusted by any wican. :)

Human compassion for other humans and animals in our world is not something that comes naturally and not with any beliefs nor religions, it comes from the hearts..and some folks just do not have it, do not get it and never will.

They had pet therapy in the adult care home that I oft visited in Ohio. Twas a choc. lab and a lil scruffy terrier. . and those animals reached humanbeings that even other human beings, could not reach at all.

And volunteers that are possibly just [blessed with humor] visiting them, just to visit them, and makin some of em laugh in their sorrow or pain, also came in handy for some of those folks...be they elderly with diseases or vets whom lost legs in wars.

There will be always those folks that never GET IT. Maybe they more centered on self. Their loss really !

This time of year there be folks griping cuz they didnt get what they wanted for Christmas.

And there will be others human and animal alike that get nothing ever but ridiculed and left with abandoned coldness from people giving only emptiness, & heartache...no one cares a damn for them folks nor critters, cept us few strange types. ;)

No matter, tis the nature of humanity, in that some give and some only take, with their lives here on this planet.

QZ if you have not read Chicken soup for the pet lover you need to that and randome acts of kindness.
Yes animals are amazing but human compasion at times is ...well almost close to that.

sorry to hear it. I've lost two in the last two years. I like to think of them chasing mice in the happy hunting ground. "get em Al,.... Get em Mel!!!!" . In any case sorry for your loss.
