We take our football seriously here! I cut and pasted this from a Bama site; it's not a joke. this is an actual legal document; anyway I had to lol when i read it:).

"MOTION TO CONTINUE
Comes now Jon XXXXX, as one of the attorneys for the Defendants and would move to continue the current trial setting of January 4, 2010 and as grounds therefore would aver as follows:

1. This case was set for trial several months ago before certain monumental events occurred that were beyond the anticipation of the attorneys and the clients.

2. Since the setting of this case, one of the two great college football teams in this State has reached levels on a national scale that have not been enjoyed by any team in this State in 17 years next preceding the date hereof.

3. Currently, one of the two great teams in this State are playing for a national championship and has enjoyed an undefeated season and clinched the SEC Title Game.

4. Most of the attorneys representing all of the named Defendants have tickets and reservations to be in Pasadena on the 6th day of January, 2010, which date would conflict with the trial date as travel times and schedules for the game overlap the trial as currently set.

5. In fact, the Honorable Jim XXX has children that live in the area and is scheduled to be with them in California to celebrate the game and the Tide s success.

6. Attempts to resolve this conflict directly with the Plaintiffs has been unfruitful as the reply has been that they are for the other great team in this State who did not make the playoffs. Unfortunately, that response remains short-sighted as they may one day find themselves in the same position that the Defendant attorneys are in and, unfortunately, the BSC Title Game is no longer scheduled on January 1st, but has been moved to January 7th.

7. In checking with your Honor s Office, it was determined that there are potential quick dates available during March, the only known conflict being that Jim XXX has recently been elected XXXXXXX and must attend a conference on March 10-12. Other than that, the Defendants can be ready to be first out during any available week for trial during the month of February, March, or April and believe that there would be no harm, considering the magnitude of this event and its impact on this State, and the fact such an event only comes infrequently during a person s lifetime and is an achievement of such a magnitude that all involved in this litigation should want everyone to fully participate in this achievement.

8. It is also understood that many of the witness involved are trying to acquire tickets to the game and/or scheduled to be at the game in Pasadena on January 7th and certainly any juror selected to participate will likely be preoccupied and not able to devote their full attention to the case before them during the week of January 4, 2010, and therefore, the parties would be prejudiced by the distraction caused by such a major event of such significant importance to so many people in this State.

9. ROLL TIDE!! ( although my secretary is for the other great team of this State, she feels that I need to attend this championship game!); and may the Longhorns be defeated.

Nahh, just that my least favorite teams would go something like

1. SEC
2. Notre Dame
3. Texas

Real college football fans know that success is cyclical (or most college sports). I get annoyed with fans who feel their team or conference is the and has always been the shiznit just because they're the flavor of the month. Yeah the SEC is really strong now, but remember how bad they were in the early part of this decade? Notre Dame fans think, we'll we're Notre Dame, we're special no matter if we go 6-6 against the weakest Notre Dame schedule in history. And Texas is close approaching that level of arrogance. I remember ten years ago when unranked UCLA beat #8 Texas 66-3. Now look where UCLA is and where Texas is. And don't even start talking to me about UCLA basketball let alone Pac-10 basketball, what the hell is going on there. It's all cyclical.

Mine would have to be

ND; one of the softest schedules around still supposed to be considered for a BCS bowl if they get 9-10 wins.

USC-the condoms not the cocks, how many straight years have these guys been overated? They stayed in the top 25 alot longer than they should have this year.

Overated conference for years (not now really)- Big 10.

I wish the pac 10 and Big 10 would add some teams and do a championship game like the Big 12, ACC, and SEC. I also knew Fl. State would take a slide as soon as the better teams from the Big east were added to the ACC. Ditto for Nebraska when the big 8 added the old SW conference teams. the current big east coudl stand to add some teams as well although I'd say they have a decent conference.

ATM Pac 10 and SEC are the two best conferences; it's shame there are no bowl tie ins between the conferences.

P.S. Try the pain of being a Bama fan 2000-2007; rough, rough years for a program that used to call a 8-9 win season a bad year:).

also the SEC has been strong all this decade; undefeated Auburn got the shaft in 04, LSU won a NC in '03, Bama was in the hunt in '05 but dropped thier last two games, and '06, '07, '08 has all been SEC with the 2009 SEC champ knockin at the door.

Tibs, I love you man and you know up here in Big Red Land we understand

We dont have that problem in Nebraska, Cause if your caught out even driving around during a Big Red Game you recieve a ticket for (Failure To comply with State Ordinances) issued Doc # 1247.0015 and may recieve jail time for such a infraction....and thats every Satarday we play at home....

We couldnt even imagine buisness's other then State santioned Bars being open during a National Title Game......lol

ehh, we blocked two kicks to save the game which was only put in jepoardy by ingram's only fumble all year; ref's saved your asses because poor Colt was too busy running away from Suh! Alabam's been challanged several times this year (Tenn, LSU, Auburn) and I'd say it prepared them pretty well for the big stage blow out vs. Fla. Texas almost choked thier big chance away against a much weaker overall team than Fla.

BTW how was that a mediocre Aggies team able to hang that many points on your d? You gave up more points in one game than Bama did in over half of thiers. Ingram, McElroy, Julio, TR, and Maze are salivating right now:).

Lets not forget that Alabama has a beast of a DT too plus a better all around defensive unit than Nebraska. McCoy struggled vs. Neb and OU, the only two defenses worth a damn in your conference, Bama rolled against Fla's D; I like our chances:thumbup:

Going to be alot of people missing work on the 9th if we win; I know I didn't wake up till around 2 P.M. after the '93 sugar bowl. I am already anticipating a couple of late shows for work.
