..the "know-it-all, my way is right, all others are wrong, pvp is the only part of the game, if you don't pvp then you are either a child, or of low intelligence" attitude that permeates this shard.
Stopped back in a few weeks ago, and in that time I have met just a handful of players who are human beings. So many are so single-minded, one sided, or just plain come from a family tree that looks like a broom handle.

What prompted this revelation: standing at a bank last night with 2 guys i have been hangin round with relearning to pvp. They have seemed really decent. A fellow obviously of the newer class arrives, does his banking, and comments on the obvious quality of my associates gear, to the gist of 'man that suit is insane. What does it take to get stuff that good?' is my best quote.
These 2 bozos fly into a tirade of 'come to fel, we will show you how good we are, you suck kid'.
And the icing on the cake quote "go back to tram", when we were all standing at papua bank, in trammel.
Un-freaking-believable.

Just read the forums and you'll find out what uo has become. I came back for SA and I can't believe how seriously people take this game. Like anyone cares who kills who or how good someone is and if you do care its time to rethink your life a bit.

I have been met with my share of rudeness lately, also, but there are still some good eggs rolling around...just takes longer to find them now :D

It is actually a two fold problem and the forums is a bit of a tell but it is also human nature. At least the Pac forums are bit accurate on the state of UO on Pac.

Here is the general problem with UO:
1) It has turned 90% solo action. So as a solo action in game, why should someone interact on a forum.
2) RP guilds have turned "anti-social". By this, I mean they are doing their events internally and odds are they are using their own website/forums to communicate. So like the solo action issue, why do they want to interact with someone not in their group. This appears particularly true on Pac.
3) PvP is the last real way players interact within the game; wanted or not. On Pac, there is some good natured hostility and then there are those who take the hostility to a whole new level. Again, the Pac forums reflects this.

Now onto the state of the Pac forums. We(I use we to refer to myself and the other mods) allow PvP posts to stretch the RoC and we don't restrict them to a single post. Because of this, as mods, we have to evaluate every PvP post and determine whether it has crossed the line from PvP smack talk into personal attack. There in lies the fine line. Sadly, some posters have issues differentiating that fine line... this has resulted in warnings, infractions, and bans no matter the guild or poster.

We do take special care to ensure that none of the PvP banter and stuff spills over to any PvM or RP type posts. What we allow in PvP type posts is NOT allowed else where.

Joshjosh, given your low post count, I'll give you a pointer toward avoiding the PvP posts that you find distasteful:
If you look at any of the PvP posts, you will see there are roughly the same 10 players who post in them or start them. Among the group of posters who post them, we have the following:
Gellor - me
Stuicide
Pink Floyd
chad
SUPRSalad
Rand Al
KalValTenki
Wargasm
LordTelsa
Kaleb
Balian
Zambowow
aries
lols
vander

In general, if you see a post started by them, check the title and if it appears to be PvP looking, avoid the thread.

As for the semi popularity of Pac forum for PvP posts, even in the face of claims of bias, the Pac boards are moderated by four people... two who are not involved with Pac at all. And we are watched over by Petra Fyde. Thus, there is a better possibility of no bias moderating on Stratics as opposed to a guild's forum. It has been shown that guild run forums can and will remove posts they do not agree with. Thus, while we allow bias posts, any posts that do not break RoC are allowed to stay no matter who they are biased against.

Because of the bias moderating misconception, I step very lightly on all posts that I am unsure of. Very often I will ask other moderators or Petra to see if I am looking at a post in the right light. I also document my thought process on those posts that are gray. Fortunately, a good portion of posts I've had to moderate are clear cut name calling and not open to misinterpretation.

i been going it solo for many years now and i agree pac is in shambles, but then again im from the east coast originally in RL and in-game. its actually amusing how serious people take things, and also, it isnt the pvp crowd where i sit. its the self righteous who use the game as there platform to make thing difficult for others and seem to slip through the cracks for accountability in THERE actions. a certain "girl" ,yeah we all know who. ive considered going back to a guild but nah, better to be responsible for myself, hell ive made it this far. and certain guilds do alot for the community here on pac, I.E. ancient order of elves,HHYC,GOL. ah well back to banksitting cheers!!!

Being on the list of PvP talkers is kind of like being on a list of people with 10 fingers. There is no implied good or bad. It just is. At least in my opinion.:thumbup1:

For those that are anti-PvP talk, that list might just as well be a list of people who kick dogs and steal candy from babies. Thus, any time a post is started by any of us on that list, he might want to avoid it so as to not insult his sensibilities.:thumbup1:

Oh... and lols, at least it was a list of people who talk PvP :p

Well with 7 counts starting in dec, yer either a newb, or can't show yer face. Permission to make me give a crap for your opinion: denied.
I will assume Vander is also Vander Nars...or Southern Rage. Nothing like starting a new alt when your old one gets found out...
