Dex and Stamina

Im a little confused by the difference. I thought Dex was used to determine swing speed, which is capped at 150, but i see alot of posters saying they have 180 stamina

So what is stamina for?
How does it come into play with swing speed (if at all)

Stamina determines swing speed. Dexterity contributes to your stmaina, as do items with stamina increase. Dexterity is capped at 150, but stamina (including stamina increasing items) can be raised beyond 150.

Even if I get bashed for not being absolutely exact:
Every 30 stamina points decrease your weapon swing speed by one tick (which is 0.25 of a second) so with 180 stamina (or over that) your weapon speed is decrease by 6 ticks (1.5 seconds) before the swing speed increase is calculated in.
The absolute max stamina you can archieve is 198 stamina (plus stamina for robes or cloaks if there is a robe/cloak that increases your stamina). How to get to 198 stamina? 150 dex sets you out at 150 stamina. Every armor-piece can have a max of 8 stamina increase (so 6x8=48) 150+48=198 (as mentioned before: if there is a robe or cloak or any jewlery that also has stamina increase on it, it can get above that, but I do not know of such an item).

This is not what I'm experiencing: I managed to get to 4sec bandies only with 180 stam - at least according to the EC's icons - so maybe there's something else involved?
