Sick Sampire toe to toe?

Here's my build. It uses some imbued jewelry for bonuses and soulstones.

120 swords
120 bushido
120 tactics
120 parry
120 spell resist
99 necro
71 chivalry

120 anatomy on SS
120 spirit speak on SS

I use an ornate axe with 45 HML, 42 HLL, and 45 HSL. 30% swing speed inc and 55 dmg inc.

i am at 38 hit chance inc and 45 def chance inc. 100 dmg increase.

Alright~ My issue is, I keep trying to fight things toe to toe. Ogre lords, obviously, it's easy. Miasma, no problem. But I hear about people killing Balron paragons as Sampire. Are they running and attacking or standing toe to toe? It might just be my having delusions of grandeur and expecting to stand in one place and own everything. Because it sure doesn't happen.

One more thing.. changelings in the twisted weald turn into me and I can't hit them... lame.

What am I doing wrong?

No, some of us can do it toe to toe.

One easy change (since you seem to have an imbuer) is put HLA on the axe instead of LL

May also want to find a quicker weapon.

Also for Balrons, pick a slayer, you need to be doing a lot of damage if the 20% Vamp Leech is going to be your main healing.

Another big thing: are you using a Swamp Dragon with Exceptional Barding? That's 20% damage reduction right there.

For changelings, have you tried disarming them? I haven't. Seems like it'd help though.

Personally i find Spirit Speak much more useful than Resist.
Curse Weapon + Vamp form = 70% damage leech. (leech through blood oaths) Lasts around 30 seconds at GM SS.

One of your biggest issues is using Resist instead of Anatomy. Resist is normally reserved for use against Necro casting creatures. Remember, the more damage you do, the more life you leech, the longer you stay alive.

I don't have any problems going toe to toe with para bally. Your build looks solid, consider trying this:

Stone resist and put on anatomy, that will up your damage output significantly. I would not bother with slayers or a faster weapon, your ornate is sick as it is. Good point about the HLA, that would help as well.

I know you are probably already doing this but I will put it out there just in case but make sure you are using a swampy with exp. barding armor on it. I have ran into many sampires trying to attempt the weald sitting on a charger or ethy!

As long as your stam is up, you need to be swinging that ornate as fast as you can for the damage it does, hence making you leech more life.

As far as the changelings go, are you using a 100% physical weapon? If so, you will hardly scratch them. Just break out any weapon that does not use phys. damage. I used to use the lum. rune blade and it worked fine.

Awesome tips guys. I do have a swampy with exceptional barding. I have a high level tamer as an alt. I haven't really been putting the ornate axe special (disarm) to work effectively so I'll have to try that. I spent a ton of gold on the axe, but I've read a few other posts and my issue may have been resists. I'm all 70s before vamp but I've been using resist spells because my fire resist was sub par. I just bought a few runic pieces, gloves/arms and have to fill the void of points with some training, but I should still look mostly the same, with 10 less points in chiv and anatomy swapped instead of resist. I appreciate your help. Any more ideas?

It would and it does...the problem you might get is the Mana Leech from those winged bastards...no mana>no consecrate weapon>no damage>no leeching>death

So I usually have a 100% poison weapon on me to switch in case I get mana leeched!

good thinking. I carry the ornate axe, soul seeker, and pacify replica that I happened to have lying around. Can probably stash that now.

I just got my resists to 70/65/65/60/75. Not too bad. Stinks that I'm kinda stuck with this +13 sword/tactics/parry ring. I don't want to give up 39 extra points but a ring of elements would top me off. I dunno. I'll try this out now with anatomy and see how it feels.

Does everyone agree that maxing out swords, bush, tacts, parry is the way to go with 99 necro and 60 chiv... rest in anat?

Yep. And what I did was imbue a ring with +15 Chivalry....helps a LOT at success in getting your important Chiv spells off quickly.

i read that your tactic is fitting in + healing by using bonus items. How high is your healing and anatomy may I ask? I'd like to follow that course if I have enough items.

Well, I do have to admit that I added +10 Chiv to my jewels, although I still have the base 60 Chiv. It helps quite a bit.

I just made these for my guy, its a shame theres still like 52 points not being used on it

Arms are gona be a struggle to fit in with so little resists.
Not 100% sure what to put to finish the braclet off to go with it though, its got 20DI 15HCI 8STR 8DEX and my suite has 100DI 45 DCI [could boost this to 60 for Devine fury] 50 HCI, my STR and DEX are both at 144 146, and all 70 resists [apart from fire i need to find another 20]. Tons of MR LMC MI SI.

Not sure if to put 10 Chiv on it [real is at 60] or Fire resist or DCI maybe?

Not trying to steal the thread but maybe get everyone some more information/ideas. I have been working on the same thing. i was able to make a suit with the following attributes:

DI: 95
HCI: 30
DCI: 45
LMC: 32
MR: 6
HPR: 2
STA: 16
INT: 5
STR: 1
RES: 70/70/70/70/75
LUCK: 220

Skills are a work in progress but follow the above lists. Stats are 110/55/136 so from what i understand SSI wont do me any additional good on a weapon. I know i need to put 15HCI on the weap to get to 45. Then i could do 50ML/50SL/50LL and top it off with the last 5%DI i need to max. Or would HLD and/or HLA be better? Probably use something fast like a kryss or dagger. I have never played a sampire before so and ideas on a great all around weap would be much appreciated. Peerless soloing is the ultimate goal.


Also,my ring and bracelet are both 25DI/15HCI/15DCI so each has room for 2 more imbues (one full and one to 500). What should i use these 4 spaces for? the rest of my gear is pretty maxed out or non-imbuable. i could have made higher resists on the gorget/legs but quit when i maxxed them. thanks much.
