Giving in, Soulstone-Frankensteining a Sampire. :D

Well, fine, I'll give in... I see the science/wisdom that Sampires are just flat-out good. :D

I'll use some Soulstones to Frankenstein-up a Sampire to then finish out.

I have 85 Necro on the character I want to make into the Sampire, and on another character I've got 92 Swords, 90 Tactics, and 90 Anatomy. So I'll Soulstone-move those to the Sampire character, leaving me to get the 60 Chivalry (easy), 100-120 Parrying (not so easy), and the Bushido of course, and finish out Swords/Tac/Anat. Heh.

Orrrrrr, I can swap the Necro with my Mage and have the Sampire's Necromancy already finished (since the Mage's is already 100.)

Then of course, have to find gear. I know it's redundant, but can someone repost in this thread with a recommended relatively-easy-to-find/assemble/afford "starter" suit for a Sampire? That way I've got all the info I need in one concise place to look.

The bare minimum you're looking for is 45% DCI and all 70's resist.

The cheapest way to get it if you're an elf is this:
Aegis of Grace (50k - 250k) 20% DCI
Fey leggings (elf version) (50k-150k) 20% DCI
And a ring or bracelet with 5% DCI or more (better is quiver of infinity (400-800k) if you can afford it)

For a human, replace the fey leggings with a heart of the lion breast plate. It's more expensive (100k-300k), has less DCI (15%) and better resists.

If you can find stormgrip, make them your gloves (400k-1 million, shop around some for this one if you don't have them already).

From there, fill in the rest of the pieces with runic armor. If you shop wisely, you can fill out your resists and have a few random extras for just a few hundred thousand gold.

This is just the bare-bones cheapest you can get sampire suit, and it probably won't work for you in the long run. But it is good enough to get you on the right path. Later on, you'll defnitely want to upgrade your pieces.

Scary thing is - the character IS an elf - AND I think she's actually wearing the Aegis and Fey leggings, LOL. :D I'm at work and can't login and check. But someone gave me items for her like... a long time ago. And I think that's what she's wearing, hehe.

And those item prices aren't a problem; I've got nearly 40 million laying around.

If you are willing to spend enough your suit could be

Mace & shield
Gladiator collar
Stormgrips
Runic arms mr 2 lmc 8 stam 8 fire and poison with a arms lore bump to cold
Runic chest same mods as arms
Fey legs
Quiver of infinity
1/3 ring 10 hci 15 dci lmc or ecru ring (lots of options here)
1/3 brace 5 hci 25 di 25 enhance pots (same as above tons of options)
Conjuror trinket
Fire earring or cold
Snake skin boots
Conjuror robe
Crimson cincture

Then a hard hitting weap with 30 ssi 45 di mana leech stam leech and a slayer type. Fc 1 is nice also.

Average prices of these items? (Atlantic, if you happen to know prices there.)

1/3? Again, been away a long time and my memory's pretty clouded... :D

Conjuror trinket
Fire earring or cold
Snake skin boots
Conjuror robe
Crimson cincture
I know the Cincture tends to be painfully expensive, but what about the rest of these?

1/3 is faster casting/cast recovery

That suit is probably 150 mil+ if you found really good deals on everything, but it's something that takes years to put together. Like the previous poster stated. 45 dci and a mana and stam leech weapon is a good start. Damage increase and Lmc would be my next goal, then hci, then mr, then stam increase, then casting. Remember also even the best suit pales when your weapon isn't up to snuff.

There actually is room within the basic template to work around and customize your own style, if you want to feel less like a generic "Sampire."

The only real essential within the template is Vampire Form or Curse weapon.

I just put together a suit like this today. I joined factions yesterday and had a friend give me about 500 of his 5 million ridiculous kill points everyone has so I could reach full rank. Then the suit I put together was as follows

Faction M&S Glasses
Mempho with 7 LMC and all 20s besides phys - Mage Armor
Hiro Side with 8 LMC and 25 fire- Mage Armor
Faction RBC
Faction Fey Legs
Stormgrip
Faction Crimson Cincture
Quiver
Totem of Void
Conjurers Garb
Faction Ring of Vile
Bracelet with 10 HCI/15DCI 20 DI

Stats are...
All 70s with MR on(used scroll Im human)
45DCI/45HCI
55 DI/30HLD
+23 Dex
+10 Str & +16 HP
+8 Int & +10 MI
5 MR/40LMC
6 SR
4 HPR

Faction part of the suit probably cost me 20k in silver which is 200kish on GL(or farm it)..... thats the main part of the suit. The rest of it was laying around and I dont know what it would cost now(I just returned to game) But from what I read its a pretty well built suit and it didnt take much time/effort/money.

are u nuts? stam leech goes way before lmc, mr, and hci. If your not swinging fast your dead......period....And most of the weapons that are heavy hitters have slow speed...dont put faction arties into the equation, not everyone pvps or knows people that are willing to fork out enough points for rank 10...especially on certain shards where u need a gajillion points for top rank....u dont need a artie for every peice of your suit....for example my sampire does not wear stormgrips, RBC, or ring of vile....they are useless to me....most of the time with the right weapon with the right mods and slayers with enemy of one and perfection reached, your gonna be at the damage cap.

Am I nuts? I have stam leech on the wep 60 actually along with 140 dex 30 SSI.... what part of my suit said i had to swing slow? or that i had no stam leech? and the HCI comes from the ring of vile which has SR and dex bonus and the stormgrips which is DI and int bonus. and just because you dont want to factor in faction items doesnt mean its not an option for the poster that ASKED THE QUESTION. k thx bye.

Do you ever add anything positive nicky or just troll endlessly? He is asking about a suit, so we gave him ways to get what he needs. I also stated that even the best suit won't get you anywhere without a decent weapon. You have officially made my ignore list bonehead.

I had this weapon laying around - and it seems moderately decent, can someone confirm it's decent/crap/etc? :

Righteous Anger (Sword weapon...)

HCI 15%
DCI 5%
SSI 35%
DI 40%
Phys. Dmg. 100%

I mean, I know it's not "ZOMG UBAR!!!@@@" but it seems decent...

Its not good... its below par for even minor PvP but completly useless for the Samp setup. You need hit mana leech, hit stamina leech, hit life leech, SSI, DI to have a GOOD sampire weapon... you can survive with just hit mana leech and stam leech from what Ive read. And the weapon needs to be pretty hard hitting, so SSI and big dex to make it swing at max speed. The sampire survives with hit life leech(from vamp form if not on wep) and hit mana leech to replenish the mana.... without the hit stam leech you wont swing fast enough after getting decked by the big bosses a couple times(unless you chain chug refreshes all day or have insane Stam regen)

P.S. Take a look at the "Soul Seeker" on stratics... thats the type of mods you're looking for. If you can get close to 100 DI on your suit before equipping that you can always start out with that and some high dex

P

Got a Soul Seeker. (Actually 2... heh.)

Having some trouble assembling a set... I'm up to,

66/70/49/47/75
HCI 0 :(
SSI 60
DI 13
DCI 45

My arms, gorget, and gloves are junk - and I can't find Stormgrip to save my life. Meh.

Also what should I be looking for in a shield?

C

Capt.E

No shield. Your chance to parry drops to 5% if you have a shield. Onehanded weapon bush and parry is 35% chance to parry.

Look to spend some $$$ on arms or have someone imbue some.

The hci isn't incredibly important, just use lightning strike everytime you hit something. Momentum strike needs hci, as does weapon specials. Ring of vile will help, they usually cost about a mil. Has 20 poison resist on it, 15 hci, stam regen and dex bonus. Spirit of totem is also pretty good. 20 strength( you can drop str and add int) then ask someone who imbues to make you some armor to fill out your resists. Bring 40 boura pelts and 10k see what they can do for ya. Being friendly can go a long way. If they are willing to make a nice piece for ya you may have to pay a little more, but focus on lmc fire and poison.

Odd - I thought Parrying in this game meant "using a shield." ... LOL

paraphrasing here but the art of bushido trains the ability to parry with a weapon, 2 handed weapons max out at 40% chance to parry. Without bushido, you will need a shield to parry and it's max is 35%

So, I actually want to find some insane 2-hander instead of the Soul Seeker I've got now? Meh. Ok.

Still need to find a combo of gear that gives me 70/all while still keeping the other stuff up, too... Not easy. :D

Did get Stormgrip though. I have Aegis of Grace/Fey Leggings/Heart of Lion/Quiver of Infinity/Stormgrip/random other crap. Grar.

It's only 5% and you can chug potions with a one handed weapon. I prefer to stay one handed and put enhance potions on jewels. An awesome weapon is 50 hit lower attack 44 mana leech 44 stam leech 25 ssi 40 di. Put it on the hardest hitting one handed weapon in your group. It's actually fairly easy to imbue as well. Good luck. Get phys and poison to 70 and hit up miasma for some training.

I can't "put it on" anything - I have no crafting characters and so I depend on vendors having what I need/want - and they DON'T, mostly. I'm still looking, or hoping to find a crafter that can custom-make some stuff. :/

Heh, I think it'll be quite a while before I go after Miasma... Pretty sure I need to GM some stuff first. :D

Yeah - I have to say - Nicky's being a lot more helpful than the "zomg just spend 1000000000000000000 gold and get max Faction rank" type people. :D

Really at a loss as to how to finish out this kit, without finding a crafter willing to custom-make some stuff. Vendors are just...fail, it seems.

(Edit, yeah, or make my own crafter... Sigh. Time to find an ACS token it seems.)

In short: you don't. Either learn how to make gold--it's really not that hard--or make friends with a crafter.

I have plenty of gold - er, sort of - just can't find the items I need, to spend it on! I'm not trying to get things for free, I simply can't find the items I need on vendors.

In the immortal words of someone:
"Patience young grasshopper."

Just keep an eye out on the vendors and in Luna. It sometimes takes a very long time to find just the right piece to complete a suit. My first good sampire suit took a solid 8 months to find everything that I needed in addition to the hefty gold investment.

There are things you can do to speed up the process, the best is probably advertising in the buy/sell forums here (WTB: sleeves with x/20/x/14/10 resists and SI 6... etc, just for an example), since many people have large stocks of gear they are willing to sell but are just not willing to run a vendor.

The next best is to have your own crafter/imbuer mule, which is a hefty time/effort investment on its own. But it can save weeks, if not months, when looking for that perfect suit.

If, like me, you don't have your own crafter, you need to take the time or effort to collect contacts who are into that sort of thing. Many people who are dedicated crafters love nothing more than a real person who is a steady client. It's so much more personal than throwing things on a vendor and forgetting about them. And if you always buy from the same person, you can get some pretty fantastic deals sometimes.

And now, back to the original question, since my answer wasn't quite what you're looking for.

If I were you, I would keep the heart of the lion (good resists, DCI), Fey Leggings (ok resists, more DCI) and stormgrip (DI). Then I would make my highest priorty finding some mace and shield glasses (great resists, stat gains, HLD. I couldn't recommend them enough. Also very easy to find on Atl (that is where you are, right?) for 8-10 million). The rest of your suit should focus on fire and poison resists and stamina increase and should be all crafted pieces.

Then find an imbuer to craft you the "perfect" ring/brace set to fill in resists, add more DI (looking for 60 total minus what you get from stormgrip and the primer on arms damage talisman), hit chance, defense chance and whatever stats you can find. Without an imbuer, finding the right jewels can take years and a lot of dedicated effort.

Well, my problem is that I'm being told 70/all and such is "bare minimum" which means to me, I can't "use" the character until I obtain this set... Now, I realize that may be hyperbole and you can perform without the "perfect" suit... But I, myself, don't know, and the people here generally seem to maintain that you MUST HAVE THIS SUIT... heh. See what I mean? :D

Anyway, I did find a very helpful crafter, and am now at 70+ in all but Poison, which is 67, and can probably be fixed with a different jewelry layout.

The difference is that the bare minimum for someone who has been playing for years and focusses mostly on soloing the big game is different than the bare minimum for someone who is learning the template and has a few specific targets in mind, which is what I had in mind when I created the "bare minimum" suit which has been used in the sampire guide sticky. It's full of parts which has high resists, high defense chance increase and nothing else (but to be honest, hit lower defense should be a requirement).

After that, what you need depends a lot on how you play. Do you like to spam divine fury a lot? Then you need lower mana costs and very high mana leech on your weapon in addition to 65 or more defense chance increase. Do you like to use the ornate axes? Then your suit should include as much dex and stamina increase as you can find.

As it stands, it looks like you have all the DCI you need and all the resists you need (67 is plenty good enough, especially in poison. So once you settle on the right weapons (one is never enough), you can start focussing on learning how to kill really big things.

Anyhow, the suit I started my sampire career with was a non runic crafted dull copper suit which I used to kill repond things (back then it was titans/cyclopses with the occasional trip to kill Lurg and Grobu). It was a challenge until I found the fey leggings which changed my entire look at the template. From there it was a short trip to figure out that mace and shield glasses were pretty handy and my suit just grew from there.

Thanks, Farsight, for a much more positive/moderate outlook on things. :)

I think I'm good to go then - I've got a Soul Seeker and a couple imbued Scimitars that Maggie made for me + the suit, and I guess now it's "go out and see what I can kill vs. what kills me"! :D

(Edit: and it's not like my skills are high enough to kill anything really big anyway - heh!)
