Peerless?

Well, after a year + of lurking, I finally made an account to ask a few questions. :mf_prop:

Figure I'll start easy, after a long time working and taming - re taming, I have fully trained, decent Greater Dragons, Cu Sidhe's and Mare/beetle. Now my question is, which peerless can a SW/Mage/Tamer take on with a cheap suit, and which combo to use. I've been told to use my GD against Dread Horn, but Succubi are a problem for me with the AoE and bandage range.

Any ways, any advice at all is helpful, Merci.

Hi, Tarewin. I'd recommend going with a group of three or four - at least at first.

Dread Horn doesn't involve any succubi, so you should be ok there.

Grizzle is the easiest peerless for a tamer, if done correctly. There is a spot right behind your pet where Griz's acid doesn't fall. Stand there and vet and you'll be fine.

Travesty can be safely done with a couple of tamers.

Again, best to grab some folks in-game who have experience with the peerless you're interested in. Have them show you the ropes.

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the quick reply. What I meant about the Succubi AoE, is that if it hits me, doesn't DH have an Aoe too that would slaughter my Tamer, seeing as he has all the defense of wet tissue paper?

Also, I'm on Napa Valley the do it yourself shard =p I've got a friend or two that can help luckily though, they have no experience in it, but safety in numbers and all that.. I'll try the Grizzle today, though there is always such a killer build up at the entrance, I've never had any luck.

Hmm, I don't think that Dread Horn has an AOE spell. When your dragon attacks him, he will occasionally deadly poison you, so you'll need to keep arch cure ready. Otherwise, he works like any other creature.

Oh, sounds great thanks. I'll get my stuff set up and run DH and the Grizzle tonight then, if nothing else get my bearings for what I need to work on.:thumbup1:

One last question, what about the Effusion? I hear a lot of talk about him, but very little of it involves a solo victory unless you're a Sampire.

Shimmer can be a monster, without enough people. I've heard of bards soloing it before, though.

Paroxy is fully healed when attacked by pets or summons, so that one's out for a tamer.

Medusa might be tough, as she can make evil twins of your pet. Nothing fun about a greater dragon evil twin.

Stygian Dragon . . . really want a big group of mages and archers for that one.

Tarewin, let us know what you discover with your character and the higher level monsters. I have the same template and I'm also curious what I can get away with on it being new to those fights.

Well, Grizzle is a no go, I die before I'm done loading into the area... All of the named and their buddies are right at the door, that was a fun couple K trying to grab my gear...

Dread Horn was a bit better, took a few tries and some terrible deaths and harsh language to the 3 Paragon Changelings guarding Gnaw's cave... But after some work I got there, and got him down to half with a buddy standing by to rez me.

It seems that every other hit, he teleports me to him, poisons me and then promptly kicks the sh*t outta me... After about 20 minutes, we both died, and called it a day.

All in all, not a total loss I learned a few things, such as the hating of Changelings and Dread Horn, I'll just dust my self off and try again later! Thanks for the advice.

Dreadhorn's aoe poison ability will cause him to re-target you however if your fast enough on the clicky you can back up cure invis and start vetting again in just a few seconds.

ive never done peerless yet but fighting succubi for honor i learned if the creature AOEs you,you get on its hate list and it starts targeting. you need to actively work to stay off the hate list of any creature that behaves that way. back off, heal, invis, etc.

as you'll learn with all peerless except grizzle......and dreadhorn if u do it right....u have to use magery to heal...trying to vet heal is not going to fly...in other words if u dont have a level six arcane focus, a sampire, or a group of 3 or more with a discorder, its gonna be quite difficult.

What spells would you use with spellweaving to do peerlesses?

I played around with SW for a month and all I found useful was Gift of Life, Gift of Renewal (which is on a horribly long timer so it is not a substitute for actual healing), and The AOE chill spell, which uses twice the mana of wither...

(Granted I've never had above a level 2 focus arcane gem, I don't know how a level 6 would effect things)

i weaver tamer with alot of mana and a disco bard tamer can take on most peerless with ease.

gift of life is the best, cast it on the pet and if it dies you can instantly resurect it with almost full health at level 6.

gift of renewal is a must for when you need to meditate.

word of death at the end finishes things really quick.

On this note has anyone tried wolf spiders on dreadhorn? When i did him with my rune beetle it tanked fine but i am not sure whether the spiders high poison resist low health would make it more viable.

Bah nevermind every time i think about him i think he does 60% poison not energy damage my bad.
On further review i am getting conflicting information the Hunters guide states 60% energy damage however comments and my own thoughts place it at 60% poison damage, if this is indeed the case wolf spiders could be a viable tank as well as a arctic ogre lord.

I've done Medusa without too much trouble but you have to magery heal. I just did grizzle and it took about 1000 bandies but got him. just stand on your GD's tail like said previously and hotkey heal drag. I use a bard tamer and was able to disco both but grizzle says he shrugs off some of your discord so it was still a lonnng fight.

you got to think about it that the peerless have 30k plus hit points and all do some kind of very nasty attack. Not realy made to solo. But like said before a couple of people can take most of them down after learning the ropes of each one. Like mel for ex: 2 deceintly trained gd and a mage with good mana can nock her down with little trouble. Same thing with the grizzeld. Trav on the other had its not bad to have some worrior type and tammers but she will mimic any char down there so no discord or peace and the huge spawn at the end can kind of be a pain with out some tank fighters. The dread horn I hate and don't even want to talk about him (lol) and I've never done the fat guy because I use my tammer so muich and he heals himself off the pets so thats a no go...Good luck and with practice you will get it and they are great trainers for the pets

If I key a peerless and am at the stage where I can go to the peerless room - but I'm being told that the peerless is already being engaged, do I only have a certain aount of time before 'my' timer runs out?

For example can I go back say tomorrow and get straight into the peerless on the strength that I've already keyed it?

Edit: Less than 10 minutes later and I'm getting a message saying the Master Key has expired - surely this can't be right? I've been keyeing fro the last few hours - and all gone to waste because someone already has him engaged...? Is there some way of telling before I bother going through all the rigmarole again and wasting my time - or am I missing something? This is the first time I've keyed a peerless before.

(Copied from my post in Players Corner as no-one seems to read there, hoping I can get an answer here :) ).

yep thats the way it works unfotunatly. You only can hope that the person in there knows what they are doing. But I think also that there is a timer on the peerless boss as well. I don't know how the two time limites match up though. I would say though that if you keys a boss and get the message that someone has already ingaged, then wait there and try the keys every min or so until you get in or your keys expire...Sorry that happend to you, don't give up on them peerless are fun once you get the hang of them.:gee:

Has anyone tried other methods of chain healing pet, such as Chiv, to see if it's more efficient in mana per health healed and if you can squeeze more heals per second in? At times it seems that greater heal is way too damn slow and can't keep up with damage being done to dragon if I can't vet (and I'm solo)
