It depends what youve killed and drained with the grass to get the essance.
Popps, let me see if I can break it down for you...
It does not affect anything at all.
Complete guess: maybe if you collect Corporeal Residues from higher-level creatures you have a higher chance of receiving a rare Halloween mask from Tomas O'Neerlan?why would anyone want to take X more time to kill Balrons type MoBs than it takes, for example, to kill skeletons type MoBs in order to obtain Corporeal Residues to then make a Corporeal Essence for that type level MoB ?
Complete guess: maybe if you collect Corporeal Residues from higher-level creatures you have a higher chance of receiving a rare Halloween mask from Tomas O'Neerlan?
If you're just after yellow/blue crystals, it's better to kill lots of smaller creatures quick.
If you're after red crystals, it could be worth a try to collect the Residues from Balrons...
Hence the first two words of his post?Or is that just a guess ?

The difference is one flies the other one doesn'tI noticed that within the Halloween 2009 Quest some players turn into Trolls and some in Harpies.
What is the difference in practical terms ?
How does one become an Harpie rather than a Troll ?

It does not affect anything at all. In no way does it affect any part of the quest. It does not affect your speed. It does not affect your rate of recovery. It does not affect how many sparkles you see. It does not affect your recall time. It does not affect your luck. It has absolutely no affect whatsoever on any aspect of the game in any way, shape, or form... positive or negative. It is not even worth thinking about for the most fleeting moment. There is no benefit to one form over any other form. There is no drawback to one form over any other form. All forms, each and every one, are created equal in every way. There is no advantage or disadvantage to any of the possible forms that you may be transformed into. No form takes up more of your CPU usage then another form does. You are not more or less likely to be banned while exploiting in any one form then in any other form. You do not get any bonus to crafting in any form, and you do not receive any penalty to crafting in any form. Regardless of weather you turn into a Troll, a Harpy, a Balron, a Matriarch, or any other random representation of a monster either fictional or real... you will gain no advantage or disadvantage in any aspect of the game mechanics, in any dungeon, on any facet, using any skill, or interacting with any NPC that would be different from any other random representation of a monster either fictional or real.
This goes for every shard, at every time, in every time-zone, weather you are playing on a laptop or desktop, weather you are using ICQ, Vent, TeamSpeak or Excel in the background, no matter where in the world you are playing from. Nothing is different between one form and another if you are in a guild or out of a guild, in a faction or out of a faction, in stat loss or out of statloss, red or blue, male or female, Human, Elf, or Gargoyle, in a party or out of a party, wearing armor or naked, or weather you have used any hair dye.
Weather you end up as a Troll or a Harpy or some other monster will have no affect on your 10 minute time spent in that form, it will not affect your log-out time should you decide to switch characters, it will not affect line in the que should you need to page a GM, it will not affect the amount of time it takes for a pet to bond to that character, it will not lower your vendor fees, and it will not increase your house storage.
In order to keep this answer brief let me just say that there is no difference.
Now, before you start asking more questions about what it effects... why dont you read through this one more time to make sure I have not already covered it...

Actually, it is known. PlusI see....
Kinda odd that with the Event having run for weeks now, and just a few days before it ends it is still not known whether or not the monster one turns into has any effect whatsoever in the Quest.....
Oh well...........
I agree with the first half of what you are saying, but the second half not so much. It is known that using grass on higher end mobs will get you a higher end transformation, but as far as getting "better" crystals I don't think so. I got 2 Dream Wraiths in one day as a Troll. I believe it to all be the "famous" RNG. People have recieved a Shadow Wyrm on their first turn-in so I don't agree that the higher level monster you are, the higher level the crystal will be. They are all the same IMO.From what i understand from a post by a dev.... Not sure which dev nor do I have a link but... Using the moon grass on higher end monsters enables you to morph into higher end monsters which enables you to have a better chance at the rare costumes which are shadow wyrms and dream wraiths. So maybe each red essence is somehow lvl coded and would be a good idea to keep track of what you collected as which monster.....![]()

Hmm.I noticed that within the Halloween 2009 Quest some players turn into Trolls and some in Harpies.
What is the difference in practical terms ?
How does one become an Harpie rather than a Troll ?
Who's "we" here about debating the difference? You're the first person I've noticed to bring this up.That is not the point.
If the Event was designed to have monster forms make a difference, whichever it was, I find it amazing that after weeks it has lasted and close to its ending we are still debating whether or not these forms may affect the quest....
I would imagine that players participating to the Event were to be informed at the beginning of the Event, not at its end.
Yet, we have a whole thread here where some players say it makes no difference, some say they "guess" it does, and some say it certainly does because it was mentioned by an official representative (where ?).
Personally, I think that certainty perhaps would help players more to participate in the Event to their liking if there was less uncertainty about how the Quest was designed to work.
Then send that into the feedback. Shesh. BTW whoever wrote that loooong post you get 5,000,000 gold stars. That is not the point.

Yet I can't help but compare this to the eating food myth as to whether or not it makes a difference. Some people say yes eating food helps and others say it makes no difference.
I need to disagree. But again, enjoy it while it lasts. Or if you really care that much about it give it some tests and let us know. Some of the fun about fun new features if for us to find out for ourselves.
If there is a difference, I can guess that the devs didn't mention it because they intended for us to find out ourselves. You know, the fun of finding out ourselves instead of getting it all spoiled at the start.
Your bottom line bottom line had nothing to do with your first 3 lines of your first post.![]()
I thought it didn't make a difference either...until someone mentioned a dev saying that it affects certain things. Found this post from Sak:
http://vboards.stratics.com/showpost.php?p=1474277&postcount=18
"The chance of receiving residue is scaled on the difficulty of the monster. So is the type of monster you will turn into. I still haven't seen anyone turn into a Balron. The tougher the monster, the better your chance of residue and the better your chance of getting a shadow wyrm or dream wraith costume."
The thing is, with regards to getting the shadow wyrm/dream wraith custumes, I can't tell if Sak means :
1) Sparklies collected in the higher monster forms gives better chances
or
2) Red crystals recieved when in the higher monster forms give better chances
or
3) Turning in the red crystals when in the higher monster forms give better chances
Which means I'll do all 3![]()
I would like to add that the Troll did get me 2 Dream Wraiths in the span of a couple of hours. The Balron form gives relic frags every time you Salute.
The Matriarch form gives Val hammers every time you eat bacon.
The Harpy form gives you 10 gold each time you take your clothes off.
The Troll form does nothing.

You really takes these events that were intended for fun way too seriously. You should try to have fun in this game and just play it sometime.I mean, players use their time to play the Event (those participating, of course) and it would be nice that they used their time knowingly, and not in the dark about how the Event was designed.
