Erm... hope you don't mind, but it's been bugging me for aaaaaaaagges!

I could have sworn I'd seen your Stratics avatar somewhere before, and the other day I think I figured out where! That old SSI game Unlimited Adventures!

Now of course that artwork could well have come from elsewhere, but I just had to post about it, sorry I hope you don't mind!

I'm not sure what the origin is tbh, I found it on a site of avatars years ago.

I'm absolutely certain I've seen it on the cover of a D&D module or book, and getting very annoyed I can't remember which one....

Ohhh!
'twas an interesting old game it was!
Kind of an AD&D adventure designer game.
The NPC was called Yemandra and was apparently an 8th level priest!



Oh! But this here actually looks like (a very small version of) perhaps the original picture!

heh, well if you look closely, you'll see mine isn't quite the same, the colours are less vibrant and the artwork a little smoother. I got it from a site that offered free avatars.

The colours are toned down, and the resolution slightly blurs the image - but I'll gladly bet real money it's from that original Caldwell picture

Not as far as I'm concerned - just working out where the 'original' image came from. As Ferrut pointed out, it's been the 'inspiration' for a lot of subsequent images, and when you said 'I'm not sure what the origin is' I thought I'd track it down.
