recently returning to uo, I found one of these quivers. So I paged, to have it fixed...doing the right thing...or so I thought.
I'm moved to jail and told that they will be flagging my acct as violating the rules of conduct!

The far above statement implies that you will be repremanded if another player turns you in...I paged myself on this issue.
when I questioned this the GM tells me that I should have thrown it away...I don't see anything about that in the above statement!
Then I ask him, well is there even a way to throw these away without ending up in the cavern of the discarded and ultimately in the hands of another poor soul who may or may not know what it is. He didn't have an answer for that. He told me basically if I didn't like the policy to take it up with the company. I intend to do so but not before I warn my uo community. So if you have a bugged quiver DO NOT PAGE FOR FIX...as far as what to do with it really...heck if I know.

Send Chrissay an email explaining the situation. The GM was 100% in the wrong on this one. They're supposed to fix the quiver and put a notice on your account that the fix was done so that if you get caught with any in the future they'll have a record that you knew about the exploit. I honestly can't believe that a GM is so ill-informed as to the proper policy on this. Being ignorant is one thing, doing the exact opposite of what the official policy is, is nothing short of moronic.

I dont think this is completely the fault of the GMs. It seems to me that the problem is that the people they employ are uninformed, ignorant of the game and ill-trained for the job they are required to do. Which suggests to me that the prime fault lies with EA for allowing this to happen.

Don't it make you wonder if anyone there has even heard of Customer Relations or Customer Service?.

Its not the gms fault its the coders scripters fault if they had done their job from the start none of the problems had to be solved. Pathetic that they cant even solve such a simple task.

This...

But I really don't see why you're complaining so much (the OP)
You actually got a GM to talk to which seems to be incredibly rare these days! lol

Even this is a very bad policy. Most players do not know where every item they have is. So if you find one, and page on yourself, your account gets marked and getting caught with one again will get you banned. So you miss one left in a remote chest somewhere in your house and now if a GM stumbles on it, or if you find it and think you have already paged on all the ones you own and forget to check you now get banned. So paging on yourself does nothing but make you MORE accountable even if the system is working correctly.

The OP is right... the GMs (For the most part) are horrible and most seem to be more concerned with screwing the players over instead of helping them. This issue in general should have been handled by the developers, and should never have had anything to do with players or Gms in the first place.

:grrr:The players should not be required to keep up with every bug and exploit in order to avoid being banned.:coco:

When this policy first started, a friend of mine had the same issue. He paged on himself to get his fixed and they put a mark on his account. Pretty ridiculous.

It is ridiculous that the player base suffers because the right hand has no clue what the left is doing. There doesn't seem to be communication from the development team and customer service.

WOW... was that really necessary? This post is one of the few complaints that I believe should actually be on here! EA puts out notice for us to do something... the OP does it.. and what happens? This isn't the usual "I paged for this and got a canned response?"

So basically you are saying that EA should not have to honor something that is several months past because someone on here once complained about their keyboards? Jedi mindtrick required? I don't think you read the post... you saw the title and decided to let it rip. You are awesome.

Here's the thing. You'll like this. Every word gms say is logged. Every word you say in response to them is logged. It will be on record you paged to have it fixed. It will be on record the response he took. Just file a grievance, and a senior gm will have to review the situation and take care of it. Feel blessed that you are one of the few people that can prove you did the right thing. It will be resolved.

I already did send an email and of course am waiting the 24 hour response. Even if this is what they do to everyone, it needs to be changed. There are many "bugged" items that they let people keep and even gave out some. This bug could have easily happened to an innocent person when it came out! Who doesn't like to show off some new item by "displaying" it for visitors to see? This was their problem and wasn't something that people had to take a lot of steps to accomplish, therefore it hardly seems fair to so harshly punish.

he didd't hav an answer about the 'cavern' 'cause he is clueless as to what the heck is in UO like most of 'em.
The post they made was so that they players could still have a quiver.
At the time of the announcement, I felt it was just to get people to page on one another.
Yikes.

At the end of the day this the WRONG way to handle the problem - period.

If they really believe the 500+ arrow quivers are illegal - then fix the items on the server side.

Seriously.

They own the database or text file or whatever archaic method they use to store our items.

Search/replace and fix with new quivers.

How hard is this?

Instead they turn UO into some sort of witch hunt over an item that - honestly - doesn't provide that much of an advantage. So what if it holds more? Is no different that me carrying 2 more in my pack that i switch to.

When I read stuff like this I just have to laugh at how utterly poorly this game is run. Really. Wise up EA.

Stop banning your customers because YOU CANNOT CONTROL YOUR OWN GAME.

Consider the slew of aberrations in the game that are regularly exploited, consider the clear advantage they give cheats over honest players, and put a bugged quiver into that context. See if, on the scale of things, it's really an offense worthy of banning when so much that is truly detrimental to the game goes unchecked and unpunished. I don't own a bugged quiver, I don't want a bugged quiver, but I can easily think of a dozen things offhand that are far more pressing to the overall integrity of the game.

Add to those inequities, they're asking us to volunteer ourselves for this sort of incompetent handling. After hearing this, who would be so foolish?

You can't get Quiver of the Elements from a token, which is the quiver that most archers use to store arrows/bolts in their pack.

This was entirely my bad! I apologize. I had just spent quite a bit going over the posts for the day and for some reason.. the board was full of rude comments and just overall unhelpful posts to individuals who were just asking, or requesting, or just wanting to connect to the community.

So again... I apologize for the somewhat over the top reply. I felt bad for this OP and let the other threads influence my judgement.

Am I the only that's noticed that NO ONE from EAMythic has the CAJONES to even post in this thread? Figures.:gee: I've had my own expirence with lazy GMS recently.

I paged for a harassment issue and I was told quote "THIS ISN'T A GM ISSUE?" WTF????

So I guess its legal now to make 1001 alts and use them to harass someone in game?

I guess EAMythic wouldn't miss our money either if we started closing accounts.

HEY EAMYTHIC HOW ABOUT LEARNING WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS?

I think because this is old news by now. The whole issue with paging over the quivers is really old news.
However, a GM flagging the accounts of people who return to the game, find out what has been said while they were away, and do exactly what EA says they should do - that's a new low for a GM, should never have happened, and should be set right immediately either on receipt of the 'review' of the GMs actions, or via the 'Community Manager' chasing up the problem.

I wish I had any confidence it will be :(

when you say 'send an email' do you mean that you filled out a GM review form?

also, please, what type of quiver was this and where was it found, on a vendor or in your home/bank? just wondering, if on a vendor, if there might be some way for the system to do a check on quivers placed on vendors and auto-fix them
