ive said this before and darn it, im gonna rattle my tin cup against the bars of my cell again!!

make a useless item in game (dress forms) usefull by letting us put collectable suits on them so we can show them off in musems and private collections and such.

darn it all!!

i have every suit in game (assassin, scout, grizzle ect ect ect)
and a butt load of the general suits and i would L O V E to put them out for people to see at my castle.

just laying in some chest in my castle just dosnt do them justice.

the dress forms should take on vender shape when you put clothes or armor on it, and you should be able to label it as well.

lets start a grassroots protest and lets see if the devs will give us some love.

well.... besides the normal love they give us..... and not that creepy kinda love that our high school gym teachers wanted to show us.... but a good kinda in game pixil crack love.

I guess I wouldn't mind... though can't we do the same thing with vendors and barkeeps? Or am I confusing something other than the money involved for upkeep?

You can do the same thing with vendors, however the problem is that if you forget to pay your vendor, or the cash on it runs out before you can refund it's purse, you loose the suit. Which is a pretty harsh way for you to loose equipment your proud enough to display. Besides, I don't think vendors were meant to be run way models for our display equipment.

I personally would love to see dress forms as usable for displaying armor. They are after all, dress forms.... In 2d there was a way to stack certain suites of armor on a dress form to create the illusion it was wearing it. But that seems to have gone out the window in the new client.

If you put 100k on a vendor, it's upkeep is paid for more than 4 1/2 years. If you've got the gold to have a museum, simply put 1 mil on each and never have to worry about the vendor falling before UO shuts down, or you end up six feet under, depending on how old you are now.

just allowing us to dress the barkeeps would pretty much solve the problem.... I've got the same, Poo, lots of old Legends crafters items currently on vendors for display... thing is, I don't like misleading people by having vendors up that have only empty packs

As long as you aren't selling items on it, the charge would be 60gp a day. Even 25k would be about a year I believe. If you are using the vendor for your museum, I am assuming it is in your house. Unless they've changed something, when your vendor drops for whatever reason (canceled contract, lack of funds, etc), it will stay for a certain amount of time in the buildings sign and can be retrieved from there by its owner. After that time frame, it is moved to the building's moving crate. So even if it for some reason did drop as long as you are the owner of the house, you shouldn't lose anything.

I do like the idea of some sort of display system and this dressform idea. I just wanted to clarify the vendor idea for use in the meantime.

I'll go a few steps further:

A - They should be usable to armor/jewelry on
B - They should have a toggle for the races (human/gargoyle/elf)
C - When you hover over them they should show you the combined total of the armor in terms of resists, HP regen, Mana regen etc
D - They should be able to to sold on vendors WITH the armor on them.

This would be a HUGE boon to selling armor suits. As it is now you have to stuff it in a bag and hand count the resists/mods.

It's a great idea!

There should also be an option to transfer all your character is wearing at the moment to a dress form and to transfer whatever is on dressform to a character (owners, co-owners, friends) for easy changing from one trype of suit to another.

And yes, they should display totals of suit resists and other stats.

Yes, this is a GREAT IDEA! The idea about switching the suit you are wearing with the one on the form is also good.

I"m liking all these ideas.. I don't care if it has any hair or face or anything like a vendor.. but I'd like to be able to "showoff" all the junk I have sitting around and I am aware of the vendor thing with the suits... but really I don't pay that much attention to things like that... kinda like trying to grow plants or have chickens... you have to be able to attend to them and such... something I don't always have the time to do.

I think last time you said this could be my idea. It was the best idea ever suggested.
Now you took it back.

Hmm.

This is a excellent idea for dress forms.

Vendors don't work well if your castle museum is in fel like mine. You gotta make a home public for vendors and that is just an invitation for trouble whenever i open the door.

For fun, I'll repost this idea that I wrote up a simple document for. I've sent this suggestion in at least a couple times. I may send it in again.

Dress Form / Mannequin

Creation – Similar requirements to the current Dress Form (Carpentry with some Tailoring?, maybe even some Smithing?).

Art – the piece could either look like an existing Dress Form or featureless NPC(on a base?). With, possibly a male and a female version, since the EC has 2 different paper doll poses. May also need race variation to account for Human, Elf, and Gargoyle figures?

Placement – Most likely would need to be a deed. When placing, a direction choice would allow the user to choose the direction the mannequin would face(N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW). Dying could work as it does now, dying the item before the initial placement. Re-deeding would not be allowed as long items are present(similar to Elven containers, I believe). Either items placed onto the mannequin take up storage(dynamically), in the current house, or placing a mannequin takes up a predefined amount of storage(the total amount of item slots?).

Instead of a deed, a non-deeded ‘container’ might be nice so that they can be placed on vendors which could allow players to sell whole suits.

Dressing – Adding items to the mannequin could work similarly to how dressing vendors work. Security could be set like a container. A beneficial option could be implemented to allow a PC to switch out their current worn items for those of the mannequin. This would allow users (RPers in particular) a convenient alternative to wearing their ‘war’ suit all the time. A time limit in between switches could be implemented(incase this item could be exploited from excessive switching?). If each item added to the mannequin counts towards current storage for the house then switching items out will need to check if there is enough storage available as each item is added to the mannequin.

Information – The total of all item properties present could be shown. Either, similar to how item properties show on test center upon mouse over or a ‘Lore’ sheet similar to Animal Lore information sheet. The EC has a lot of the item properties, but not all, already built into the character sheet, I believe. The item property ‘Mage Armor’ could appear if there are no items that would block meditation with a similar display for Spell Channeling.

Purposes:
- Crafters showing off their skill/wears.
- A convenient change of pace for those that don’t wish to be garbed for war 23/7.
- Total information available for suit builders.
- A convenience for users with multiple characters that use the same suit.
- A new craftable item for ?Carpenters?
- House Decoration.

ONE OPTION

The dress form can be double clicked. What you are wearing is sent to the dress form, what is on the dress form is put on you.

Im tired of rummaging.

Seems like we all agree on this one.

Lets hope a dev sees it before is scrolls off the first page which it is likely to do given there is no flame war included.

If the Devs do consider this - it must be EASILY craftable as people would need 5,10,15 of these. Please do not offer as a vet reward or make it difficult to craft like the soulstone frags or the bookshelf that requires the stealing rare.

here's a suggestion to possibly tide you over until somthing is created, a friend showed me.

all you need is a globe , and a wooden shield you can create a display stand to show off your collection.

lock down the wooden shield as the base.
set the globe on the base, lock it down.
set what u want to add to it on the ground lock it down, use a house deco tool to raise it up until it's in the right spot, repeat until you are happy w/ the appearance.

having issues w/ paint at the moment when i get it fig out i'll post some pic's i have using the samurai expansion armor i have on display.

How about just adding some options to vendors?

Race: human / elf / gargoyle

..self explanatory.

Mode: vendor / mannequin / barkeep

..mannequin mode allows you to dress it - all slots - but not stock it or price any of those equipables as for sale. Vendors that run out of priced goods but are still paid up would fall to mannequin mode. Their name will display in white text and they will be removed from the house sign vendor list. Using Arms Lore or Item ID on the mannequin would give you a lore gump showing total figures for the suit/weapons worn.

..barkeep mode consolidates the function of barkeeps and vendors. Barkeeps can have selected professional titles and may stock npc items accordingly. Message system as per current system. No upkeep or revenue on barkeeps, no player-stocked items.
