Taxing UWF/10 Harbringer Battle

As some of you may know, i've implemented a Thief Tax on many of the major guilds on Atlantic. UWF is one of the ones who has refused to pay the 1mil a month. We've manged to get excess of 30mil in items from them so far, but i took it to another level tonight, lol.

I took a stroll to their guildhouse, and saw them preparing for their weekly Spawn Night. They were giving me the cold shoulder, so i got upset. I then proceeded to summon 10 Harbringers at the porch of their castle. Many of them began to die, while the others retreated. They even decided to page a GM to come and kill the Harbringers, lol. I saw one UWF member run from a single Harbringer, round the corner, and get close-lined by a gank squad of 3 others. Total chaos, totally hilarious.

About 20min later, the 10 Harbringers were patrolling the surrounding area with no one to kill. I got bored, and decided to turn it into an event. We went to Luna and gated in people to battle the 10 Harbringers. Soon many guilds were showing up to fight. Bodies were everyone, people running from Harbringers in all directions. Eventually, everyone managed to section-off single Harbringers, making it easier on them.

Probably an hour after it all started, they were all dead (supposedly...some may have wandered off). To those of you who got robes at the event, congratulations. Hope you all enjoyed it, i know i did.

10 Harbringers...9mil and 4 Blue Crystals
Seeing UWF die repeatedly and abandon their castle...Priceless

And you stole what? This wasn't thieving, pal - just griefing.

Let me know when you have an actual thieving story.

In other news, a couple UWFers obtained conjurer's garbs tonight. Thanks. :)

The goal of a true thief is to profit off of other peoples grief and distress, duh.

It would have been funny, were it not so spiteful.

When I last saw the book detailing which guilds were to be targeted by the "tax" last month, 100% of the guilds listed had a) declined to pay or b) challenged the tax. I'm not sure why UWF has struck a nerve, but you're taking it a bit too personal. Take a deep breath.

Anyway, it made for a fun hunt.

Probably because you're a very large guild and easy to get into... the ideal target...

I just think it's funny as heck that any guild would actually pay the "taxes".

While that would be an accepted outcome, wouldn't a thief much prefer a big payday with no-one the wiser? A brinks type ripoff, one though, where brinks didn't notice. Now to me, that would be the thieves preferred outcome. After all, the more people you upset, the more notoriety you gain. Thus making the next snatch all that much harder. The goat nonetheless remains the same, profit.

Yeah, that's kinda Shinobi's downfall: he likes to brag. The great, uncannily-sexy Chad Sexington can work for over a year stealing powerscrolls from the same guild without telling anyone. Even Oblivion can usually keep things quite to draw out profit. In contrast, every time Shinobi makes a good swipe, we all hear about it.

But again, this particular incident profited no one but the UWFers who got conjurer's robes. For Shinobi, it was nothing more than a failed grief attempt.

You two are role playing the hero. Shinobi is role playing the villain. While you may get joy out of doing pvm, EM events, Halloween Quests, ect... he gets his joy out of stealing the reward of that effort from you.

After all, you can effectively reverse your argument by saying your one true goal is the material reward of your effort. Shouldn't the purpose of a game be to have fun and enjoy it?

I don't think is humorous at all... in fact... it's actions like these that will push the Devs to either stop the harbinger summoning or issue a patch that will allow some other ridiculous rule to be put into place and restrict when, where, and how you can summon them.

Thanks to the OP for once again proving that if there is a way to take advantage of something in this game... someone will and will go over board with it... thus ruining it for everyone else.

I find it quite funny that Shinobi is able to actually pull off any steals at all considering almost everyone on this shard (and several others besides) are aware of him and what he does.

And then I remind myself of that plain book he paid something like 30mil for because some dude managed to convince him it was worth something... rolleyes: To a flaw, I suppose.

As far as preferring a big payday with no-one the wiser...

What would the point of that be? If I manage to steal something worth like 200mil you can bet your...whatever...that everyone....EVERYONE will know about it.
Of course, there are some that do it for pure profit. They would prefer that no-one knows about them..
It sounds alot more fun to me to play the game or get played... I made my move, what's yours?-type thing.

Then again, I made a thief because it looked like fun, not because I needed the extra gold. :) It's all about preference.
