CHA CHOW! Rockin. I like that faction changes pie in the sky thing a whooooole bunch, except maybe the limiting the number of factions. Not sure I follow that but maybe it has to do with available places to put bases.

Other than that, Just bring the whole planet up to that level instead of trying to figure out how to weigh down the pie to prevent it from floating away.

Glad to hear there is hope for MyUO.

Um on a side note, I will be interested to test deeded wall hanging placement when the publish hits origin, and if the fix is not in I will happily submit bug reports and feedback/FoF questions through appropriate channels. Ya'll keep doin whatcha do. The game is very fun right now.

Factions... huh. How about requiring the factions to do "supply/tribute runs" between their captured towns and their bases, along with the town capture. The faction leadership has to transfer a golden chest containing silver from the town to their base on a regular basis, it can only be moved by foot/mounted (or it generates a wagon graphic). The owning faction has to protect its loot run or lose it to the attacking faction(s). The loot can be used to replenesh 1) silver 2) faction materials 3) faction defenses 4) faction offenses. You can "save up" the loot to transfer, but after 7 real days it is used within the faction town for random faction defenses. You can also use up to 50% of the loot within the faction town for its own defense.

This would add some real strategy to the effort, and faction members would have to schedule their runs and time everything -- plus be able to set up ambushes, more of a need for spies, etc.

i still think they should just 'blow up' the entrance to TB and then 'blow up' a new entrance into the back of the castle.

that would effectivlly kill off the GZ being a issue for TB.

the COM base..... well, all the other bases are big and nice.... COM base just sucks.

it needs a revamp.

you know where it should go?
trinisic paladin island.
the whole island.

problem solved.

what else can i fix for you guys?

The big problem is Trinsic is not a mage city. It would be more appropriate to have it on Moonglow if the base were to be relocated.

As for the True Britannians, yes an entrance moved to the rear of the castle would solve the issue.

Don't forget to listen to the non faction players!

Alot do never visit the faction forum or join the debat because they don't like faction and don't want to be a part of it.

It can easy ruin the game for non faction players more than it already did with stupid faction taxes ruining the towns, special on Siege and faction artifact given faction players unfair advantage in PvP, also here it hid Siege badly.

A complete overhaul of the scoring and ranking system, with an eye towards rewarding healing, stealth, crafting, and other types of participation in addition to racking up kill counts

I hope it do not mean more carrots to lurer/force crafters and other non faction players to join faction, it's already splitting guilds and the shard (Siege) in two and now we are not even allowed to be in alliance with each others. In my opinion Faction should total removes from Siege.

Possibly reducing the number of factions to 3

Let me guess, Human, Elves and Gargyles = splitting up more guilds. No need to copy WOW and other games with their realm wars.
*Sorry my bad mood, but I really fear this ideas*

Rebuilding the bases to make them more balanced, including removing bases from areas within guard zones

Removing them from guard zone would be great.

Revamping town capture with an eye towards focusing the fighting, creating more intense battles

Why do the towns have to be involved, can't they fight about something else so crafters and other peaceloving players can have the town in peace and maybe focus on some RP and more quests npc's in the towns.

Adding more ways to use Silver, as well as working to fix various economic issues surrounding Factions

Hopeful not more unfair advantage to faction players. They should buy their armor and weapons from crafters.

Adding more benefits to controlling towns, with an eye towards allowing Factions to have greater influence on the game world

That's what I fear, non faction players will be the loosers here.
Let UO stay UO, don't try to make it WOW or DAoC or other realm wars games.

Better trash faction and go back to the good old Red vs Blue system but with some zones, not whole facets being zones where only guildwars can fight but all, also reds can go. (non of this zones on Siege)

And we need a duel system where players can test their PvP skills without risk.

And get rid of item insurance so crafters on normal shards can get their customers back

I like this here.

The lyceum (that place where you do the human-elf quest if I named the wrong place) would be a suitable place to move it I think.

Of course that would mean having to move the teleporter that leads into it

Is it REALLY that hard for people to understand WHERE they are getting the idea to reduce it to three factions?

Let's think for a moment here...

True Britannians - Their ideas still flourish
Council of Mages - Their ideas still flourish
Minax - She's still alive, as well as her goal to oppose Britain rule
Shadowlords - OH ****. The purpose of this faction was to help bring forth the Shadowlords and help them reign chaos upon people. Well guess what? THEY ARE DEAD! That can't happen anymore!

Seriously..

I wonder what faction they will kill off :stir: :stir: :grouphug: :stir:   :rant2: :sad2:
I'm guessing either the CoM or the SL faction.
SL's because they technically got destroyed through the story-line.
CoM because, well, who are they anyways? And their city got destroyed.

I -want- factions to have impact, and I would love to have factions have both a felucca and trammel component. Let's face it, if you were a SMART faction leader, you'd have supplies coming from Trammel CONSTANTLY to supply your troops.

Maybe through supply trains that start in Trammel cities, troop along to trammel gates, pop out in Felucca, and arrive in their base or Felucca city. In Trammel have only the wagons and horses destroyable, in Felucca, the supporting troops become an issue.

Logistics!! Logistics!!

I see Shadowlords going bye-bye. They were killed off anyways.

I'd like to see the COM moved to Moonglow - or take back Magincia! :p

They are a manifestation of a dark idea ... and you cannot kill an idea. They are merely diminished once more, exiled back into the shadows between voids until their whispers are heard once more.

Actually, from an in-game standpoint, following the roll of fiction, it sort of makes sense. While the Shadowlords themselves seem to have been defeated, their supporters (at least of their ideology) could certainly continue forth. Minax has been quiet, but she's not necessarily gone forever. Clearly the True Britannians will always be around.

Which leaves the Council of Mages...

It really makes no sense for them to continue. Perhaps as New Magincia is born upon the rubble of Magincia, the Council of Mages will see the err in weakening Britannia, and reunite under the True Britannian flag.

Because, honestly, as they stand now, fictionally, they've already pretty much lost. Magincia, their home, is dead.

They were more than a manifestation of a dark idea. Far more. And their recent defeat after a year long story arc would ripple down into the dissipation of their followers, mainly their army. Hence, bye bye faction.

Or they could be the other variety of evil followers... the type that get pissed off at the loss of their leaders, start looking for ways to resurrect them and their ideas and powers, and rather than lurk into hiding, get bigger balls and come out stronger than ever.

One never knows when evil's concerned.

The Factions thing sounds cool.

A player should have a LIMITED timeframe in which they can report a murder count. It makes little sense game-wise for someone to be able to wait till the next day to count the person.

Certainly, they have had their time in the sun (and then some, due to various twists and turns in getting the arc completed) and in a game with so little permadeath it would likely not be unwelcome to see a villain or three forever banished, but it would also close the door on a possible harrower-like mini-game finale based around the classic anti-virtue dungeons.

( There's a philisophical question about the use of Ultima canon here - should UO pass through the eras of the various single-player games as events or should it absorb and accumulate them as permanent content that is never fully resolved )

I would say pass through them retaining bits and pieces that make sense if you were to come across them later on.

In an MMOG setting, I have a weird problem with named boss creatures that continuously respawn. To me it kind of breaks the whole immersion level when you decide to go kill {Insert Name Here} for the 2nd, 3rd, 10th, 50th time. Even more so if they're part of an actual storyline where the culmination of the story is to kill said character.

For the shadowlords (or at least their role, if not actual named individuals) there is a very easy justification for having them return: the mantles of hatred, falsehood and cowardice as the antithesis of love, truth and courage, will always exist so long as the virtues themselves do, ready to picked up by others. The named shadowlords were just one trio of manifestations of this mantle.

As for the bigger question of "why are there so many Lurgs!", I like to explain this away with the Gem of Immortality that created the shards themselves. The shards aren't perfect copies of the original - there are tiny flaws and cracks. Around these flaws of the crystal are an infinite number of copies of the same space of the world pressing against each other - each respawn is like another copy of the world phasing in like the flickering of rays of light refracting through the cracks. There can be no permanent victory, but the exact urgency and motivation can be slightly different each time.

Why do all of my ideas make too much sense? Just make whichever faction HAVE to control the towns in order to 'unlock' the UBER faction items. If they don't own the towns, they are still the equivalent of the traditional arty.

Heres a complete example:
I'm in TB, we control all the towns. Orny has the MR3 bonus. SL stole 3-4 sigils! I now have a plain modded orny, but still faction blessed. We steal back 3 sigles from SL, my extra mod has returned. Replace orny with specific artifact/mods.

as long they are removed from Siege, I don't care. If not removed, they should act like traditional arty when fighting non faction players.

It looks good and bad at the same time while still not answering part 2 of the last question.

The bad part would be allowing more things with silver which would in turn result in even more silver farming done mostly afk.

The bad part: rewarding stealth? Seriously? So a person would automatically get rewarded for making a stealth ninja, archer or tamer...bad idea, bad. They're already rewarded with life being able to run around invisible to everyone. I am against this with a passion and i even have an alt stealth temp for factions.

My personal opinion is to just keep it simple. Factions shouldn't effect everyone across the shard. Revamp points, move bases, give faction players new uses for silver but don't make it effect non faction players.

Part 2 of the FoF question straight out asked if there were plans to reimpliment Chaos/Order. Why was that question dodged completely?

Well, since Factions is the direct descendant of the Chaos/Order system, it seems silly that people are looking to split hairs about them.

I mean, really, the old Chaos/Order system wasn't exactly anything that people couldn't accomplish themselves today. And it was fairly bug-ridden. Okay, I put on my Chaos Shield... I'm a Chaos Guard. Woot. I take it off, now I'm not. Go join a guild, start a guild war, and look out for others to attack you at will if that's what you're looking for.

However, Factions is the Chaos/Order system with at least an attempted structure to it.

I mean, are people really looking for the wanton killing of "I'm wearing a shield from the opposing faction" to really return? I'm betting these same people probably want to spread it into the Trammel ruleset too, because otherwise, can't you just go and beat people up in Felucca? Or is it that they want to beat up people without the repercussion of murder counts?

One simple question: What part of Order/Chaos is not being met by the Faction system?

All of your questions will be answered plus more if you venture a few pages to see a thread locked that i started about reimplimenting C/O. It had upwards of 70 positive reponses vs 3-4 nays. I'm not getting into that discussion again.

I simply asked why they would feature a 2 part question and completely dodge the part that i personally am interested in seeing a dev response to. The right response would have been a yes, no, or we'll look into it. Instead it was left completely ignored.

Except, of course, the one simple question...

What part of Chaos/Order does Factions fail to deliver on?

And I know why this question won't be answered.

There isn't one.

EDIT - Oh, I found the thread... exactly as I suspected. "I want to fight anywhere." No surprises there. Do you believe that opening it up to all facets would suddenly make more opponents appear than are involved in Factions and Felucca? Go down and talk to the Primeval Lich if you think that's true.

This is how it should have been only they should not act like traditional arties. they should be nerfed. How is it fair for the guy who paid 30 mil for an orni when the faction guy can go buy one for a few thousand silver that can be earned in 10 minutes.

Let the faction arties have whatever kind of bonus you want when fighting factions but when fighting non factions they should be nerfed.

Please read my post at the above link, as well. I don't know how to move the post but there are a few good ideas that you guys might not like.

Stratics should have a filing system that automatically searches for the keyword and then moves that post to the proper form. Keywords like PvP, Factions, etc...I can't see myself posting 50 times. Anyhow, thanks. :sad2:

Not move but a copy so that all the forums get to see what your talking about.

Yes, and for years now, those of you who want Chaos/Order to return have been as bad as the people who want a "classic server." Factions is the replacement for Chaos/Order. It's highly unlikely to return; it's been stated numerous times over the years. And yet those of you interested in Chaos/Order returning (so you can go have free reign PvP all over the place) keep chomping at the bit.

Nowhere did i say i want the opinion of C/O from alternating cap name guy.
Not that you care, but the name is elven, and is Ra'Dian Fl'Gith. You know, the name I use inside the game. But guess what? You can't use apostrophes here in account names. So I did the best I could.

I think it's funny (read: ironic) that someone with a dangling hyphen at the end of their name would be hypocritical enough to point out someone's capitalization scheme.
