Battle Chickens but no Brewing?!

Battle Chickens seem to come out of left field. I have seem some chicken fighting tournaments, but the last I heard they kinda fizzled. However, repeated interest, and many excellent ideas have been discussed regarding a brewing skill.

I applaud the hard work that the devs have put into imbuing so I don't want to seem ungrateful... but to think that a good bit of work has been put into something that smacks of animal cruelty just kinda bothers me a bit.

Brewing would take MUCH more work/testing than battle chickens.

Fine, let a couple devs work on brewing while others deal with bugs and whatever else there is. There is a team of devs who don't all have to work on the same exact thing...

Actually the animal cruelty remark was tongue-in-cheek. I was not aware of the original thread so apologies there. I am serious about the brewing though... someday. Everyone knows the Devs are busy, and the part about appreciating their hard work was well meant.

As i was Eving dragons and lava lizards, I thought how cruel it would be to battle chickens in the game. So i went out to skin some animals for leather to make some gold.

Not a big fan of PvP, but only because changes made to appease players who enjoy that playstyle often impact PvM adversely. If you all wanna run around Fel killing yourselves, go ahead.

Animal cruelty? Cock Fights go way way way back on uo. So to this one i have to just say SHUT UP!

cough... brewing? don't we already have alchemy? don't we already have cooking? if anything, brewing would just be another skill like masonry or glassblowing after you gm cooking.

but why bother? eating doesn't do anything, neither does drinking. i'm not sure we need yet another useless skill in the game. if you are really that bored why not try begging or herding or taste identification or camping?

that's not a bad idea, actually. why not make a skill called 'rare-making' that randomly makes rare objects for the express purpose of becoming valuable years later?

You call several skills useless then come up with "rare-making?" Anyway, a GM brewer/vinter would be able to mark bottles just like any other GM so that takes care of that.

Why brewing? Well, many folks enjoy the RP in this game and player-run taverns do exist. Kinda silly that a person has to place an NPC Innkeeper to sell alcohol at their bar.

FYI, eating does have a function... it restores Stamina.

Seems the Dev team has no love for the idea of brewing. Here is a post from Regine back late last year when I asked her for brewing.

It's not in the works. But it's part of my wish list (hops anyone?). But my wish list is mighty long and my more urgent task list including bug fixes is even longer. The long term plan is to make most of the peculiar plants produce a resource that will tie in with the crafting system: cooking, alchemy, tailoring and inscription (not sold yet on the plans for carpentry and tinkering).

So short answer:

brewing = hopefully
ETA = your guess is as good as mine

So us players have to figure out a way to show how brewing could/would help either the taming template,bug fixes,or PvP in some way.
