jack flash uk posted a great thread about the possibility of making the new Veteran Reward teleporters available to more players than just veterans in the game.

I was curious if people would purchase these items from the UO Store, and more importantly at what price point. Please be honest in how much you would spend per pair of teleporters in the UO Store.

Thanks, Rock

I didn't want to post this in your thread, but I was curious to see how much people would want these. The idea does seem popular in all the circles I am in . I was curious what people would pay though. Perhaps if Mythic sees the merit (and money) in this idea of yours, they would consider adding them in game.

I voted to sell for $9.99 per, but why limit it to house teleporters?

What about an option to buy a vet-reward pick (with or without account-age limitations in place)?

There's still a few more items I'd like to have...

Select, "No I would not purchase them". If you don't think they should be sold that is.
NO that means I would not want to spend money on them.

I dont want them for sale or available but as a 12th anniversary gift.

Not that it matters. But it would help the validity of the poll.

Sadly yes, I would pay for them to get them as I need 2 more set.

However it may not be not be a good idea. I don't know what they sell for on normal shards but on Siege people are paying 7-8 mills for them.
Maybe they could be a nice gold sink, let a npc sell them for 10 mills on Siege and maybe 30 mills on normal shards as gold is less worth on normal shards than on Siege.

Or make them craftable, the craftables should need to be recharged.
Comes with 200 charges on each of the 2 teleporter

200 granit, can be colored
10 blank runes
2 pet crystal
10 large mining gems, any of the kind will do

To rechange them (200 charges) should be needed a teleporter fix made of:

50 granit
1 blank rune
10 teleport scrolls
2 large mining gem

To recharge both teleporters, you will need 2 x teleporter fix

This way, the Veteran ones will still be the best ones, but all can get a set if they have the time to do the mining and hunt for the pet crystal.
The pet crystal is used for the teleport magi

If we can buy them then why make them vet rewards.

They need sep list of BUYABLE STUFF.

A reward is a reward.

You get them for putting in time. Not because you can afford to pay cash.

I really dont care if the tile set came out as vet rewards or buyable first.
But since it was given as a vet reward it should stay a vet reward.

Ah yes and might. U can find them on a certain website 4 sale, cant mention it here, but you can search for em ( not affiliated with site whatsoever).($45)

They would make great gold sinks.

A pair cost 29 million 999 thousand gold.
You can then buy additional tiles that link to the two for 100 million gold.

That would be cool.
I vote for that.

As much as it would be fantastic if they could sell them, I think it would be unfair to sell them now after making them 12th year vet rewards.

Perhaps a replica with charges could be craftable instead?

Well, I'm an old fart who took 2 of these and I want more. I could really use a few extra sets, but I have to wait a year just to get 2 more, as I just don't have the gold to be able to buy the number of sets I want in-game.

If this idea is implemented and you want to maintain the vet reward feel of it, perhaps 12 year accounts could get a discount on purchases. :)

The point is I don't believe there need to be UNIQUE and USABLE items that are Vet rewards at such a high level...

Stumps and gem carts, fine... if you aren't a vet then go mine or lumberjack. Ethy's... at least there are some available at low level so maybe you can't get the art you want but basically they are all the same...

The problem here is the offered benefit is SO Special, and it's only offered to 12 year vets when that's the max age at this time... so basically if you haven't been playing since the beginning and/or bought your account from someone who was... you are SOL.

I think there should never be rewards over 10 year... after that you get 3 picks a year, or maybe 4 a year... but they keep adding new rewards that are spread between 1-10 year stuff.

if you make them expensive, 'some' people will just dupe gold and then sell the teleporters anyhow. if you ask meee, i think as long as the teleporters are in short supply (ie. 12th year rewards) they are fine. i'm still not a huge fan of them anyhow--a bit too powerful if you ask me. so no, keep them as rewards.

Exactly how are they powerful? I mean, realistically, they just save you a few reagents from recalling between houses, right? So technically, they aren't any more powerful than an LRC suit.

IMO theres a HUGE difference between a 100% lrc suit and being able to teleporter between the INSIDE of houses requiring no magery skill etc.

They are a powerful item and had they been widely available I'd be rather annoyed, It's just another way of making UO even easier.. However 100 or so per shard because only 12 year vets can claim them is the best way to go.

LRC suits let you recall anywhere you have a rune as opposed to limited two way travel. Plus they let you cast all the other spells with no reagents/tithing/etc. Furthermore, anyone with a runebook can recall without magery.

Care to elaborate on the teleportation inside a house issue? The only place I can see this having an impact is Felucca. If this is what you mean, can you explain further?

You can't recall into a house, The teleporter tiles are just making UO easier. If everyone had one.. It really would be a lazy game. Next people would want a bank in their house and they won't need to leave their homes at all...

No, I dont want them to be purchasable on the website.
Veterans finally have an item to choose thats so useful and valuable, and you want to take that away from them basically. All the years they kept their account open, just so you can buy the thing they earned with their continued support of UO, right off the website.

I think this would highly **** off some people.

I vote yes only if they price it according to how much a player has to pay before they can claim these rewards:

$11.00 per month avg. for 12years = $1,584.00

they made these a 12 yr reward for a reason. no, there might not be alot of them on game but the ones that are on there deserve this reward. why take the one decent item they finally do get and make it available to all? i feel the vets deserve this. personally I would love to have a set myself but i will wait until i find a seller not beg devs to take away a unique item from the veterans.

I have to totally disagree. why shouldnt real veterans of this game get great rewards. I have been playing straight for 11 1/2 years, spent a hell of a lot of money to play, helped tons of people in the game, was a Companion for UO and continue play with as much enthusiasm as when I started. Hell I remember when I was 16 and the damn old farts were driving Mustangs and Corvettes and my thoughts were should that old bugger have a nice toy-- Now I am one of those old buggers and I do have a Mustang that I so coveted when I was young -- time should teach everyone that to quote a serious bunch of OLD OLD FARTS "YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT"

Because lets face it, the majority of the 12 year accounts ARE NOT the original owners. People are making money off this now selling older accounts.

Anyway, I agree the Vet Rewards should count for something, but lets be honest about what the majority of the 12 year accounts are....

Felucca :)

i jsut bought a set and i can go from house to house without the gamk outside

also to add to other posts saying vets deserve it etc and no they should not sell, i am a 6 yr player and have just bought a set and have another lined up, i can use but have ot buy with gold?

so its ok for a vet to claim and sell for gold?

so why should the non vets be held to ransom?

a 7 yr polar bear cannot be ridden by anyone under that age

if anyone who can afford to buy from a vet can use, why not selll then in EA code website?

for wehatever $ amount, if the vets want to claim and sell should that be acceptable to the masses, especially when some vets have "many" picks

sounds like "rich getting richer, poor getting poorer to me"

Perhaps not, but to qualify for a 12 year vet reward the account has to have been paid up for 12 years. Since, the same amount of $'s have been paid into EA, who ever has owned the account, it shouldn't matter if they are original owners or not. It should be, the way it is.

While not quite on topic, but since we are making wishes what EA could do.....

If EA wanted to make something that folks would buy, they could make a jewelry box that could be sorted similiar to a BOD book. Click on what properties that you looking for in your jewelry box and it brings up the jewel(s) that meet the criteria.

This isn't a new idea or even my own, but I would love to have something like that.

I also voted No in the poll above.

They should be for sale on uogamecodes.com. $9.99 a set is reasonable.

The fact that they have been awarded as vet rewards is moot, as you can buy soulstones there already too.

The advantage of claiming the tiles as a vet reward instead of buying...save $9.99 real life cash... they deserve it after all! :D

It is a reward because it doesnt cost you anything, that shouldn't mean that it is an exclusive item that others cannot purchase.

Personally, I think that if Veteran Rewards need to show a sign of appreciation to customers who stayed loyal a long time (and 12 years to me are quite a long time...) maintaining their account active, then the consequential rewards need to be significative for their long term status of Veterans.

Should they be available to anyone, even brand new players, otherwise, for example purchasing a code for them, then most of their appeal as a long term Veteran Reward would go lost.

Besides, I think that having high end Veteran Rewards that players may want, like the 12th year teleporter, is good for the game because it might motivate players in some cases to maintain their account active to qualify for that given Reward.
Hence, it allows more revenues to the game which is good to have support and new content.

So, I do not think that allowing the purchasing of high end Veteran Rewards through the purchase of a code for real money would be a good move.

I entirely disagree.

Veteran rewards, to my opinion, are there also to motivate players to maintain their accounts active so that eventually, they can qualify for those appealing high end rewards.

Should they be purchaseable buying a code for real money then any player could by pass the account age limitation and not have to maintian their account as active for the time required to qualify.

This would nullify, the way I see it, one of the reasons to have Veteran Rewards : that of having to maintain an account as active to qualify.

To gain a full year, a player needs to spend about 10 dollars a month 120 dollars for the year. Selling the reward for about 10 dollars would not be a good idea, IMHO, for the game as it could, eventually, lower the revenues for the game and so the resources available for support and new content.

If players want cool high end Veteran Rewards all they need to do is play the game, maintain their account active for the time required and eventually qualify for them.

So, I disagree entirely with the idea of allowing the purchase of high end Veteran Rewards codes for real money.
