To answer Bills question, sampires depend on damage output for viability. Fencing can certainly be viable, but many people go with mace for high damage output or swords for versatility and the whirlwind special.
To Static regarding training, here's the way I train it.
0 - 40 Buy in New Haven
40 - 55 Shadow wisps at Ilsh Spirituality/Lord Oaks champ
55 - 70 Throw on skill jewels to bring yourself to 70 and start golem whacking
70 - 120 Once you hit 70 real skill, remove the jewels and train to 120
Before I golem train, I usually complete the spellweaving quest. By using the weaving spell "gift of renewal" (human JoAT works; even elves can cast occasionally) on your golem, you can keep him fully healed. All you'd need to worry about, then, is keeping your 100% poison weapon repaired.
Another tip regarding training. You can train parry to 120 at the yew sheep pens in 6-or-so hours, but it becomes much harder to do so with high bushido. Either stone off bushido before training parry or train parry first.
