[Gardening] How do you grow your plants?

I'm itching to redesign my "greenhouse" (basically just plants all over the floor with chests and water troughs in the middle) and I thought maybe I could get some of the gardeners out there to post screen shots of how they organize the growing areas of their homes.

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunatly I grow them in my pack or my Beetles

But long in the past when i had time to make sure i could check them every day I was stacking them 6 high Lowering the bottom one as low as i could so i could just see it then spreading them out evenly virtically. This way when they actually sprout I could still see each individual plant.

I dont stack them because I cant tend them that way. I only put them in my pack when I am out of town.

The fern is out of line beause it has white seeds.

I put them this way... 5x5 so he can stand in the middle and reach the whole group.

Thanks Pawain. I've been thinking of putting them on tables and say stacking two tables on top of each other. I'll have to test that out. Anyone else?

I dont know how putting them on a table will react when the plant comes out. I dont stack them because I cant tell the plants apart once they bloom.

Using my rows, if you grow tall hedges, cypress trees, cocoa trees or other tall new plants, the plants behind them are hard to see.

I put new plants in the back when I am growing them. I dont ID them, so I dont know what is gonna pop up.

I keep a G poison keg and G cure keg in my backpack. Unless I miss a day, I dont need the other potions.

If I grow plants in my backpack, I use the enhanced client. The grid view makes it easy to water pots or plants.

My arrangement looks really nice if all my plants are blooming at once. I stagger the growths so it is rare that it happens.

My plants had taking over second floor of my castle and sometimes the roof too.

I don't stack them. I may use less place when I'm done sort/grow all my old seed.

I have my top 3 floors all plants. I do them 5x5 with a path between each set. I think I will try stacking 4. 5 in a stack was to much. I could not see all 5.
I love my plants.

My problem is that the way I designed my house, the room that is free for gardening isn't very large, so I'm trying to figure out how to maximize growing space. If I remember tonight, I'll get a screenshot. I'm growing as many as possible so I can do things like staining and gather seeds of renewal. I have yet to venture into basket weaving, but I might make some of those with this current batch. Plus, I think I actually got a mutant crossing and have some black seeds brewing!

I also garden 5x5 with a path in between, single tier. Over the years I've tried various methods, but this works best for me. Sometimes I will place some plants on tables mixed with bowls for a true greenhouse look, but it's mainly decorative. I dislike the lockdowns taken by the tables and old bench method and stacking usually causes me to overlook some plants. If I get time later I'll upload a couple of pics of previous designs. Currently I'm redesigning the plot I use for growing, when it's finished I'll post pics of it, too.

This is my current setup. I need to redo it again. It's a bit messy (I need to reorganize, everything just popped) but I'm a chaotic gardener anyway. Like flora, if I go with tables or multiple stacks, I'll miss them and end up with dead plants.

I have also set aside 3 chars that have nothing on them and they have a beetle. I load there backpacks and beetle with plants. That is another way you can do it as long as you long in each day for the growth. I always log in twice with each char.

i grow my plants not using house space at all, i dont like to see bowls everywhere in my lovely decorated home

i grow my plants in giant beetles of my crafters, there i can sort it in colored bags etc.

and i dont need to log in every day to care about it if i dont want to play a day or 2

This is basically my thought. I love the idea of a greenhouse, but it takes up too much room, and ends up looking pretty ugly. I've gone that route in the past, and maybe I'll go back again, but in the meantime I grow it all out of backpacks and beetles. The only real downside is that I get off-schedule too easily - sometimes I have 30 minutes at 9am to tend them, but too bad, they don't grow until 11am. That sorta thing. I wish there were a way to toggle server-up growth for backpack-plants.

yes and no

sometimes something happenes between and you are off shedule, right.

but i like it this way, because the growing cycle is only 23 hours, instead of 24 hours. so you can manage it to grow up a plant quicker. 9 days + 8 seeds thats 17 days. so lets say if you have a good timing you can safe 10-12 hours growing time average.

AND when open growing in a house the timer doesnt start when you plant it. it starts at next server up. so you lose time.

so all in all i would say you can save a day when growing plants in chars/packys

maybe i am not correct with timings

Here are pictures of my gardens on two shards. I usually prefer to keep the plants set out on the ground because it's a good incentive to log in daily. I only put them in backpacks when I know I'll be gone for a few days or if I need a break from gardening for a while.

I usually stack plant bowls 3-5 high and then spread them out once the full-size plant emerges.

In the picture with the chicken coops, the black cypress really doesn't belong there. I just couldn't bear to cut it up just yet. Maybe after Halloween. Can't really figure out where to put the darn thing!

You're absolutely right Myna - if you are capable of logging in exactly when your plants age, you can sneak back the timing and save almost a whole day. I only meant that, when your play schedule doesn't allow you to log in around the plant schedule, or varies from day to day, it ends up taking longer (because you wind up skipping days) - which you wouldn't if they grew at server up like locked-down plants. I guess I was just looking for the safety of growing in-pack with the flexibility of growing locked-down. :)
