We have almost no information on how the Boura Tail shield functions. Impossible to tell without more data.i got the bora tail sheild last week off a highlands, now which is actually better this one or and old 12/12 valorite buckler.i mean 12 hci is 12 hci
If your bushido warrior never paries, you're using a sheild/ your bushido/parry is too low, or you just don't pay attention. at 120 bush/parry it is more effective than 120 parry.i got one of these last week.. ive not used it yet because im not sure you can pof it back up to 255 if i do wish to sell it..
besides my warrior is a bushido warrior.. i suppose i could stone bushido and maybe switch out for magic resist.. then use a shield.. hmmm.
is bushido/parry more effective then shield/parry?
to be honest it seems like my bush warrior hardly parries at all..
120 bushido with a sheild is 5% parry rate, bushido lowers parry rate with sheild. Hense why you're not supposed to use one. Look at any Sampire at the bank, do they have sheilds? no, thats why, theres a calculator on stratics Basicly if bushido is higher/equal to parry, you get a massive penalty to it, if parry is higher, it's still massive but not completely negated, at 120 bush/parry with a 2 handed it is 40% with a one handed and NO SHEILD it is 35% with a sheild it is 5% and 120 parry with no bushido is 30% without a sheild is 15%i think 120 bushido/120 parry using a 2 hander is roughly 4% more effective than 120 bushido with a shield (40% blocking vs 36% blocking).
bushido warriors benefit from higher damage capacity, and evasion. shield fighters benefit with extra skill points to utilize, and an extra property slot to build upon, but less damage capacity.
while a player with 120 parry and a shield can hold their own, because a good defense is a good offense with stronger foes, shield fighters will have a harder time soloing the top game content due to longer battles.
I really don't care about the exact percents, I was just correcting what you said about parrying with shields. 35% seems too high but i honestly don't care enough to look it up,actually, 120 parry with no bushido is 35% with a shield, 20% without. thought it was 36%, but maybe that was before samurai empire. the big advantage of shields with no bushido are the properties on top of blocking. this is more important for paladins anyways.
bushido has way more advantages than the blocking though, with damage output the prime factor.
after trying out the boura tail, i still think it works more like the special move than the spell, since it worked everytime the parry happened. but my target didn't have any resists, and it could very well just be like the old ghoul's touch.
