I was going to take a good break after TOT3, but then all this happened.
Noticed this from Lady Sharween in another thread, but it seems somewhat relevant here, although not directly 'crafting'...

Am I missing something here? You need to use a high intensity LRC imbuing ingredient for jewels and armour (faery dust) to make a high intensity imbuing ingredient (elven fletching) which is only useful for lowering the requirements to use a shield?
That seems a little eccentric, LRC is rather more in demand than lower shield requirements.
I got one Seed of Renewal when I collected 35 thorns (7 each) from five bright green snake plants. And to boot, it stacked with the 7 other Seed of Renewal I had from Cavern of the Discarded creatures.
There is a new NPC in the tinker's shop offering two new quests that let you exchange one ingredient for another.
5 white chocolates + 1 dark sapphire ... and I got a silver snake skin
elven fletching + 10 bamboo flutes ... tried this 7 times and got 6 daemon claws and 1 undying flesh
So not a good deal if you've been successfully hunting, but a possibility for a pure craftsman to get some more combat-centered ingredients.

Thanks, Maplestone. I'll add this info to the stickied post about other SA ingredients. (Have already added the other info from this thread.) Too bad the elven fletching, so far, is a loot drop and not craftable. Maybe we'll find another way to get it as well.
Err... Tina, you may need more sleep - it is craftable, as mentioned above, but the ingredients seem a bit excessive

i am confused. because in your great threat "SA Loot Drops, Their Sources and Uses" that i really love you say the use for eleven fletching is: "Lower Requirements property" so the most useless property ever. so why are several people keen on elven fletching? is there a real use for it?
I just added a paragraph at the top of that thread that mentions the two new quests available from Aliabeth the Tinker in Royal City. Both quests promise "valuable imbuing ingredients" as a reward. We don't know yet the variety of ingredients that are obtainable from these quests. One quest takes one Elven Fletching and some bamboo flutes, and the other takes white chocolate and a dark sapphire.
Elven Fletching can now be crafted by fletchers from faery dust and feathers. Faery dust is pretty easy to get killing the pixies in the Abyss right below the Silver Sapling room. And, unless there's been a change today, you have no karma loss from killing those pixies either. I haven't checked yet, but perhaps you can also get faery dust from killing pixies and wisps outside of the Abyss.
I assure you no pixies were harmed in the testing of this quest.

My poor little carpenter managed to wipe out a few pixies and shadow wisps near the Spirituality shrine in Ilshenar but found no faery dust as loot. She didn't have much karma to lose, so I haven't completely ruled out the pixies or wisps there as a source of faery dust. She's just not the right character to clobber them. She got her 10 gargoyle shades killed to be able to get into the Abyss but I'm not sure she'll ever set foot in there.

Well, dragon blood, a reagent for mysticism, drops on reptiles in all facets, as far as I know. Other than that, I can't think of anything else. Oh, and some crystal stuff you need to make Gorgon lenses drops in the Prism of Light. And it sounds like you can get Seeds of Renewal to drop from plants anywhere. I wonder if boglings drop them now too.
The design intent of the ingredient system is to create incentives for people to play in the new expansion content ... so it doesn't make sense for them to spread things out over the old lands (at least not at this early stage of the game)

Just thought I'd let you all know, I found a crystalline blackrock on a bronze elemental I dug up with a gargoyle pick yesterday.
Was this in Ter Mur?
As for me I took my miner to the long tunnel in the abyss that leads to the primevil liche peerless. Double resources, but no crystalline blackrock. I was only there long enough to burn through a prospectors tool though.

Didn't want to start another thread on this but why can I unravel gm crafted bows of oak, yew, heartwood, bloodwood and frostwood to get residue but it will NOT unravel those made in ASH?

No, this happened to me while I was mining in Fel.
As a 11yr veteran who hardly ever plays anymore (but can't stand the thought of giving up the accounts), I agree with you completely. We don't need any more of the type of monopoly that Power Scrolls used to come under.
That's partly why I don't play much... Never know when I'm gonna be on (makes it hard to have friends ingame) and the RL friends I used to play with have long left the game. But I do have some good chars and am making an Artesian now - just to have fun with. Don't want to have to dedicate myself to playing 4hrs/day in order to have a chance to get a few ingredients...

Well, don't let it bore you.
I like the flexibility in acquiring ingredients.. hunt, harvest, quest, trade.. I think it's all good. I like as many alternatives to hunting as possible, as people tend to think double-clicking on a monster somehow equates to "hard work" for which they must be abundantly compensated.
As for why exceptional ash bows don't unravel to residue, I was puzzled by this myself.

I mined a crystalline blackrock straight up in Delucia Tram a week or so ago. I hadn't mined for a ages before then so assumed it was an addition to the types of gems you get and didn't think much of it at the time. I got my other piece off an earth ele just inside the entrance of Shame Tram with another Character.
So I guess you can mine them normally but maybe I was just very very lucky that time. (I've not had another since but then again I rarely mine nowadays.)

No one plays as many hours of UO as you do. Stop trying to act like anyting you can achieve by playing all day long with your slave labor children is achievable for all.

I sort of feel like hurting your feelings now, since you have spoken to me in such a rude manner. It's easy to hurt others, provided their lives aren't so unhappy there's nothing left to take from them.

For you (ABC1961) to acquire what you said you did, I'd love for you to tell us just how many accounts you have and how many chars were involved in your "sale" of 500 million worth of "stuff" in one week?
I don't know you so this isn't here to continue hurting your feelings, but I hope you see Theo_GL's point of it all. Certainly you MUST realize that what you said you did in NO way represents the "normal" player of UO. Admit that and then go on to consider doing what Theo_GL suggested. Contemplate your addiction to this world that really doesn't exist...

To gain a little perspective here. Theo_GL has almost 5,000 posts on these forums. He was being disrespectful, cruel and above all, a hypocrite. Simply put, he was trolling. There's a little saying about when you point your finger there are three pointing back at you. I don't think ABC1961 is the one that needs to get a life here...
Lets see here - 5,000 posts over more than 6 years and most of those are while I'm 'working' and sitting on boring conf calls. ABC has been here less than a year and has 550 and most of those have been over the last few months. In fact at one point he had 15 of the 20 recent threads on the first page of UHall. No one likes to talk about themselves more than ABC.
I'm not sure how I'm being hypocritical. I rarely get on here and 'brag' about how easy the game is or how many million I made last week. That was what I was objecting too.
If you would have read ABC's other posts - he explained how he has no job anymore and plays UO all day with a baby in his lap and his older kid whacks goblins while sitting next to himand his wife. Do you wonder how he has so much stuff to sell? Did you miss his posts about whether he would save over 1,000 blue crystals or not for the next event? Seriously. Every 5th post is bragging about what he has done or 'accomplished' in game.
Then he comes on and posts that he wonders why everyone thinks things are difficult to obtain and how he has sold 500 mil in stuff in the last week. As if we are all playing UO non-stop all day and we are all in some sort of contest with him and his UO addicted family.
And I'm not here to troll - I could care less about getting a 'rise' out of people and was just more interested in putting someone in their place that the mods can't/won't control.
I think ABC, Connor and Popps all ought to join the same guild and spend more time in guild chat impressing each other with their accomplishments and leave it off of UHall.
It is amazing how many people here seem to be way too obsessed by this game. It is a diversion from RL for entertainment - not a replacement for RL.
And I need to get a life? Really? Example - I played a grand total of about 45 min this past weekend spending my time putting xmass lights on the house, going to kids ice skating lessons, playing sports outdoors, visiting in-laws, taking wife downtown to dinner/show, hosting neighbors for dinner & sunday night football and doing about everything but UO and barely looking at a computer screen.
That is all.....
You nonetheless have 5000 posts on these forums. That's an awful lot of posts. Don't you think you could have spent that time while you were bored doing something useful, like reading some books, or doing some proper creative writing, or knitting, or just about anything to improve yourself? I'm sure you get the point.
And my point is, ABC's life has absolutely no bearing on anything in this thread, and the personal attacks you made on him also have no place in this thread, or anywhere in these forums. You were trolling, and you need to do some growing up before you are in a position to make any critical comments on anyone else's lifestyle.
If you want to make some comments on addictive behaviour patterns, and specifically with regard to mmo's, do some research, perhaps take some courses, and go find a proper venue to post or publish a properly researched and sourced article. This is not the place to do it.
You want to comment on how much time you think it takes to do what ABC has described, fine. You can make those comments without being a prick and engaging in personal attacks while doing it...
