[UO Herald] Pub 61 for TC1

Yeah, the little help scroll that pops up when you log on test does indeed say that TC1 is still on Publish 57.

However, if you go to the Lycaeum, the building in the southwest corner has a metal chest on the table (buggy label and all) that tells you that you may use it to turn in a vet reward piece of clothing for one in a different style but same color.

My character on TC1 that is at least several weeks old had no 12th Anniversary gift ticket in her backpack. I have a suspicion that the vet reward gump is disabled on TC1. Couldn't get it to come up and the account I'm using has available rewards and UO Assist wasn't set for that character to surpress the gump.

"Damage rate of weapons have been adjusted." Is that the damage rate done to the weapons from wear, or the damage our weapons inflict on others?
I believe it would be durability damage the weapon takes !
In the Abyss weapons where losing durabilty nearly every hit, so they probably mean that your weapon wont die as quick as it has been :)

since the 'weapon damage' people have been complaining of is the damage their weapon has been taking during combat, plus a promise that this will be adjusted. I would guess that is what is meant.

I had a pet theory that a wear-and-tear check had started triggering separately on each hit-effect (hit spell, each leech, etc), but never got around to doing a large enough test to prove/disprove the speculation.

This thread wouldn't be full of questions if the post was coherent. As someone else mentioned, a Five on Friday can easily come from the lack of clarity in that post.

I have finally reached the conclusion that whomever is posting these notes has English as a second language. If you can read and understand everything written there, you have some type of mental defect.

The TC publish came out on a Wednesday. Next it should go to Origin shard for a short period, then across the board to the rest of us. The earliest we should see it is Monday. The weapon durability loss is pretty important, so I think they will try to get it out ASAP.

You don't see the HUGE difference between those 2? One affects gameplay and gives an unfair advantage in PvP, while the other just takes up more lockdowns in your house or storage in bank/backpack.

Which do you really think is more important?

Players can no longer unravel items after they have been traded
This can go one of two ways:
  1. Items that go through a trade window get flagged as such and thus cannot be unraveled, either for a short time or permanently. This makes sense, because if you're trading an item through a trade window, odds are you're selling it to someone so they can use it, not so they can unravel it.
  2. You have to be the first person to pick up an item, or else you can't unravel it. If you pick an item up off the ground that someone has dropped, you can't unravel it. If one character loots an item, sticks it in a secure container, and another character picks it up, they cannot unravel it. This effectively kills Imbuing outright, as most people do not have Imbuing on a combat character, meaning they don't have any way for their Imbuer to be the first character to touch looted items.
I'm thinking that the actual fix is #1. However, if it's #2, I will never ever bother to take up Imbuing.

My read of it is that an exploit is being closed (one where you could still unravel something after it was in some else's possession)

*tested my theory and was able to reverse engineer and reproduce what the issue was*

How would I know by looking at an item if its been traded before or not?
E.g. I buy minor artifacts to unravel them - from guildies, at the bank, from vendors, etc... so that would no longer work?

This is in reference to an exploit and doesn't affect normal game play. You can buy/trade items as usual and then be able to unravel them.

Huh? Egg Bombs are about the gimpest item in the game, they shouldn't be stackable. Bad enough they made apples stackable.

I think you're right, but if people are a bushido, or if people are hitting slimes or acid-based creatures, wep dur is going to go down wicked fast. I don't know, other than killing the rat bosses I didn't notice anything strange on my dexxers.

This is surely not one of the more important fixes, but I really have to know...what is the following bullet point about? lol

"Giger no longer hates Neville, therefore he can talk by without taking cannon damage."
If you tried to take Neville, the NPC in the underworld who wants to see Dugan, and you instead try to exit through Fire Island entrance, the cannon kills Neville. After this change, no more cannon to Neville.

However, Neville can also be killed by other players, their EVs, etc., so all in all it's a pretty stupid quest that can easily be griefed :/ but it is also a really nice reward. IF YOURE A DEXXER OR ARCHER :(. Bring back slayer talismans for mages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fixed an issue with players losing bonded pets when they did not log out with the players.
Plant clippers will now cut any plant that has the word Decorative in it
Snake Skin Boots and all masks (bear, deer and tribal) are now dyable with staining dyes
Gem’s color rotation now has a chance of being blaze.
Snake charmer flute recipe now requires 3 luminescent fungi instead of 2 blights to craft
Both facings of glass swords can now be used as ingredients for crushed glass
Fixed an issue with Scroll Binders, Alchemy scrolls will no longer be shown as Anatomy scrolls when bound.
Removed Trap scrolls placed in binders having a TID error
Players can no longer tame the temporary summoned Raptors
Fixed an issue with Medusa petrifying your pets and the pet losing their original hues.
Iron Beetle no longer requires taming to control (still needs SA entitlement)
Gargoyle Race change tokens are now blessed
Fixed an issue with the Despise bridge causing Line of Sight issues
Casting while holding a weapon will no longer damage the weapon.
The 3.0 SoT reward from the trap maze puzzle has temporarily been replaced by a Lucky Coin.
Wow, is that why my staff of magi was getting beat up? :p pretty good list though

To Beastmaster, Go easy Bro. You want to see a real grammer horror show? Go try and read a civil engineers's bid sheet to the city of N.Y. some time. You'd probably short circuit.

All in all a nice list of fixes. i would also take note to the other poster's point that the rewards don't go live until the free promotion ends.

Most likely this will be on TC for a week so all of those taking advantage of the welcome back promotion can see what they will be missing. Then released to Origin on the 19th and rest of the shards then next day or two. That would leave just less than 2 weeks to claim ticket. Just my theory.

You know this type of issue, i.e. vet rewards and 3.0 sot's is a real issue if you think about it in terms of game economics and something that the dev's must always be cognizant of.

if you allow the rewards to be accessible to the returning players than they become flooded in the market and in essence they become no big deal. If not they are more valuable as well as being a sort of status symbol to the players out there that have been around from the inception and are the true reward to the loyal play base.

same for the 3.0 sot's. a 3.0 taming or imbuing can command big gold, comparable in price to some true rares out there. in this regard i can see why they would close these down for the time being, otherwise they should of
left the bos bug in there so more sot's are generated and the price comes down.

i'm not passing judgement on what is the right thing to do per the above, just stating whats plausible in managing the game mechanics.

Does that mean people who bought the Vollem crystal off a vendor but are not on a SA account have them vanish? Or the tinkered pets? Or traded pets they paid other players for?

I'm assuming that's 'Remove Trap' SoTs? Can't recall a PS for that skill...

How do you get a temporarily summoned raptor? Can't be Nash's Field, can it? Those seemed to me to have pretty much the same lifespan as normal spawned raptors? Is there a talisman, or are they in a summoning spell now?


I can mostly work out what the sometimes tortuous grammar is getting at in many of the other notes, but really folks, you can do a lot better than this.....

Hey there I can answer some of your Qs. Removed Trap is indeed Remove Trap, and if you tried to add a Remove Trap Scroll of Trans to a Binder it would create a TID error like we used to have for certain seeds, basically making the Binder useless, I assume. Happened to me, hehe.

As for the raptors, each raptor will call up to 2 other raptors which will attack from the sides, and these 1-2 extra raptors (depending on terrain) used to be tameable. The problem was after you tamed them, they would disappear, because the AI says the 1-2 extras have to disappear after a short while. Now you can't tame the extra raptors, which you weren't able to keep.

How can you trade items among characters in the same one account ?

Is there a way to have up at the same one time 2 instances of the same one account ?

Ah, thanks for that - especially the 'raptors' part, I was wondering if there was some sort of 'player-summonable' raptor that was being tamed!

No idea where to post this. Did this publish change some SA walls to a brighter hue? Specifically the dark gold ones. They are now a garish bright yukky gold color.

This is on LS and Atl who have not gotten the new toys yet. Is it possible part of the patch is in? Others saw this as well. It is really ugly now. :(

Oh... thought you had changed your design... I thought it looked nice.. much more contrast between the wall types... really brings the design together.

I thought i had a video card problem lol IT IS SO UGLY NOW i uesed those tiles as well now i have to make i new house really really ugly now why did they change the colors

im having all sorts of strange things happen as well like my back pack closing on its own and heal bars not reading proper strange annie affects really buggy now ohh i cant log in most the time i have to keep rebooting

they screwed something up thats for sure :cursing:

But the post was coherent to everyone else. I don't see any questions in here about incoherent posts except from what you started.

Patch notes are just notes of what they changed. Discussions here are simply to bring more detail to particular notes of interest. If they went into detail over everything listed there the link would be many more pages long and would take a lot longer to get posted.

I kinda agree with Beastmaster on his point, maybe not on the way he is making his point though. Whoever is posting notes should have a second person read over them for corrections (I sure hope it is's QA that approves the notes!). When I get an engineer's bid sheet (btw, it is NOT "engineers's" - LOL) with errors, they have to correct and initial the corrections. Too many errors and it gets sent back or outright rejected... if the bid is that sloppy, it makes you wonder about the quality of the work.

Sorry, didn't want to answer this until after the publish went live.

There was a bug where if you selected "barbed leather" and crafted gargoyle cloth armor, the armor would get the barbed leather bonus for free (and then still be able to imbue it as a blank item).

I wasn't entirely sure if it was a bug or a feature (since you can achieve the same result enhancing an imbued item, but you risk a high chance of catastrophic failure), but it seemed to be too good to be true. I guess this update confirmed the answer was "BUG!!"

Anyway. Say, base phys resist for cloth is 5. With spined bug bonus its 10. But max imbuable resist even with this bonus still 20 (base 5 and 15 imbue).
