OSI taking over IDOCs

More and more as I look for IDOCs, I see homes for demolition controlled by OSI. I was watching one IDOC and just before it went, OSI took it over. They say demolition pending, but I have seen some sitting there for months.

What is the purpose of this? Why are they doing that?

Usually its because the decaying house has rented vendors. Those vendor spots were paid for and the time allotted (up to a month payment) needs to cycle through, then they go in the house sign so the renter can reclaim the vendor inventory, and then the house can fall. So it can be a few weeks before an OSI house falls. If one lasts for longer than that period of time (and they do sometimes) then you could send in an email with coords and it will probably get dropped at some point. That being a point in time that coincides with you camping the house is unlikely, so I'd really only bother with this if you like the spot or its next to a house of yours or whatever.

I have caught OSI houses before, but they are very tough to predict and you can tear your hair out over when a house will actually go. However I did get a very nice one all to myself (one of those khaldun statues in it among other things), so I can't say it isn't ever worth it. ;)

What's odd that of three houses that I know of, none have vendors.

The vendors may be in the house sign already. Also banned account houses can be put on the OSI cycle though I think that is more rare. When they fall is contingent upon how they do their account banning process - if your account is banned you can always email in and contest the ban, so I think there is a time period for the houses from these accounts to cycle through before they just get dropped. But I'm not really clear on how that works.
