(renowned) creatures?

Does anyone know exactly what these creatures are for? Do they drop any extra loot, I was thinking perhaps a cousin of Ilshnears Paragons? Any ideas or facts would be greatly appreciated as I am sure I am not the only person wondering.

They are the final tier of the minichamp spawns:

Yes, they do have a (small) chance of dropping an SA artifact, but otherwise their loot is unremarkable.

I tend to see them as a "stop and deal with me!" checkpoint for people farming essences and other imbuing reagents.

Ahh ok, thank you, after several kills of these much more difficult creatures I was beginning to think that they only gave extra reputation, which im not even sure of.

It would really be a nice addition if they were to add how many loyalty points each mob gives in the hunters guide.

most of the spawns need to be slowed down.. it only takes about 5 minutes to go through all the stages.

they are a waste of time except to restart the spawn, it sucks you have to kill one of these every couple of minutes.

Restart spawn? That got me curious,is there a trigger or something that makes the room spawn again after ya wipe everything out? I moved out to another spot thinking it was a timed thing.

The spawn does excalate pretty fast but I like that. I don`t think it needs to be slowed down. Just wondering if an area just respawns the lowest creatures (restarts) or if theres a trigger or something that makes the area respawn?

Yea prolly a stupid question but believe it or not I`m just starting to get aquainted with the abyss.Not very well traveled yet.

I think the spawn advances too quickly as well. I spend 5-10 minutes killing spawn and 20-30 killing renowned. I ve killed dozens of the stupid things. My favorite are the rats and the pixies just for ingredients but I want proof of artifacts.

You have to kill the renowned for the respawn to restart. It's not timed, and if no one kills the renowned, it never restarts.

Which makes it annoying to actually get the Abyssal cloth. The ratman renowned seem to have the highest HP of the lot, and people kill until the renowned spawns, then leave the area.

I was just fighting a renowned pixie -- first time, so forgive any ignorance here. I died and when I came back from rez, it was gone. Do they go poof after a certain amount of time?

Renowned ratmen take a ridiculously long amount of time to kill, but do a ridiculously low amount of damage. Like I could go knock out a Dreadhorn in the time it takes to kill one renowned ratman solo.

That's cool all I've gotten is 120/255 durability so far hehe

that's an interesting question. i was fighting the ratman renowned and after i got him down to half HP he disappeared. and i had been at it for a good 20min soo... perhaps it's a bug?

The renowned pixie has tons of HP too.

I like the amount of time most spawns take for me to cycle thru them. They're kind of perfect for a short UO session just to get in there and go all the way through. But I'm a tamer with a greater dragon in tow, and thats actually pretty mediocre as far as killing speed goes for most of the stuff down there.

I believe they mean they want more spawn between when you start a spawn and when the annoying, relatively worthless renowned mobs spawn.

The renowned are not guaranteed to drop anything useful, have a lot of hp, and are just a general time sink with little reward. Where it is much more useful to just kill the normal spawn waves for what you're looking for.

Perhaps there is still some hidden use to the renowneds? Draconi did say we haven't found everything in SA yet.

Other than the Abyssal cloth I often get from these renowned ratmen last night I got an AF, Storm Caller boomerang, same color as Raptor Claw but different graphic.

Battle Lust (whatever that is)
Str bonus 5
SSI 30%
DI 40%

It also has a shorter ranger than regular boomerangs, 6 instead of 7.
