Faire Grounds Entry Details!

We have received word from EM Tashik that the entries for consideration in the contest to design Legends Faire Grounds will be posted here on Stratics and the deadline for entry is September 30th.

If Uriah or Maplestone could create a sticky up top for entries only that would be perfect. We could then use this thread for any chatter, questions, concerns...... how does that sound?

Polish up those entries, Legends!

designs for the faire grounds are likely to be rather large, and I think it would probably be acceptable to post a link to something like photobucket and host the designs elsewhere

photobucket is free and they give you more than enough room for hosting pictures


just a thought for those of you that are concerned about the size of the files

Ping, to answer your question about coloring the tents..... it appears that everyone but me used Kurgan's HouseBuilder to build their design, and I never did figure out a way to do it in there... I'm pretty sure I tried to copy a tent design and colorize it from there, but could not release the background or make it transparent, I'm just not savvy in that way

tho I would have rather used Kurgan's I decided to try a screen print of the area and building with images from InsideUO (this is a tool listed on the main Stratics page, and gives you images of all artwork in the game).... so what I did to color things was this:

open up the base image (fairground area) in paint
open up InsideUO
open up GIMP (this is a free image manipulation program, like photoshop)

then.....

• select image from InsideUO - right click image on the chart (don't double click to open) and select copy
• paste image into GIMP
• use color sliders to dye the image
• copy image
• paste image into paint foundation (and right here is where I always realize that under 'Image' the 'Draw Opaque' option needs to be unchecked)
• your pasted image will be in a little box that you can move to where you need it

and that's pretty much why not a whole lot was completed on my entry.... but I had fun, and learned a few things along the way

all of the entries look so good and if it was up to me, I'd take bits and pieces from them all and build a faire grounds.... of course, then the faire would extend entirely around Luna, but hey

No kidding, everyone was really creative.
I cant wait to go to the grand opening and see the winning design in game.
Should be a cool day with hopefully a good deal of role players coming out to help set the scene.
Maybe even some sort of event that day if were lucky!


Maybe if they give us a decent heads up on the event date some of us can get some player ran events together for before of after the EM event that day if they have one.
(I know im eager to get my battle chickens out and play with em, best dressed contest is easy to host and is an event I know EMs themselfs have held before. Mage Poker! Races, Scav Hunts. If anyone wants to get together and talk it out im more then willing to participate and help)
