I was thinking about this since UO is already 10years old and we do not have 10th year vet rewards yet, what would make fitting rewards for our 10year vets? Feel free to post any comment, bad or good or suggestions and reasons why or why not

Vet Reward Shrouds: choice of 5 Different Shrouds each with 5-10 Resist Points of either Physical, Fire, Cold, Energy, Poison

New Ridable Mount? not sure any mount would be as fun as the coca-cola bear we already have, unless they give us Ridable Piggies or Monkeys!!

Reward Metal DyeTub? Dont know if we need one, many have suggested it, we already have so many types of dyes already to make us look like clowns

Not sure what else would be Fitting for Our 10year Veterans, Like I said, Flame or Post Suggestions away but try Stay Polite and Semi-Civilised

I've got a few ideas...

- Vet reward sash with a random +3 resist (No acct age limit, or if so 3 or 4 years)
- Vet reward Talisman with +5/+10 skill bonus
- Vet reward item bless deed (Tied to acct)
- Vet reward armour peice (6 peice suit, one peice per selection) with all 70's resists and random additional bonus (+20 HCI/DCI/DI/HLD/LRC/LMC you get the idea)
- Vet bonus 24x24 custom house
- Flying Ethy Mount (Acct age tied)
- An additional +5 skill bonus
- An additional +5 stat bonus

I like the idea of the Shrouds, but not with any stats. I dont think Vet players should be the ohnly one to have a leet robe/ shroud. If you did do it thought it should have the same 3% resist as a vet robe.

How about we fix the bugs in the current pixel crack before we add more? But of the list you present I would like a way to color metal armor. <shrug>

I would like something that allows me to not fail at attempting to enhance a item..Maybe like 5 charges or something that would allow me to enhance a weapon armor shield etc knowing that it will enhance and not break.

That would be pretty sweet but there isnt much they could add. If you've been playing 10 years do you really have a problem getting some of the best items? Maybe a multi account soulstone or something. Most people (not just vets) have multiple accounts and i've heard it said alot of times that they wish their skills were on their other account to soul stone them.

I'll second the "clown shoes" suggestion, just because it would be hilarious to see only the true veterans among us running around in 'em. It would certainly add a giggle to my day every time I saw a pair, and really, what more could you ask of clown shoes?

Being a hopeless decorator, though, I would probably vote for something cool that we don't currently have available as decor. The mounted dragon head is one grand suggestion; I also love those two-story statues. Ooo, or a marble bench and table set! If new art assets are possible in the current dev schedule, maybe large decorative rugs (tokened, select a size and color to best match the room you want to carpet), usable clawfoot bathtubs (with bubbles!), or a floor-to ceiling, multi-tile stained glass mural of the founding of Britannia...?

I'm still for unique titles, they can't be sold, or traded......face it, anyone can be a lord or lady these days. That title has no signifigance.

Unique weapons or armor, account bonded....

A vet reward that displays uniqueness.....and account bonded.

And why shouldn't you you've been playing for ten years? But the chances are I will never be able to ride an ethy polar bear. So should I just quit UO and join a new MMORPG just starting up?

This has to be a delicate balance. One that will please the vets and not up-set the young'uns. Or we may see the ever decreasing number of players, decreasing further more.

Uh, so how are you at a disadvantage to someone riding an Ethy Polar Bear? Does it drop cajun fish steaks that give extra stamina?

What the hell is wrong with people these days and entitlement? I gotta have everything or I'm going to quit. Thats stupid.

I disagree with vet rewards that give a big 'bonus' to someone - but vanity items are fine.

Stand back, admire the person on the Bear, and then cruise off on your Charger of the Fallen.

Besides, by the time you achieve a ridable bear - the person will be riding an ethy gazer or something.

Say it to yourself 'I do not have to have everything possible in the game... I do not have to have everything possible in the game'.

For the record, my account is not old enough to ride a Polar Bear and it doesn't bother me one bit.

I still like my idea, an etheral mount statue dye tub, you dye your ethy mount from a selection of hues maybe similar to the recent valentine stuffys. Once your ethy statue is dyed, when you summon your mount it would then be hued the color that you dyed it, instead of transparent.

They are just more ridables, so they wouldn't be an imbalance. They already exist, but were forcibly removed when the good/evil system went bye bye, and lots of 10 year vets probably remember that and weren't too happy about the witch hunt GMs went on to delete them.

Metal Dye tub would be neat, but I would like color ranges of a regular dye tub.
Familiars-animals that stay with your character anywhere you go, or stay at your house. but smaller animals, Birds, Cats, Dogs, Cranes, Pigs, Spiders etc and are of ethereal make.
Maybe some Clothing options like with AOS but have reference to your character 'surviving' "X" amount of years in UO.

Thats all i can think of for vet rewards for now...


I would pay to be able to have more than one house on my account, but on different shards, max 2 or 3 houses.
Like Evilminion, I would like to see some nice home add ons, I really dig the 10th anny heritage token decor and I would love to see them add some kind of medieval toilet and bathtub combo.
Also more choices for trophy heads and maybe even a different kind of fountain like the ones we have now, but maybe with different animals on top?

I personally think if someones been playing for 10 years then they should have an advantage.

It'll give some value to account age again, at the moment to get the decent stuff you only need to be 4 years or over. Give the 10 year vets something to gloat over, hell they deserve it after all this time.

I posted this idea once before.

I would like a dyable vet +3 AR cloak and robe so guilds can have the same colors. This would stop players needing to take the resist penalty just to match color, or if a char is too new to wear the vet reward should the guild decide to use a current vet reward item as their color.

So that you can convert the optical properties of your Gypsy headdress to the layout of a dragon scales helm with all properties changed (or any other hat/helmet).
Maybe let the name of the item as it is, but give it an attribute like ""Modified by ..."

My thought on this would be a personal Pet....... Done like the personal attendant that can either be left at your home to attend your house and greet guests or follow you all around and do a trick on command.....

You could chose from things like:

Dread Spider (won't fight like the personal attendant it's imunne to attack but follows your command) Spits a web onto a wall that remains for 3 to 5 min...... (only once per 5 min) Hiss's when set to "guard" your house.

Dog (Barks on command sits on command, Will bark or growl if set to "guard" your house)

Cat (purr's or meows on command, rubs against your leg on command, Meows loudly if set to "guard" your home

Falcon ( Flies behind you when you walk sits on your shoulder when you stand still, Screeches when set to "guard" your home)

Small dragon (Could look like a blue colored wyvern only a tenth the size, Flies behind you when you walk.... sits beside you when you stand still, Roars or breaths fire(somewhat like a flaming head deed) when set to "guard" your home)

Other critters that could be added: Bear, Great Hart, rabbit, ferrit, squirrel, llama(purple of course!), bat, panther, snow leopard, walrus, wolf.

These things could be awesome for folk who enjoy RP..... So I'm thinking these could be added to the 2nd year reward.... Or 5th at the longest...... but I wouldn't make folk wait till 10 years.... Though it's a really cool idea...

But that's my thought....... The only thing I could wait 10 years for would be that ellusive metal dye tub..... (long overdue imo)...

I would love to have the riddable Dread spider!..... another thing I want those spider wall tiles..... how about a recipie for making that nice wooden two piece bench that is in Nu'Jelm's palace..... I still want one.... How about a recipie you can get for making the marble benches and tables....... (marble making can be added...... this can be something that you have to learn to mine..... Another nice bonus for crafters....) And or marble can be found in treasure chests.... anything that gives a boost to crafting is good.

I'd like to be able to get nifty earrings... Maybe a pair of earrings that doesn't really add much..... just maybe a random +1 stat bonus..... like +1 dex.... or something.... nothing that unbalances things.... Nightsight, darksight(for elves who want to see darkness).....

How about an embroidery kit...... that allows you to embroider clothes like a weapon engraving tool..... This way you can embroider a nice sash to commemorate something neat. (Another good item that would add to roleplay and communities)

Give them their own vet server with transfer tokens and then give them a higher skill cap so it's more fun! (only able to xfer there and not back, and only way to go their is with a token or a form up upgrade code to unlock it for your account)

How about a token that add's one mod of max intensity to an iteam, one time per iteam only and that iteam can be used by anyone, so lets say you add 40 ssi to a weapon or nightsight to a ring no mods that arnt already on the list of avalible mods on an iteam.

Well this is just my opinion but I believe that the Die-Hard Players that have been here 10 years should have the option for owning a 2nd house on any shard. They have been here the longest and deserve it, and gives the rest of us something to look forward to in the future.

they need to change the housing system. make it like skill points.. after a certain year you get 1 more house spot per year.. one per shard.. there is a lot of house spots open so it wont cause any problems..


its impossible to play this game on more then one shard without a house, even if its small..


for a 10 yr reward a pbd would be nice.. it wont be over powerful because we have insurance now..
a metal/leather dye tub with regular colors would be nice..
another nice item would be a regular dye tub with the leather dye tub colors..

or maybe even a super dye tub that dyes anything.. have 3 menus, regular colors, special colors, leather colors.
