Hello all,

I have had a major string of bad luck and hope there is something that can be done to help me out of a little jam.

I recently purchased a new home, switched ownership to it and was going to open a new account to play and take ownership of my old house.

I unfortunately had a major family issue arise and had to leave town for a few days to get things squared away. When I returned and was able to get some time to get into the game again, my old home has been taken over by OSI. Much of my UO life is in that home and I'm terribly afraid that because of unfortunate outside forces I may lose many years of hard work and personal memories.

I have attempted to contact a GM and was referred to the knowledge base. Please if anyone out there has any helpful info I would appreciate it very much. I am terribly worried about this.

Thank you very much.

I thought houses went Owned by OSI when the account holding them had been banned...

You had rented vendors at this house?

OSI is OSI. You don't own the house anymore. You must have rented vendors there, they are what kept the house from dropping when it went idoc. You can claim their inventory and gold and dismiss them and then camp the house. It should either fall very rapidly or a few days from then. However you'll probably have competition from other campers.

Good luck!

actually it's when the go idoc and have vendors - instead of falling, they become "owned by OSI" - and to the OP, once that happens, I don't think there is any way you can get it back :(

*edit* sarsmi types faster than me hehehe

Keep in mind that even though the house is owned by OSI co-owners still have access to everything they did before. I'm not sure about owner privileges but a co-owner might be able to get your stuff.

On Pac a Luna City vendor house owner placed a smaller house at an idoc spot on Zento, which put his large Luna City vendor house into decay.

He sold the new small Zento house for 100 million gold.

He had no other account to swap his Luna City vendor house too and it was still decaying.

So he called Customer Service and they not only stopped his Luna City vendor house from decaying they gave him the 20% storage increase that you have to buy. For free.

I don't recall exactly what he told me about what he said to Customer service, but Customer service told him he wasn't properly informed of the house placement rules or some such nonsense so he deserved to have his vendor house saved and some extra free storage to boot.

OSI means the game owns your house now.

I owned an OSI (the small Zento idoc the guy placed on in the above story) and while I could not fully control the house sign but I could still access it and all the containers in the house as well.

Try changing the house to public (if it's currently private) via the house sign if you can't get inside.

If you can change it to public see if you can at least remove the items you have inside containers.

Try calling Customer Service first though.

Yes I have rented vendors in the house belonging to another account that I have. Thank goodness that they are there or I would really have absolutely no hope right now.

Thank you for the message. I attempted to get into the home with the only character that I know for certain was a co-owner. I can't get in. :( I appreciate the idea. I'm really freaking out here..

Did you try with the same character who has the rented vendors?

I just tried all of my characters. And now I don't even see the names of the vendors in the house anymore... :wall:

Anyone have the # to CS handy? I'll try calling them I suppose.

If you single click the house sign with the character who is renting the vendors you should be able to see the vendor names and how many hours are left to collect their stuff.

I just noticed that, a little over 150 hours...whew. At least I know I have a little bit of time to work on this. I thank you very much Sarsmi for all of your info!

This is pretty much where my wealth of OSI housing knowledge ends. They are difficult to time for when they will drop so I almost never bother camping them. Hopefully someone who has had experience in this situation (campers or people who have had homes that went OSI) can give you some info about when the house might go.

I expect it will drop in 150 hours if you do not take the vendor stuff off. Or if you take it off it will cycle through very quickly and fall in a few hours. Or you could take the vendor stuff off and it will drop in a few days. Those are my guesses! I would seriously consider leaving the vendors on, grabbing packies, parking boats, and in general getting super prepared to camp your own house in 150 hours time. If you see other people camping don't tell them you know when its going to go (or rather when the vendors will run out). You might get some help though if people know you are camping your own house.

You could take all the vendors off except one of them as well. At least you will get that stuff back and not have to worry about it when the house goes.

What happened to the account that owned this house? If it was only a few days you should still be able to transfer the old house to a new account.

"A condemned house cannot be refreshed, and will decay within 5 days. Houses will become condemned if a player places or acquires a newer house on any shard, or if the player's account becomes inactive."

Were you gone more then 5 days?

The old account is still in great standing, just own a different home now.

I was going to set up a new account the day after I transfered to the new home to take over the old home. Got a phone call the next morning that forced me to leave town for 4 days. Got back Sunday morning and couldn't get time to log in until late last night. By that time OSI had taken ownership.

I'm afraid that I'm looking for a miracle here. I just have a very hard time walking away from all those years of work. To have a terrible thing happen to a family member, then to come home and see that the game I always use as a release from everyday life is in shambles is a little disheartening.
