From what I understand, Item ID has no bearing on Imbuing success or anything like that. All it does is provide information that might be helpful for you, telling you what resources you would get for unraveling an item. I haven't tried using it, however, but that was my understanding.

Yes, when you ID something now it will tell you the 'value' as well as what it will unravel too if your imbue is high enough.

Just wait till you get to the slith tongue part...

I think this one use for item id is silly. After a while we wiil all have a fairly good idea what makes what. Waste of points as it is.
