[UO Herald] Shard Issues

That's right on the ragged edge of 50% downtime since SA's release ;)

That's what happens when you take my shard down - I do maths!

7:40 EST was the time I have down as the 50% mark.

Its not a very good selling point for new players :(

In fairness, it's in the first 48 hours of the expansion, on one out of 20-something shards.
In all, the game's had >98% uptime since the expansion.
Pretty good numbers, unless you're the 2%

All shards going down, it seems.

Heads held high, Europans, my best guess is we inadvertently assisted in identifying and/or remedying some particularly nasty bug.

If it was some unforeseen exploit, I sincerely hope they nailed the booger in addition to fixing it.

Umm I would have to agree, if this was not 12 years and how many expansions. You would think they might know what they are doing by now. :thumbdown:

Bugs and loss of service are inevitable.
Usually they don't strike this hard, but we got really unlucky.

The fact they're running an emergency fix on all shards says to me that they've been working their arses off trying to work on a general fix for this.

I agree, though. It does suck.
I had stuff I wanted to be doing this evening, player events and bits, but obviously that wasn't going to happen.
Although, I do recognise that this affecting Europa indtead of any other shard was something like a 1-in-25 chance. with the remaining 24-in-25 chances, I'd be training imbuing, probably only vaguely aware that another shard was having downtime.

sorry people, was messing with my shard of the gem of immortality combining it with blackrock and saying the arma spell.....only thought i would take out one shard at the time

See how you are... and here I was thinking it was because I just got home early and was going to play UO.... ha... what a dreamer!

Oh... and for being "naughty" and abusing the shard... I think that should be taken away and given to someone far more virtuous who would take proper care of that precious little world.... Yep.... *holds out hand* Hand that over!

Oh well.

GL hiccupped for about five minutes sometime around 12:45 this am then again around 1:00. I didn't think much of it at the time as I was very tired. Well, at lease i know the upgrade took and my garg was already sleeping.

Update 7:25 PM EST: The shard maintenance is taking a little bit longer than expected. We hope to have the shards back up within the next hour. We will post here when the shards are back up.

Well, I personally remember the birth of Malas, and spending 3 days trying to place a house in Luna...sometimes with success and sometimes failing, but always seeing the work reverted back to a time before the placement. Unless it gets worse than that, I guess I can be patient.
