REAL currencies use symbols like "S" with VERTICAL lines through them, or "c"s with vertical or oblique lines through them.

Well there're always Silver coins which naturally are several times more valuable than gold coins.

They really need to rethink this digital distribution download crap 
When companies give a release date for games your normally able to go buy it in a shop when it opens, at 9AM .. which was 2 hours 20 minutes ago in the UK btw EA!
Forget the download rubbish and get a CD out on shelves in the future

Having the game in shelfes would be great, just because of advertisment. But for an expansion it makes more sense to distribute it digitally, since then someone from say europe will have it the same time as the ppl in other parts of the world.

Lol, you wont be saying that later when they release SA and all those in the US are downloading it causing Euro servers to download at 3kb/sec
Digital distribution, imo, is a bad choice. Having boxes on shelves, as you say, would be good because of advertising .. which would hopefully bring in new players.
Some players don't have super speedy connections, I only have 1MB because thats the fastest available where I live, and when SA is finally released everyone is going to be wanting to download it and make it real slow

They haven't made it clear at all when exactly its going to be released. I just don't see the point.

Its like they try to wind us up on purpose and for a game with so few subscribers, that really doesn't seem the best idea.

Technically the Stygian Abyss *is* hell, so that wont really do much.

I bet if they would sell the game in shelfes, that USA and maybe Japan would have it before the other countries have a chance to buy it.
Btw I only have DSL 6k... and downloading the patch on sunday (the one most ppl moaned about) took me maybe hmm 5-10 mins.
I know this patch will be bigger, but I hope that most USA folks won´t be at home when the download is available *grins*

Its allmost 7am here in eastrn use, no codes up still. I was hoping i would get up and buy a code, and take a lil peak at SE before i have to work, but instead end up calling into work with a broken toe ( which i would break myself later to confirm my story) yeea that would buy me a day off to play SA

According to the Japanese UO Site, all shards should go down in about two and a half hours. Be down for two hours, when they come back up, SA should be available to buy.
They are also posting a warning that there might be a roll back and to log off well before and stable your pets.

To think about it, it makes sense. Everyone goes through their normal shard maintenance. While it's down, we buy our codes. Then when everyone is good and backed up, every shard goes down for the upgrade.
If.. :crosses fingers: there's some catastrophic issue, they can revert the shard back just a couple hours instead of more than a day, so that they can avoid those whiners who will be on these boards crying over loosing 1billion gold, and a bank full of server birth and event rares!
It just would be nice if there was some official word from Mythic USA for us. (and our European friends!)

We already got the patch - that was the big one we just had.

then I can go home from work,play with Elvin,eat dinner,wait for wife to be sleepy and then sneak away from sofa to comp and download SA.
But after all this years of UO I have learned that 2h down actually means alot more.

That wasn't the big patch, that was just some setup files.
The big patch is about 1.2gig and will happen in about 2 hours from now when all the shards are brought down.

Think that was a pre-patch;
"To ease the transition to launch day, we are providing a patch for players who use the Classic Client. This is an update to the art associated with the new content. We recommend patching the 332 MB download before Tuesday’s major update: Publish 60!"
Should be a big one again after the servers go down here in a bit.
