Did anyone get a Gem during the event?

I think its funny people think the EM's get paid. I would like to see half the whiners take time out of their oh so busy schedules to voluntarily set up events for a shard.

As far as I saw, there were no gems dropped on Catskills.
EMs do get paid, we were told this if u signed up to be an EM in the first place, they even say so when they make posts and are employees of EA

Have to go with in my opinion again, EM's in this event's seem to be using non EA employee's to set up time frames Use A stealther sometimes. Like milking A cow.
Phoenix, you do realize that the event was basically the same on all shards? So, it is not so far-fetched to imagine that some of the people on your shard already did the event somewhere else and hence, knew the mechanics of it. Spoilers were to be found even on stratics for those who wanted to read them. That is always the case with global events and one of the reasons, I dislike them.

Coming here and making serious allegations against people who are working their ass off to enrich your gaming experience, without a shred of evidence, makes you look not only immature but also a fool.

Having the events on different days and times as other shards I think is the problem. I think all global events should be held all at the same time and on the same day so people don't go to other shards and do then event and post spoilers or have an advantage when it comes time for their home shard to do the event.

PAS, think about that one for a moment. If every event took place at 8pm Virginia time, what time would that be in UK, France, Greece, Japan, Australia?

Either be lucky and have that time off or play more than one shard so that you have a selection of times. That's the way I've learned to do it.
I do the same. Still didn't work out though...I've got arse luck. Oh well.

Hence my other thread asking for schedules (and spoilers). Just generic ones like where to go (tram daemon temple, go into white gate when it appears), what to expect (fight with true SLs, Casca appears, sherry appears).

For folks that say they should be held at the same time, I understand your point, but since timezones are different, it's not really fair if a time was fixed, I mean what time should they use? Besides, please spare a thought for people like me. At least give me a chance to participate. I know it's only human, but it's never a good idea to punish the entire flock just because of a handful of black sheep ruining things.

I'm not demanding anything from EMs, nor sitting on my laurels waiting for them cater to me.

I'm not there for the items either, I knew from Draconi's post from the TOT SLs that there's gonna be 1 gem from each of the 3 SL to the respective highest damager, heh, I'm not delusional. I just wanted to participate.

The gems are only going to go to the "uber 1337" PVP hackers who know how to squeeze out insane levels of damage, anyway. At least 90% of the people there won't stand any chance whatsoever, and 8% of the other 10% will have almost no chance still. On every shard they will all go to big PvP guilds that are generally *******s to everyone else.

We can only hope that the shards aren't linked to our shards, otherwise everything will be going to hell for all of us very soon.
I really have to disagree with this :( The gems on Origin went to a necro mage using alchy and expo pots and an ABC dexxer in wraith form... so I havent a clue what you are complaining about... and I attended this event on Origin, LA and Pac.. and definately say you are wrong.

Let me tell you about the Event.... all were a "bit" different on every shard but not completely... and GL's all the shards went to the Dragon Clan... why? First off they were all spamming Armageddon... secondly... they are large and those who could tell WTH was going on alliance chatted it to everyone else...

And for further information refer to this post:

That's an ENORMOUS assumption on your part, Malag, and given that I was privy to our alliance chat, none of us had any more idea what was going on than anyone else on Great Lakes.

And... I'm rather offended that you think I was "spamming" Armageddon.

I agree with Eyes, one of the gems went to a newbi char on Europa who just made the char 15 min before the event with 50 hiding and 50 magery, borrowed 10k and bought a blackrock, went to the mage shop and brought 1000 gp worth of reagents and spells and begged for a horse. Gated right into the place where the named ones were and cast off a Armageddon spell and got a Gem. He only got the gem after he died multiple times.

I don't mind people who whine in these threads because it gives them a place to blow off some steam. But surely people must understand that to get a so called "event item" in this game requires many different attributes, i.e. skill, luck, patience, logic, and experience. Most people have a couple of these but when you have all of these the odds are in your favor big time. Is it wrong? Of course not, don't forget this game is created in the Land of the Free. The best will prevail. I applaud those who spent the time and effort to best their chances on getting one of these items in a legal way.

Oh something vague which means they haven't figured out what to do with them yet, but maybe if they have time later they'll code something in for them to do. :p

Just kidding! It actually kind of sounds like if you have good karma positive stuff will happen around you (positive karma creatures will randomly spawn around you?) and if you have negative the reverse will happen. Or maybe healers or priests of mondain will bow to gem holders...thats all I got. It sounds interesting though!
What they do is, in terms of "power" or "effect" is nothing at all, but to me, on a personal level, what they do is probably one of the coolest things they've put into the game to date.

If you double-click the shard, based on your karma/fame (not sure if it's one, the other, or both), you get to "see" the world within your gem, and see how it's doing. At "trustworthy," mine describes a world where human, elf, orc, and gargoyle have come together, living in harmony, their problems overcome, and for one brief moment there's a sensation of pure joy or something like that.

It's a very nice, very interesting way to handle the shards.

Of course, on the other hand, these shards also mean that Lord British is dead, since he took them with him into the Abyss, and years later, the Shadowlords are running around with them. That can't be a good sign for ol' LB's health.

And yeah... were it me, I'd want everyone who attended to have a shard. That's not how Mythic decided to handle it -- and from a differing perspective, I can understand why they did it that way too. It's a hard line to walk. I quite literally lucked into mine... and will never, ever, ever part with it, not for all the gold in Ultima there is. It's a very special, very RP-centric object that is really cool from that perspective. Sure, some may sell theirs for a couple hundred million or so gold... hopefully it will (as one of my friends reminded me I should hope for) end up in the hands of someone who actually cares what a shard of the gem of immortality really is.
