Stygian Abyss Pre-Order

I find it completely crazy that nobody at UO has thought to give more details on the release of Stygian Abyss!! I myself would like to pre-order my game codes considering I do not care about the special items you will receive for ordering between the 8th and 29th.

One post mentioned that you could pre-order now through EA Store. This is false! I just got off the phone with them and it is not available.

So... unless someone at UO actually begins to use their brain. It appears as though we will all be like a herd of lemmings attempting to download/buy/upgrade accounts all from ONE site all at the SAME TIME. Anyone else see the trouble heading our way?

At what time on the 8th will be able to purchase the upgrade codes?

Someone from UO please give more information so that we can plan ahead. More planning and more information will help from your site crashing and all customers getting angry.

I hope we can purchase at 12:01 AM on the 8th. It would be nice to know exactly when it will be available.

I'm the one who mentioned this. I spoke with Jason C. at EA Customer Support. He told me that I could, but suggested that I wait until the 8th.

You don't think it's a good idea to release it while all the staff creating and supporting it are in the office?

(I haven't been through many launches, but what little I remember seems to involve the servers needing a certain amount of hand-holding along the way)

I hope they handle it the smart way by allowing pre-order at least a week before it goes active in the shards. If not might be a very bad launch.

Keep an eye on the Herald for all of the up to date information about purchasing the expansion. All of the information will be posted there. Once it is available in the EA Store we will announce it there.

Two points:

1. Could you put on EA store 'come back on the 8th' or some such none sense?

2. There is a new world coming with this I think. Could you get the code for UOAM from Steve (fixed from Kri) and up date it for this new world? This is his web site:

If it is like the ML launch, everything had already been patched into the clients in advance of launch so they published the servers with the new pub-code, then started selling ML codes. Question.

The purchase with money is for the upgrade code in order to gain access to the expansion lands.

The client is free to download.

What about a player who buys the code but does not download the new client ?

Will such a player be able to access the new lands using the existing client ?

If not, what is the actual link from where to download the most updated (free) client ?

By the way, about the expansion code purchase, are there still problems with UOGamecodes and purchases of codes with a credit card ?

Last time I bought codes a month or two ago I was unable to using UOGamecodes even though my credit card works just fine to pay subscription monthly fee for my UO account.

Go figure why UOGamecodes did not like it but my UO account has not an inch of a problem with it.......

What's interesting is Devilsown posted this http://www.ea.com/games/ultima-online-stygian-abyss on the Legends forum. This DID have a pre-order link to the EA store, but now its gone.

So um what gives EAMythic?? Please, please, please, PLEASE tell me ya'll aren't gonna play "indian-giver"* with SA are ya?

For God's sake tell me you're not going actually "Stress-test" your phone system by having everyone purchase by phone starting Sept. 8th??? Cause I'm telling ya'll your phone system will go dooooooooooooooooooown from that many people calling in at once.

As for me I'm gonna grab my popcorn sit back and watch the show cause this is definately gonna be entertaining. LOL

Please note: The term indian-giver was coined in ninteenth century USA to describe how the US Government would give/promise something to the Native Americans only to turn around and take it back. This is the context in which I meant it.

I don't know why the don't go ahead and allow pre-orders and have people update their accounts now, and just have it where they would only be able to access the new areas after server-up on the 8th.

I don't know why the don't go ahead and allow pre-orders and have people update their accounts now, and just have it where they would only be able to access the new areas after server-up on the 8th.

I agree. I remember with aos everyone trying to update their accounts at the same time and it was horrible. It took me hours to update my account.

The problem is they have given you the information. SA goes live Sept 8 and you may purchase the code starting Sept 8. There is no pre-order on this expansion. This really SUXs for those people that will be at work when the codes go on sell. There will be no housing left in SA by the time they get home. When has UO ever sold a code for a new expansion when the date the code goes on sell and the expansion starts on the same day? I can already hear it now. Bata testers already have their spots picked out for their house and will have extra accounts to gobble up the other prime spots. You wait and see. Let the SnR begin. EA/Mythic I think you really blew this one.

If I remember correctly ML had about a month or less time to pre-order that expansion, and those that did pre-order received the charger as a bonus. Not sure why they didn't do the samething this time. It almost seems like they were unsure that it would be ready for Sept 8, so they didn't want to have people pre-ordering in mid-August and then be told that the release is delayed a month or two.

I seem to have read here on u.hall that housing wont be open as soon as SA launches. Back when Trammel was release, you could not place houses either. (Brings back great memories of the landrush)

Actually, the enhanced client is already patched for the new lands, since it is part of UO SA (but the client is free).

5 days and counting and not a word. We will hear about it when we read UOStratics on the 8th. I am getting a bad fealing that this is being pushed out the door before it is ready and everybody is so busy that they don't have time to talk to us.

Correct. but if you patch the Enhanced client now it will be ready for launch day We are also doing several small patches for the Classic Client. So it won't be so massive on launch day

They must have a reason... I can think of a few reasons they don't want to pre-order.
1. not sure what to sell with it.
2. They are not sure what they can finish by that date, they can not sell what they don't have yet.
3. Could be a cost factor in pre-ordering things.

Can be numerous reasons.

I personally don't care as long as it is a good finished product.
I don't have my hopes up... I think they would like to do away with the 2D.

They would lose all of us who can't run 3d as members. I've tried numerous times and in numerous ways to get 3d to run correctly on my system, and it takes me 5 minutes to move 3 squares. The devs know this and wouldn't take 2d away for that reason.
