I wasn't sure either. I just remember thieves getting guard whacked outside the bank where there were no npcs...

Was trying to kill a scripter in a bank vault as he had a cursed arti on. Got whacked but didn't see any npc guard calls in my journal.

Tested it out beforehand by taking a bride escort into a room of a house next door to another character, but when I attacked her she called guards herself which rendered the experiment useless. And I died.

kinda wish npcs would adhere to the line of sight model that pets and attacks go by. try killing scripters intown with poisoned shurikens or if your a mage, cast explosion off screen run up and target him then run! it sometimes works if ya get away fast enough to get out of gwack range.

Here's an idea. Stand as far back from any npc and flag on him from a distance. If you still stand you are free to charge at him and destroy him!
