ok, we all hate scripters, and we all hate the canned messages nonsense we get back

Now i wonder if we can all help each other, or more importantly YOU ALL help me (as the EA site winds me up as much as scripters)

the canned message states go to blah blah blah link page etc

but can we create a sticky page on UOHALL, with links to relevent pages on the EA site so we do not get fed up with endless pages

a example, heartwood scripters, i see the same people a few days after i report them, now maybe they are getting 72 hr ban, i don't know for sure, but, why are they back

if we create link to the relevent pages, that get read at EA we can see some progress

i know i am one that will spend time filling in the report, confident that it will get to where it should go ,and not the dumb fob of dept!


so what do you ,the good people think, and lets start getting links here to the relevent pages on the endless EA site

maybe Petra could edit and tidy it up, if i get some replies to EVERYBODY can start reporting as quickly and simply as possible

Maybe they aren't really scripting. Here's what happens. A gm will say "what color is your robe?" , or whatever he asks & we'll say Blue or Green. Then, he'll go away.

Most of us here don't talk to each other. I might not say anything here in 15 hours, or we might chat for 5 mins, and then go back to not speaking the rest of the day.

I KNOW a lot of these peeps are scripting, but a lot of them aren't. So, maybe the people you are paging on are just playing a lot of uo...

I was mining near an IDOC one time and some folks got annoyed at me for being there with my packy. Apparently, they thought I was cutting into their IDOCing profits.

Out of frustration, they reported me for script mining. Was I? Nope. Did the GM clear everything up with me? Yep.

My point is this: reliable peer reporting will inevitably be abused by biased players.

I believe the OP is asking for a thread to report suspected scriptors for EA to look into because the pageing option ingame gives canned responses with it seeming that nothing is being investigated and the same people doing heartwood quests and following the exact same paths 23.5 hours a day

I am not sure whether this is only a tale, but I have heard that some scripts are so complex that they can make a loud noise whenever a GameMaster shows up so that if the player is watching TV or doing anything in proximity of the computer they can go back to the keyboard to answer back to the GM.

The fight against scripting seems to need some ingenuity and creative ways to catch the scripters if such complex scripts really exist.

ok, either you are one of the said scripters or you have not seen them in heartwood

they are scripting plain and simple, i dont talk to others unless engaged first, and i am very happy to help however

1. through heartwood portal
2. PAUSE
3. walking pace on loaded beetle, SAME PATH everytime, come jump off moving beetle, beetle stops a few tiles away where you "land"
4. insanely fast quest completion
5. dump unwanted things in same bag, upon bag etc
6. jump on beetle when empty
7 PAUSE
8 walking pace, oh same path, note here, no slip into running mode, dont get stuck etc ,oh yes SAME PATH
9 through portal, NEVER MISSES
10 PAUSE
11 recall away
12 SAME AS ABOVE

notice how i say same path, oh and lands on the SAME tile everytime

SCRIPTER plain and simple, oh and the other scripters follow same PATTERN, why? cos its in the script library of that easy to find site

what makes me really laugh is if i try to "trap" a scripter with candelabras i can get banned!!!!! cos you cant use boxes or bagballs anymore as the script is written to remove them



so as per the thread title can someobody post the report page as i cannot seem to find it

i think many people will report "suspected" scripters if they could link to THE page and file the report without the flannel, unless webpage loops etc

so what i am asking, is if anyone knows where the final link is to file a cheater report i will be grateful for it, i get emails saying report and the links never work, or i never get a reply if anyone has a way of "getting through" then lets have it

i want to make a difference and get the constant cheaters removed from the game, the GM system is set up to fob off or frustrate you

And on a crowded day you´ll have 3-4 scripters standing on the exact same tile questing away. Not on one tile each around the trash can. Oh no, it has to be on the same tile. But of course they´re not scripters, they´re just real close friends... :loser:

ah yes you were both chatting while you were completeing quest, what yare you an octopus?

ANYWAY, as i said, this is not a flaming lets get it locked thread, it is an assistance required thread, there must be a direct page to file a report

and also, if i report you for doing as i mentioned above and you are not scriupting, then you have nothing to worry about

there was foul play at an idoc recently where a player placed illegally (in my opinion)
scripters in heartwood etc

if cannot be that we file a help request that oges nowhere, is this IT, is this the only thing we can do?

maybe we can have a reply from one of the DEV team, a walk through of how to file a proper complaint that WILL get addressed


on europa alone, a GM should, if they can be assed, watch heartwood and observe, and remove up to a DOZEN people a DAY

if they obseerve for 20 mins or so, no talk, no alarm, as popps said, and i do believe that is true, quiet observation, to see the program runnig and make a decision there and then, it is obvious

one i have found in the last few days, which i just love, move the dump satchel ,a few tiles and they sometimes follow it, and continue to dump unwanted items into lol not following a script though

Just because they don't talk to, this does not guarantee that they are scripting. I've attended many EM events and dealt with many annoying people. They are now on my ignore list.

There's just too much room for abuse and no credible way to know indisputably that someone is scripting - not in all cases.

Any "anti cheat" system that purely relies upon player action is inherently flawed and I don't support them in any way.

1) Can ANYONE show me a rule that says I HAVE to talk to any random person in the game? Someone PLEASE show me this. This is criteria number one some people use for determining whether someone must be scripting. I don't talk to random people 99% of the time. I'm antisocial.

2) Can someone show me a rule where I have to walk everywhere? This is a criteria some people use for determining whether someone must be scripting. As a former miner(quit due to random resource JUNK), I would often recall within the same cave because it is easier for me to make sure I'm in the right spot for a certain ore especially on low end.

3) Hitting the heartwood portal out or in most of the time classifies someone as a scripter? Outside, I've got a rune marked a straight line from the portal. Coming out, I can hit it 90% of the time. If you do something often enough, you can figure out where to be.

4) Human factor. All it takes is someone with a grudge to start false pages. Enough said. Seen/heard it happen way too often.

If you think a public "wall of shame" for scripters does anything, think about who does a lot of scripting? Temporary garbage accounts.

Lastly, if you believe the UO staff doesn't know where scripting is going on, you are very naive. They absolutely know but the GM's are not allowed to act on their own(this was told to me point blank years ago when I applied for GM position)

I hope someone is able to send you the link you are looking for. I do not have any such link. I have used the ingame reporting system in the past and have never been pushed to somewhere else to file the report.

Yes the canned response can be annoying, but it is there per the TOS to protect account privacy. When I report a scripter, I just view the response as saying "thanks for reporting, we'll look into it". The only thing i find bothersome is getting the canned response for an issue that cannot be fixed by a player. It is frustrating to have to resend the report after waiting for that response. I try to be as specific as I can, but sometimes it just does not help.

you do realize you can set up macros in UOA that you only have to click the item you want to make and it will make it the number of times you have it set up for right? For instance i have 3 macros in UOA for my bod filler....10, 15, 20..all i have to do is double click the tool start uoa macro, and click on the item i want made....boom it makes away and i am free to talk away while its making.....also works great for potion kegs except its a pain to set up the first time....

IP ban is a bad idea, mine cycles from a dynamic pool from AT&T. They might have to ban ISP's to ban one player via IP.

Just my two cents. Not everyone is cheating understood. If your stupid enough to run into the same bag ball/candelabra/chest/plant/wall for one hour you should be auto banned cause stupid should hurt.

And jack flash uk remember not to burn yourself out trying to mess with scripters it can drive you insane. They go 24/7 hard to keep up.

Might be worth noting that the enhanced client also marks items (which is faster than doing it in 2d), and that the deadly bolts quest is VERY quick to complete... =)

Some of us have better things to do then play UO Police.

Besides, with the greed in this game as it is now, things would be even more expensive.

yes i understand that, anless many many pepople are sharing the same "macro", there can be up to a dozen players following the same path, same actions, ie portal ,pause, talk etc, all doing the same, stopping at same spot? jumping off a moving beetle, no way

and of course through portal, recall away, come back full of wood everything is perfect, EVERYTIME sometimes for up to 12 hrs or so,sometimes even longer

Not only this in KR client I can select how many I want to make and set them to mark themselves as there made meaning all I have to do is talk to the quest giver select the quest, double click my tool if I don't have it open already and select the item or make last. Not hard to do by any means.

Über items crafted with runics would probably increase at least 5x from what they are now. Players would then start to complain about resource prices being non-affordable, how rich people have superior suits compared to them and how they can never compete.

one of the games biggest idoc scripters is out of the gam edue to the changes to idocs, so things can be done to make it unviable to script

like if oyu use a macro or script your chances of gems etc are zero, you have to be in control, like they should have done for ToT3 ghost tamers or script stealth tamers, tot 2 u had to be commanding the pet, so there is a way to overcome the actual need to script or buy from script vender

i have been told that it is near impossible to detect scripts via code,but you can tell something is not right when u see players behaving "oddly". heartwood is only one example, but when u see many players foing exactly the same thing etc like i posted above you know somethnig is wrong, now you cannot block them in a trap, like you could, the invis themselves so you cannot page on physical harrassment.

poeple ask, does it affect me, well prob not, if i need something i will go get the regs for it myself etc, i feel better about that. but why should another player set up a script, go to work, watch frm the desk at work, or go do something else while the script toils away, simple illegal and why should it bet tolerated?

I´ve got a surefire way to get rid off the problem. Make scripting legal.

How is that supposed to work?

If everyone can get their own resources while away from the computer and without fear of getting banned, no-one would buy off the scripters anymore (and with scripters, I mean those who are in it for the money), thus ruining it for them.

IS there really nothing left to do in this game? I mean if we are all sitting around looking for a reason to report the person next to us, the game will eventually close. Why? It would no longer be financially viably to keep running.

i have been told that it is near impossible to detect scripts via code,but you can tell something is not right when u see players behaving "oddly". heartwood is only one example, but when u see many players foing exactly the same thing etc like i posted above you know somethnig is wrong, now you cannot block them in a trap, like you could, the invis themselves so you cannot page on physical harrassment.

poeple ask, does it affect me, well prob not, if i need something i will go get the regs for it myself etc, i feel better about that. but why should another player set up a script, go to work, watch frm the desk at work, or go do something else while the script toils away, simple illegal and why should it bet tolerated?

How can you stop script hunters that turn to griefters? There shold be a false page flag option somewhere. They just page and page and page away. I get pages on sometimes 5 times a day when I do repetative task and much of UO is repetive tasks. I have to talk to each new gm on shift because everyone likes to just click that help page button freely without any repercussions. Wasting gm time on helping another person with a real problem. UO has to one day add a way to detect griefters. To detect people who false page all day long. Really has UO gotten so boring? There is always something to do in UO. Where do people find the time to grief.

My favorite ones the players that run around naked calling everone they see scripters and saying am gonna page on you and when you ask why are they naked running around they just do this chant SCRIPTER! SCRIPTER!. Trying to defend your self is useless they just either don't care or have abosolutly no idea how to play the game and forgot there in UO and not in WOW for the day. There should be a indecent exposure button somewhere
Oh yea how can you counter them well the rule is you suppose to move away from them oh great like that is going to work if you are busy at that spot that day. So what can people do we just ignore other people completly so then we are paged on being unattended great! There really is no winning.

The best "know they are a scripter" is when their beetle goes wild and they stand there for a long long long time and then run off only to return minutes later to retame the beetle. Did get a bag of free WOOD out of their DUH HUH.

The fact is it is to late to clean up the game. The money grubbers know the game needs the infussion of DUH HUH subscriptions.
