At what point can I begin taming and controlling these two pets?
cu is 102 to tame and 91 lore this gives you about a 2% chance to control and tame if I remember right

GD is about 105 and 95 I think

The minimum taming requirements for the Cu Sidhe is 101.1 and the greater dragon is 104.7.

You can go here: Animal Taming and look at you success to tame one (check the 0 pre tame button, since they are likely to have never had an owner before) and the control chance (check the control chance button) you will have at your skill level.

The stratics link I provided is one of the most handy things to know of for taming. You can also get to the animal's information in the hunter's guide. You can also sort the lists alphabetical (name) or on taming skill required (low to high).

It lists all of the tameable creatures you can find in the game currently. And it looks like the new animals from SA are being added as well.

Around 75 skill -- get two +15 taming jewels and the birds of brit talisman. If you can afford (and find) the taming mark of travesty, 65. Start looking for them as early as you can since it takes time to bond and it can take a while to find good ones.

Thanks for the link, Barry! :)

Ok, better question. At what point can I control these pets with a reasonable chance of them following my commands? I'm at 105 Taming and 104.something lore, and most of my equipment is geared towards making my character more "defendable" (it is not a PvP character, but I do want him to be able to fight back if attacked).

If you don't want to change your gear at all but have some headroom in skill points, raise your lore to 115. You can control GDs a reasonable percentage of the time at about 107 taming and 115 lore, then work your lore down as your taming rises -- that's how I did it. 110/110 is enough for 99% control of both. Cus are a bit easier. If you don't have room to raise your lore, I'm not sure number-wise, but you can get away with around 80% control rate if you're careful, and 90% is fairly safe. Looking at the calculator, that means you're fine now with a Cu, and will be in about 4 more points of taming with a GD.

Use the same link. This time choose Control Chance then enter your skill values. It will give you the % that the pet will listen to you when commanded. It is your decision what % is reasonable (if you don't mind feeding it more often).
