Blackrock is the reagent for the Armageddon spell used to defeat the shadow lords. Outside of events (right now) it has no use as far as I know.

Contrary to some of the info on those pages I linked to, blackrock infections has been turned off, and infected people have stopped hearing voices, and have returned to normal.
