After the release on Sept. 8th, will the original 2D client work with the new SA expansion, or will the "special version of the Classic Client" that we downloaded for the "Open Beta testing" become the official 2D client? Thanks!

My guess is that the "special client" (which has been set-up to only access Retribution) will go away, and the normal client in regular use will be patched up to the new patch/publish level.

People keep asking about what happens to KR. You might want to throw that in there as well...

Hi there!

Some more details :)
* The original 2D client will work with the new SA expansion
* We only have a "open beta" version of the 2D client because of map changes, etc, that we can't make live yet (or else we'll break a lot of stuff). That's why it's a separate download. Once we go live, your old client will patch up normally.
* We've started calling the 2D client the "Classic" client, lately

* KR will be replaced by the Enhanced client

* You can play the SA expansion with 2D or the Enhanced client
* Both clients are free

Recap:
* When we launch the expansion, the KR client and the 2D "special open beta" client will go away
* There will only be the normal, 2D client (that you've always had), and the new Enhanced client

Hurrah! Read it and weep KR Fanboi's and cheerleaders. The end of KR. Told ya it wouldnt last.
Well, I mean, honestly, the Enhanced client is the product we were trying to ship when we were making KR.

This is in no way a slap in the face to those who championed the KR client - the only reason the Enhanced one exists is thanks to all their feedback and dedication.

Only the delivery is different. It would've been possible to make small, tiny adjustments to the original KR client itself to bring us where we are. But in the context of what we were trying to accomplish, it was so much better to take everything good from KR and turn it into the Enhanced client, and implement the things that were missing.

Tell us something oh Glorious Flame Meister..
Is the Enhanced Client easy to program and adjust from your side compared to the Classic client?
Do you have new cooler tools to play with because of the Enhanced client that the Classic client lacks?

Curious to get some insight from the dev's side.

I can't speak for the engineers, but as far as worldbuilding and tileart properties go: zomg yes!
