Updating the Doom Artifacts

Let's face it, the Doom artifacts are showing their age, and to be honest, some of them already were out of fashion leaving the gate. To throw insult to injury, there's minor artifacts that eclipse the major artifacts.

Let's throw out some suggestions for updating the artifacts, little ideas that may peak the interests of the devs if they do ever look into improving some of the legacy systems again.

Here are my ideas for some updates to some of the more infamous artifacts, feel free to post your own:

AEgis - increase the defense and reflect damage from 15% to 20%, and the LMC to an even 10%. the strength requirement of 90 is a considerable balance to the increase with the strength of curse spells nowadays.

Berserker's Maul - I think swing speed is capped at 60%, even though the artifact is 75%. even if it isn't, i think the maul could use another property, like hit lower attack, though only at 20-25%.

Bone Crusher - Ah, the infamous bone crusher. i suggest swing speed increase of 30-35%, which would better fill the strength requirement of 80.

Breath of the Dead - I would increase the hit harm to 40%, and the spell damage increase to 15% for aspiring necromancers.

Dragon Slayer - increase the luck from 110 to 175, and change it to a reptile slayer.

Gauntlets of Nobility - increase the damage increase from 20% to 50%.

Holy Knight's Breastplate - change the reflect damage 15% to defense chance increase 30%. the strength requirement of 95 is a good counterbalance.

Ornate Crown of the Harrower - increase the hitpoint and stamina regeneration to both 5, and add mage armor.

those are my suggestions for now.

Make the helm of insight Mage Armour!

I would just add 1 fc to tge Aegis shield.

Dragon Slayer needs to be faster maybe add 30 ssi, And make the Slayer property Random, like Vermin, Demon... and of course change the name of it :p

IMO, the Dragon Slayer should only be a dragon slayer since the name is specifically "Dragon Slayer," a powerful weapon made to be used against dragons.

Now, if they were to change the name to something more general sure, change it to reptile.

Youll never make those worthwile unfortunatly,i mean a key example is the blade of insanity.

This was a good weapon in its day, very fast quick damage...but now its good for training.

I mean how sad is that...a level 11 arty only usefull for training!!!

The holy knights plate wow! just shocking! I hope they sacked whoever designed that one!!! The only way you could make that semi useable would be to basically make it the heart of the lion but with another mod...otherwise, what is the point!! Who seriously make a 100% Reflect physical damage suit!
Oh and if they do, who wants to cap out Physical resist!!!

AOF, inquiz, orny, HOM, spirit of the totem, jackal's.... Still some useful ones in Doom.

Well when you step back to think about it...we are talking the equivalent of 200+ poopy doom arties and 70 mil worth of other hard to get stuff just to make an entire suit that will eventually fall to bits.

I wouldnt say this is handing anyone anything. Time, effort, items involved.

If it brings more people back to check things out...I am happy. In the last month more than a handful of people (that I have known) have returned back to check things out again. This equals more players for the short term, and more for the long term if imbuiing goes right.

I like the thoughts of a guild imbuer...taking special orders that are filled first come first serve.

Oh and also the houses being emptied of useless crap fills my mind with hope of less lag

I think it would be a good idea to add new artifacts to Doom to bring players back there. In my opinion, that dungeon was meant to be "run" with multiple players. For the casual player, that means Doom is often out of reach because there is no one to meet up with inside the dungeon. The Gold Skull is also an obstacle which should probably also be removed (or other ways added to obtain the skull for lesser players). Again the goal would be to get people into Doom.

So my recommendations for items would be to leave all of the Doom artifacts as is, and add new ones. Now that Mondain's Legacy is universal for all, the Devs could easily add some formerly ML-only item types such as an artifact talisman, ML weapons, or armor. Personally, I would like to see the Conjurer's Trinket and Conjurer's Grimoire added as Doom artifacts. These fit the theme and would be good additions.

Every Wednesday we get from 12-23 players there... Catskills, 9 pm est...

i wouldn't add more artifacts, just because we already have a crop of artifacts with less-than-stellar stats, which could use a couple of tweaks to make them more appealing and competitive in the gauntlet.

here's another one:

Bracelet of Health - add stamina +5, and stamina regen of +10

If you can't accept the fact that someday your gear will suck and you will have to work to upgrade it, you have no business playing an MMORPG.

Not only would Ilike to see some of the artifacts revamped, I would like to see new ones added. I still like going to Doom and if new artifacts are added, perhaps more people would go there again.

Yeah... sooooo... we kinda just decided to add newer ones in SA so there'd be more reason to explore the content :p

Well it's definitely a tactical advantage for the Devs to make an entire PvM system fall into disrepair so they have to make brand new content, instead of quickly and easily jump-starting old tried-and-true content.

Oh I'm glad there's new stuff in SA, and I'll hopefully be there acquiring them and selling them at the Luna Bank.

Some of us just argue if you have some spare time (unlikely we know) you might want to revisit the older artifacts at some point.

Only a "might." Because it's arguable of course that enough of the Doom artifacts are still useful on their own, and those that aren't can be convenient ingredients for Imbuing.

For my part, I'm just saying that's a discussion you all should have if you haven't already....I'm not particularly suggesting the outcome of the discussion.
