*AHHHH!*

Peerless ingredients are NOT needed anywhere but there ... and I dearly wish that wherever that information came from would burst into flames!

It's not that it's incorrect info, it's just OUTDATED info... at least in terms of Imbuing... dunno about any other crafting though

ugh, I know Dermott. Its just that is has caused such an uproar since yesterday. I *do* know where the implication came from ... Chrissay forgot to update the ingredients table for the playguide when they revamped the ingredients and what she has there is from the first incarnation of the skill.

Its still very frustrating because people have been basing opinions and assumptions off that that outdated info that never should have seen the light of day :/

as long as the old bosses dont give other ressources then the so called peerles regs - this missinformation came from the officals itself! One in the retribution server that claimed to be a betatester said this was a planed big fake to fool the extremetraders and to have the BIGGEST GOLDSINK ever in UO together with some other important missinformation (that i will not talk till now; till everything is proofed).

a friend of me is really:cursing: . he said he waits what gets live. but if it stays that way he will have to quit because he borrowed extreme amounts of gold from much friends (hundreds of millions). and now will never be able to give them back to them. seems i lost 50 mio too hehe:dunce:

and the small group that knew all this before. only needed to buy up all the useless fungi and parasitic that could be bought for pennys and some weeks ago miningems too and will be billionairs in september hehe

I don't know who told you it was on purpose, but I assure you, that is not the case. Chrissay just missed it, was all. She was charged with compiling ALL the information for the entire expansion AND the new client into readable, useable playguides. We tried to help here where we could, but with the volume of information involved and the rapid pace at which some of it changed or is still changing, something was bound to get missed.

It seems no one notice that her playguide had the wrong information in that table until less than 12 hours of launch of the Open Beta, when I finally clicked on the link and went "oops!"

This being such a big deal, I made sure that I forwarded a corrected document to Petra to have posted here on Stratics as soon as I woke up the next morning. Yet, we are just mere mortals.

I am sorry that your friend made such a large scale investment and stands to loose so much. It is unfortunate, yet makes a very important lesson, that until something is released LIVE, that things can and will change, and one should never hang all their gold on one hook.

The only other thing that currently requires anything from the peerlesses is the Snake Charmer Flute, which needs 2 Blight.

That thread is almost a year old. I would never rely on year-old information for something like this because if there is one thing everyone should know, its that *THINGS MAY CHANGE BEFORE RELEASE*

Remember when they said SA would be KR accessable only?

There was a good amount of feedback from the crafters early in the closed beta that Peerless ingredients would go against the "pure crafter" ideal which is what made ML crafting a pain, THUS, they changed it to require the rare resources from resource gathering (mining, lumberjacking, fishing) and raised the number of those items to be used in Imbuing.

While those resoruces do not get destoryed on a fail, the drop rate for them is low enough that getting the needed pieces will take a while.

In short again, outdated information changed a while back.

kaldera - PLEASE listen. Information was *ACCIDENTALLY* missed when things changed. At one time, this WAS the way imbuing worked. It changed. If you were charged with documenting every bit of the expansion AND new client, while compiling everything sent to the feedback form, while chasing down info for every FOF, while moderating every post on an internal forum that has a couple hundred people on it, while watching the global community for any bits that must be know ...

maybe, just maybe, you might miss something too, eh? At one time, that WAS accurate information. It changed. She missed it. I am sorry for your friend, but that is what happens when you try to get rich off of something that is not yet set in stone, and will NOT be set in stone until September 8, 2009.

Ailish, i have no big problem with all that. i only lost 50mio thats peanuts. im more sad about some of my friends running crazy this days hehe. i not blame the mods. and not want to argue with anybody. and once again its not only the table its was info from Lurocian itself and the official sites.

@dermott
which of the listed stuff is 'loot drop' like they staded on the official sa-site ;)
and by the way im pretty sure some days ago the text on the site said special boss loot drops. it must have been updated last days. same with the repair informations.

it was one of the biggest gold-sinks ever. but for me personally its ok. i am not that involved than others. i had learnt from the last big expansions over the years :D

NONE of it. The plan has change since the official site was put up *many* months ago. It is too bad that they didnt update it ... but at the same time, its not the first time that a plan has changed after they published the official site. I think some of the "official" sites for previous expansions are STILL inaccurate to this day ...

Imbuing is still in flux.

The old statements from 6+ months ago are definitely obsolete, but that doesn't mean that the costs we see today are the final story.

Let me confuse you further:

His friend thought he recieved solid insider tips that a thermometers company will be making a new range of thermometers. Several months ago, they announced that raw materials will be required (see the link in kaldera4's post). Thinking that this must be mercury, his friend borrowed huge sums of money to buy up stockpiles of mercury. He made this gamble based on that outdated insider tip several months ago in anticipation that mecury prices will go up, then he can sell the mercury for mad profits.

Unfortunately, after some careful thought and feedback from users of thermometers, the company has now decided that the thermometers will use alcohol instead. It is much friendlier to use.

His friend now is sitting on a gazillion barrels of toxic mercury, which would not be in demand afterall. He is also heavily in debt and has no way of replaying his loan if he doesn't sell the mercury. But even normally, it sells slowly, with release of the new thermometers, it will sell even slower. So it will be a while before he clears his stockpile. Even if he does sell it, he might not be able to repay the loan as he might have bought them at a higher price than normal.

Because of a bad investment he has made himself, he is now comtemplating to "quit" if the company continues to make their thermetors using alcohol. No mention of whether he intends to repay his loan. Some suspect that this is a conspiracy by the thermometer company to lead people into buying mercury and cause gamblers to lose their money.

It's pretty unfortunate, but that's part of the risk of investing.

nearlly correct, except the important difference, that it was no insider info (insider info is what the betatesters and their friends had. they only needetd to buy all fungi and parasitic for pennys hehe) it was offilical statements and is part of the official website right now too:coco:

Ah, I was considering the officials as insiders and referred to the link in your post. In hindsight, yeah, my post might be a bit vague as eople would normally think of the beta testers when the word insider is mentioned.

Right, I'm sorry there's confusion, but many things have changed from what Leurocian may have originally stated over the last year.

Imbuing is a skill we want to get absolutely right, and we're still adjusting it even now. This is one of the real reasons that Open Beta is important: for UO, this isn't about marketing ploys, we need real feedback to make real impacts. :)

Another change we're seriously considering is spreading out the ingredient pool a bit. Right now it's essentially just a few, hard to get things. We'd like to see the reaction to spreading it out so various areas could contribute to the ingredient pool - including hunting/questing and craftable ingredients.

Hard to see this in a negative light.. more options are always good.

My biggest concern is leveling costs.

Traditionally UO trade skill gain has been segregated from combat. You can skill up almost any crafting skill to high levels with basic gathered or npc purchased materials. Talking strictly about raising skill here, not making advanced products.

Here we have a case where due to the relic part requirements, obtained through 'hunting' (combat). This leaves non-combat or weak combat accounts purchasing from other players. Perhaps this is by design as many other games have gone the way of forced combat to crafter interaction.

How will this work out? I am not really very sure except to say that on low population shards like the one I play, sometimes finding thing for sale, even relatively common items can be painful.

As to peoples thoughts about this change, give us a potential list or a list of the change. I am sure you will get plenty of reactions...

Just slap some rare drops on some hardish monsters as well, but not bosses. Like mini boss caliber level or something.
