I am just glad they the realized that the SA (Now Enhanced) client is not ready for release and have disjointed the SA content from the client release presumeably in an effort to resolve the problems that the new client is.
I want to know this too.

In spite of the link - the text is straight from the Release Announcement in the original post.
Only problems I've had with it are graphics related, and that's not so much of a technical problem as it is an opinion. I just don't like the low-res 2D style graphics.

First of all, they've been disjointed for a long time -- it was months ago that they announced you would be able to play the new expansion in the old 2D client.
Second of all, what will an "enhanced client release" look like? It's in what they call beta, and they will keep updating it, but one day they'll just say its not in beta anymore and thats that. Software releases are a lot different in the age of digital downloads. I miss my cloth maps personally.
So the only way to transform a current character into a gargoyle is if you pre-order? Also the gifts of multiple Alteration Tokens, do you just get those on one shard or multiple?

I'm guessing there will be a quest or something, the tokens just save you the time and effort of doing the quest or whatever.

Actually it wasn't until just now that they said that they intend to release them in different timeframes. Up until now (suppose you could speculate over the past 2-3 weeks) it has been pressumed that they would be releasing together. It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that they changed the name of the new client from the SA Client to the "Enhanced Client"
So...when's open beta??

For all practical purposes, the new client has been released.
Yes, they say its "in beta" but the release will simply be a post or press release that says "hey its not in beta anymore" -- thats it. No box, no additional download (besides the regular updates we've been getting) or anything.
It's been released, and its free.
The expansion is what everyone really cares about -- new content!!

Which others where there before Ultima Online that are still here, running ?
I had high hopes that Stygian Abyss would bring the Ultima Online box back on stores' shelves to attract more brand new players to the game.
Why will it only be available via UOGamesCodes.com and the EA STORE™ ?
Because boxes cost more. Digital downloading is far cheaper and less things to worry about.

Others have asked, but I have yet to see an answer, so I ask again;
Will there be any discounted bundles for folks with multiple accounts? While it is my intention to upgrade all of my accounts, it will be economically impossible for me to pre-order upgrades for all of my accounts at the same time. I would need Obama stimulus money to have any hope of upgrading them all at once unless some form of multiple account discount is offered.
Perhaps we could pre-order (with or without a discount) but pay the total as part of a monthly installment spread over several months.
Otherwise, I guess I will upgrade one or two and let the rest wait till better economic times (once the country comes to their senses and votes these liberal progressives the h*## outta office).

I really like the new client, but there are some functionality issues that I think should be addressed, as well as the Art.
I really love that we can set macros to recall from a runebook, but I really dislike that I have to use a separate runebook for each macro. This part will keep me from using the client specifically, myself. I like the art well enough, but it really needs polishing, IMO.
In addition, I have submitted bugs, too, that I haven't seen fixed.
I just hope that this will be their best expansion yet...but if they push it out without addressing some of the more show stopping items...then we may get what we have gotten in the past, as well.
We shall see.
As others have said, the client is not the expansion.. client will still be in beta; this is the content that's being released.

Well, it may in fact hold that title now. Up until 2008, M59 held that title in a lot of peoples eyes, although there is plenty of debate over what counts as 'massive multiplayer'.
If you don't count a graphical interface and think a few hundred folks amount to massive, then UO loses out to many text based muds and moos.
