Ok...

So here it goes. I'm thinking its time for me to stop hording info like a magician, and to start sharing it like a juggler... I am both things you see and the magician in me is mostly suppressed now and I think the UO housing community could evolve a lot if I were to share what I know in an easy to absorb way.

So my first question is easy should I undertake this task and bring to you all my years of deco secrets and tricks, or not.

My second question to all of you is how should I go about it Video is the method of teaching I'll be using, but I mean should I start as basic as I can and build on what I've already showed you, or should I just let you folks request info and do single projects. Honestly I'd rather teach you all the skills to figure things out for your self... but I'll let you have a say to help me decide.

Show me first! Just kidding! I think maybe a little of both...start with some of your most popular ideas and then do some tutorials on specific projects that people ask for an "how to".

Well I'll be working on that I think I know where to begin now and what not... but I still have to work out some important bits, such as finding a home to use for the tutorials preferably on Atlantic, and an account to go with it. If any one would like to donate to this cause please let me know. It would be a loan I wouldn't need it indefinitely but it might be a while I have alot of info to give to you all. And I might end up hunting down some items for some later tutorials. But I'll need to get the project underway before I can bother with that.

Thanks for asking about it, and the answer is a huge YES, PLEASE!

Such examples would be great, to let Sosaria become a prettier place.
Although it might seem a bit weird if someone steals your idea, in the end the person only wants to say "Thanks, I had no idea what to do, and your idea is awesome!" A friend of mine for example steals ideas on whole houses and rooms, but that's because he has no decorating skills (at all, and I mean really, "borg cube with chests lined against a wall and items locked on the floor" skills), and is happy to still have a pretty house.

Second question: I'd prefer pictures (step-by-step). But that's just personal preference, because they're easier to scroll through than videos, and you can explain between each step (which is also easier to translate, especially should you have a heavy accent of any sort ie).

Well as far as the examples go I guess I might include some stills from the video there will be text descriptions to go with the explanation and I'm from North West Ohio and I'm proud to say I have near perfect non regional diction, with out trying =) haha. but There are always folks with no access to speakers but I honestly may borrow a friend of mine who's done some voice acting and have them do a voice over or something we shall see I'll experiment but I need to find a location to work from first.

Since there is on "Who the hell is Vlad" choice, I voted yes.

I kinda have to second the request for the screen shots or stills. Videos would be hard to flip back and forth from while your in game trying to do what you show us. Just my opnion tho.

My thought with video is that once you see most things in UO deco I find them fairly easy to copy. Usually its the order in which they need done that is important. However it should be fairly easy once I've made the videos to then take stills from them for the screen shots. And I'm sorry you don't know who I am http://vladimirofatlantic.deviantart.com/gallery/ that might help answer that to some extent I've done a lot of other things but I've been a tad lazy on the picture front you could check the Atlantic news on the main page for the EK auction house but honestly even with my estate its just a faction of what I would like to offer you all.

Man you are braver than I am. I'll do little dinky write ups and meet people in game when they ask, but undertaking a big ol tutorial project...I did have a little idea before of doing a deco workshop, and maybe those interested could host on their home shards. Just something once a month for an hour or two where we can show people in person how to do stuff (I was thinking specifically of how to get the goza to pop up on those weird places in keeps and castles for making stairs and floors etc)

I like tutorials though, and I'd be happy to recommend some things you may not have thought of to do.

Sarsmi hehe I've always wanted to do something like that work shops would be a blast but the only real good way to do something like that would be to either have as many houses as we have people in one spot or to have the people here with me IRL. Both things not very practical. But once the project is underway I'd be happy to see any one who thought they might have something I'm missing. There are few things I feel I'd not be capable of doing on my own in this game but thats not to say there arn't things that some of you would like to do that I would not bother to think of doing. So that is an idea I am not opposed to.

And as far as hosting goes I am a Stratics reporter I'll see if I can host them here... But I will also probably host them on Youtube, and Id love to stick them up on some UO related deco websites too =) I want to preserve this info for as long as we can.

YouTube is great If you use that it would be easy for me to embed and share

UOHomedecor is in the process of incorporating all of the old CNC site into it, with the owner's permission as well as a few other sites too. It's just time consuming process.

i think that you should post the things you have done in the past with just the pic, and see if anyone can re-create it, its not as fun if you just show how everything is done. then in a week or two post how to properly do it.

but thats just me...

well thats an interesting idea blueturtle although I doubt that many people would bother even attempting some of the things... and I'd hate to have the weight of some of the lost deeds on my conscience... I could consider it with some things... Might find some other methods to acheive the same result that way I guess which might spark my brain down new paths.

I really like to try this and if you can just explain and put couple snaps then I will give it a go, I am not concern if I lose a globe or two as I have extras to play with.

Hehe, you could do a snowball fight. I did that with snowmen, and used white pearls as balls in their hands (also egg bombs), and then the flat snow patches on the ground, etc.

BTW does anyone else want to do a giant bowling lane with the globe and 10 of those skinny add on statues as pins? Just me?

I'm from North West Ohio also. I think it would be a great idea to do video tutorials. Maybe throw in a few picture tutorials, too. Those with dial-up aren't going to be able to watch video. Anything would be great! You have some of the best original ideas.
