As it stands with the lieutenants sash, the only piece of clothing that gets rid of the neck gap between robe/gorget and rune beetle carapace/gorget is the elven shirt. I don't want to play and elf but hate this gap!

I understand (somewhat) the elf only restriction for armor, but is it really necessary for clothing?

Oh Trust me I agree with you..... while they are at it..... could you please stop putting the armor sleeves OVER my shirt when the armor on my chest goes under my shirt? You know how ugly it is to have those sleeve straps go over my shirt?

Oh and when you do get rid of that silly restriction could we PLEASE make the crimson like the elven belt again? Or could you just make it so as an elf..... it shows as an elven belt and not that ugly half apron?

Elf only/female only clothing/armor restrictions are one of the few "legacy" ideas from the original UO that I really had hoped would have disappeared by the time I returned a year ago; strange that those, of all things, are still around even though so many other similar frustration-for-frustration's-sake mechanics have been eliminated (too many, maybe). I just can't bring myself to have all elven females as some do simply to powergame through things. Why do females, particularly, have the ability to wear all the "female-only" armor *and* all the "male" armor? All of the advantages and no disadvantages -- make male only armor, or eliminate the female stuff. Likewise with elven and human stuff (although this bugs me slightly less since human racials are generally better than elven ones).

Or, maybe as a fun idea, give tailors/smiths the ability to convert female/elven clothing/armor to male/human equivalents.

The fancy shirt works too, for robe neck gap - just make sure you dye it to match your robe.

I'd like to take this chance to mention the elven pants on my male avatar makes his ass look fat?

Elven shirt has this shading that makes him look like he's got boobs. Not simply moobs, but boobs.

And there's 1 combo of legacy/ML leather tunic/pants that leaves my belly button nakid...

What, you think it makes you look like Dora the Explorer?

("Then, one fateful day, Dora went off exploring without parental supervision one day, and was seen from then on only as 'Dora the child porn star', as the police searched for her in vain...").

Maybe they will make a special article of clothing to fix this problem, and make it available for purchase on the Japanese website :wall:

The fancy shirt doesn't work in my experience. It cover's it slightly but skin still shows requiring a doublet on top which is no longer possible if you use the lieutenant sash.

Well especially now everyone has ML the 'elf only' tag should be a moot issue.

OMG stop you all are killing me laughing......

And yes I've noted the combination myself..... Only... My feeling was ok.... this really makes my char look like perhaps he's had a few too many beers and now his gut is sticking out below his shirt..... hehe....

Moobs...... LOL....... yes I know exactly what your talking about there too... that's a problem when looking at paperdolls often..... It's like...... Der..... is that a guy or a girl..... Um..... *pulls the doll*..... Um..... der... I dunno.... what is it???

Especially if they are wearing a robe..... then I really can't tell half the time...

And I agree 100,000%....... get rid of that Elf only stuff.... and allow us the ability to "modify" all clothes and armor to be elven vs human vs Gargoyle..... should not matter...... we should be able to mix and match.....

Also... I wonder.... is someone on the Dev Team a Homophobe???? Is that why men can't wear ladies clothes????? I mean.... you have cross dressers all the time IRL.... stands to reason that they should be allowed to do it ingame if they want......

Not that I ever would..... but you know..... the female Elven robe is FAR Better than the plain Elven robe..... I like the look of it without the hood...

And while we are on that subject...... would it be so freaking difficult to add way to double click the robe while it's on to "put up or put down" the hood??? PLEASE!?!?!?!?

I was in a faction once... For years.... never ever played factions for factions... Did it to get the black horses... haven't played in Factions since they messed that up...

Honestly think they should give us black horses anyway... and while they are at it.. they could give us a heavy war horse too.... armor for horses...

But here I am dreaming again just like you.... so betting the earrings don't work for wearing women's clothes though now do they????

But they still can't figure how to wear hats.

I know my character wears the blue mage armor... from the turn in's.... and her tunic.. (which is akin to a normal leather tunic) goes UNDER her Elven shirt.... so the elven shirt shows over my armor but the stupid sleeves go over my shirt??? Weird how that works.

Yeah. I don't like the restrictions either. Free elf clothing! Yeah, could wear the earrings... but I really like my current earrings...

Eh, personally i think elves should be limited to elf-only armor, and humans to human-only armor. Creates a larger armor crafting market.

Why not add some male only armor in and perks to being neg karma?

I'd like this more than the current arrangement. At least then there'd be legitimate tradeoffs, rather than an outright superior choice of race, in terms of clothing. And there'd need to be male-only armor too.

Still, I'd rather just do away with these restrictions altogether though.

I somewhat disagree... there should be more race specific clothes and armor. Humans, elves and gargoyles are supposed to different shapes and sizes. With that said, there should either be specific counter-part items or other items with similar unique abilities. What is stupid was introducing elf-only items when ML came out (or whatever expansion) and no human-only beneficial items.

I can go along with this. I'm mostly just protesting the one-sidedness of the current arrangement.

Do you really think UO needs codpieces?
If it wasn't obvious, that was SARCASM :p. But still would be a fair trade off if you did that, that way theres a trade off from being male or female. But then again, being a male human would give you the best choice in terms of armor/arties. So we'd have the opposite of this debate in a little bit.

So...

humans cant wear elf only

males can't wear female armor

but did anyone notice that both women AND men can wear dresses?

Im not complaining, quite the contrary. My crafter cross-dresses all the time; I kind of think of it as his trade mark. My only complaint is that he'd really like to be able to wear a bustier...

Yeah. I used to think it was just cause LB was trying to be a ladies' man, but now I just don't understand how all of Sosaria hasn't been taken over by amazons, or possibly just blue elvish women.

I don't.

Remove "Elf Only" or add Human Only. It's just common sense. Why should humans get the shaft? Theres gonna be Garg only armor coming up with the expansion, so it's the perfect time to rethink the math, realize that 2 + 2 = 4 and add human only. (or remove all race restrictions from wearables)

As i've said all along...

Hide/Leaf/Woodland = elf only
metal(plate/chain/ring) = human only
Leather/studded = universal
