[UO Herald] Publish Update

[UO News]

This next publish will happen at your local shard's next maintenance cycle. The changes are:

• Fixed an issue with Ghosts being teleported out of the Champ Spawn area while a corpse was visible.
• Fixed an issue with Hirelings accepting money without actually working for them.
• Treasures of Tokuno and the Shadowlord event will come to an end.

So buckle up and takedown those shadowlords before they disapear!

Yes, but IMHO I prefer when the Devs balance the rarity of items so that they are available, but still somewhat unique/valuable.

The event went on so long the minors and majors, and even the dyes now are in over abundance. You may have a different opinion and think all items should be common, but I don't.

For a casual player who couldn't get on every day and then at most only for an hour I think the duration was great.

I loved when the SL came out because I had time to fight him once a day and was guaranteed an arty when I did. I knew he'd spawn just after 9:30 PM and that is when i could play so it worked perfectly. Never did get one of those cloaks but I don't particularly like their appearance anyway.

I was referring to the TOT3 events approximately 6 week run. Shadowlord duration was fine.

Oh I got your meaning. I just meant that the Shadowlords coming out made it even better because I could more effectively use my limited time. I was getting a minor every two to three days before the SL. Once the SL came out I got one almost every day (some days I couldn't get on).

I am in total agreement with you on this! I get to play about an hour a day (my lunch hour) so for ToT III to be extended for the length that it was gave me a slight chance of getting some minors. Thanks to whoever was responsible for the extension!

I refused to take any part in that chaotic and messed up spawn.

Thankfully, it is over.

I just hope that future Events will be designed in a way that prevents that horrible and chaotic mess like the Shadowlords spawn has been.

Personally, I found the excessively crowded spawn disgusting........

A way to avoid it could be letting special items spawn also past the Event, I would imagine this would reduce the packing of players all at once at the same spawn place.

And IMHO I prefer when the Devs allow players to enjoy the items and events they put in this game at a players leisure rather than on a time table or because people like you need to feel like that pixel crap needs to be worth x amount of RL $$ just to feel satisfied.

And IMHO, the ToTs should be left on permanently for Siege. The shards lack of item insurance makes it so that players need to be able to continually earn this kind of stuff. Other shards can just insure the items and use them forever... Siege doesn't have that luxury.

You may have a different opinion and think all items should be rare so a few dipsticks are the only ones to enjoy them... let a lone the brave souls overseas fighting wars or serving their country who can't even have the opportunity to enjoy this stuff and have to pay out the wazoo for a pixelated piece of crap when they return just to enjoy this game the way others like YOU are now enjoying it with your shiny new toys.

Rares should be deco based. Items that have practical applications should NEVER be given to a select portion of the population.

I gave up trying to be a part of that event - hanging around in a great swarm of people spamming armageddon and dragons getting ready to all kill the instant the enemy appeared really took away any edge to the story and, well, just wasn't fun.

(that having been said ... if you and others have enjoyed it then I am happy for you since obviously it has served a useful role to a portion of the playerbase)

I agree with you. There is nothing rare to hunt and own in UO. There will be for a period of time with SA. But eventually, all the new areas will be farmed to no end.

Well, I had fun watching players running around the volcano lava as well as running randomly at the other two shadowlord locations. If I could, I would map out their movements and may find out something interesting.

Of course, the event would be more fun if the shadowlord does the deadly area attack that they performed during the shattered crystal event - never seen a bigger mob and more ghost before. Another improvement would be making the armageddon spell blow you up if you don't say it next to shadowlord as it is supposed to be a dangerous spell anyway. I am sure that will bring players some delightful surprise.

I too have limited playing time. If it had not been for the extension I wouldnt have gotten a mempo. I loved the event and I loved getting out there with everyone running around..it was nuts. Thanks for the fantastic event!

Amen to that. Definately including the blessed uber spell books and ALL the faction toys along with all the other stuff from past events like the dread war horse.

I'm still shocked that faction players on Siege get to recall when noone else has this option.

Im not quite sure how you managed to squeeze in a reference about soldiors fighting wars overseas not getting the opportunity to get any arties...

I've never been on the front line myself, but I'm willing to bet that the one thing that will NOT be running through their minds as they stare down the barrel of a loaded gun is "I really hope the Treasures of Tokuno event is still running when I get home"

I think the Event was not well run and the Shadowlords things was for me quite disgusting.

I'd rather walk the stairs than enter an elevator packed with people..........

Events that are designed to attracts players farming all at the same time for the same items as if there was no tomorrow can only end up with that type of chaotic mess, IMHO.

Instead, if special items were allowed to continue to spawn in some ways also "after" the event ends, this would give to players the ease to hunt for them at their best convenience without having to necessarily pack up with others all at once.......

Those chaotic and messy global hunts are something I utterly dislike.

I had fun, especially at the champ spawn - I finally managed to learn how to use my necromage, and now I'm kinda confident I could deal with peerlesses etc (in a group). Plus I got around a hundred minors (mempos and cloaks included) and almost as many pigments, so maybe I'll even manage to make a buck in a while.

OH ya Also about 10% of the player base are merchents.

Perhaps Minax was just that much more magicly enept.
Or that perhaps, what we know as the armageddon spell isnt the TRUE armageddon.

I do feel however that the use of the spell armageddon should be greatly altered.
Perhaps a 100% chance of death to the caster. So that it doesnt serve a purpose for the caster but to help in the name of the greater good.
( and causing it to be used in only the rares of times)

No, we'll still be able to get threads and convert the cloaks. Draconi answered this question a few days ago when I asked it.

I got no personal Agenda, I simply care for the game and honestly would like to see it improve in those things which I have a feeling it is not doing well.

Last I knew, it is through criticism that something can get better, not with mere yes-saying all of the time......

While I think it's still a great game (otherwise I won't be playing), there are many things I don't like. I too, hope for certain things to be changed, I hope for a pirates expansion, for a gardening expansion, for a classic server, for limited-time event items to be made eventually available via other means, for better GM support, for better policing and many other things!

But if you review the way you present most of your posts, you'd realize that you have a penchant to focus only on the negative side of things. Although you are always polite (you never sink to using vulgarities and such, and I admire that), and always mention "At least that's how I see it", half the times, you often don't offer a chance of discussing and considering the other sides of the argument.

Yes, and I realize that some people are a tad unfair towards you, but making your posts in such a way doesn't entirely gain you supporters in your viewpoints.

Well, the claim was wrong, and they are still available (got all 3 types on my necro a half-hour ago). I just feel sorry for all my guildmates that were running around like headless chickens till dawn, trying to get threads to complete their robes, when they would have either been getting ToTs or SLEEPING, any earlier day of the week.
