I'd go .1 past the minimum taming (which is conveniently located on the UO stratics main page, under "Animal Taming"), and yes, you can reach it through Jewelry.

You can but wearing taming jewellry is like using training wheels on a bicycle. It stops you falling over but its very uncool ;)
*Rolls Eyes*

You be cool, I will be Uncool with my Greater Dragons etc.

But what is uncool is making such opinionated statements that have no relevance except to the self proclaimed cool guy.

I have a ring that provides nearly 40 skill points that are 100% functional for my peace tamer, Taming is 15 on that ring. So to meet some .... persons self proclaimed perception of cool, I should deny my template the 40 skill points that end up being 100% useful. Now lets see the rhetorical rebuttal that Oh my you could get the 40 skill points in some other combination of items that have skill bonus's (all the while being ignorant of any +- modifications this may make to resists and /or other skill bonus's) :danceb:

Here is a free clue to UO, it is NOT about the total skill points of a Template, it is 100% about the TOTAL FUNCTIONAL SKILL POINTS OF THE TEMPLATE.

You play your 705 total skill or what ever and I will play my 775 (100% Functional) skill tamers (the other one is only 765).

took me a few minutes to figure it out, but I now assume the reference is to: "so f**king"

I still think it's closer to couch potato in intent. but maybe I'm naive

It's a tough ask they're pretty big animals.

Jewelry? No chance - maybe handcuffs and custom ones at that to get round the dragons legs.

And you'd need a bed big enough to stretch it out on and the bed posts you handcuff it to need to be strong enough so it doesn't pull out i.e. made of concrete with 10 feet of foundations.

Hmm. my little ;) at the end of the post showed that I wasnt being serious in any way and was fooling around. You are the only one who reacted or took it seriously, no one else did. Lighten up and take that plug out ya butt.

Oh and thanks for all that stuff about skill points .. I never knew that. /end sarcasm/

Know what the difference is between your definition of a "real" tamer and "fake" tamer?

An insane amount of clicking and button mashing, or the exploitation of the GGS system over time.

There are two aspects to being an experienced tamer. First, there's skill in taming animals - lead-taming, peace taming, the right macros, the right timing, etc.

This is a skill you'll only pick up as a "real" tamer if, during your click/button-mashing, decided to make things even more difficult for you than necessary and tamed aggressives instead of passives.

This is a skill quite easy to pick up as a "fake" tamer as well, however - unless during taming skill training you tame aggressives, there is NO DIFFERENCE between real tamer and fake tamer concerning the quality and quantity of aggro-taming experiences.

The second aspect of being an experienced tamer is controlling your pets in battle - using macros, positioning yourself, positioning your pets, etc.

This is a skill you'll pick up as a "real" tamer if, during said click/button-mashing, you decided to make life more difficult for yourself by taming around aggressive creatures.

Of course, the best way to pick up this skill is by actually hunting with your pets. Guess who has just as easy access to hunting as a "real" tamer?

Seriously, people, this was why Enigma got so pissy when Siteswap made his little comment - this "I'm better than you" attitude that comes with the stamina to do more of what is commonly a mindless exercise of button and mouse-clicking so repetitive it boggles the mind.

Is "real" Legendary taming an impressive feat? You bet! I'm surprised I made my own character to 110 real, albeit with 105 to 110 being GGS. But the mindless clicking and button mashing to get 120 real taming skill doesn't make the person behind the tamer any better or worse as a tamer.

What makes a person a good tamer, in my mind? The amount of experience they get using the skills they'll actually NEED to hunt and tame dangerous creatures. If you trained taming on an aggressive, that same time could be spent by the "fake" tamer to hunt and tame the bake kitsunes, or rune beetles, or Greater dragons they'll need. If you trained taming around other aggressive creatures, a "fake" tamer could have been hunting Bake kitsunes, Rune Beetles, Succubi, Balrons, and a whole mess of other monsters that would develop the truely necessary taming skills of survival and success.

Edit II: Sorry, Wenchy, thought he'd deleted it rather than you move it.

In an ideal world all good tamers would have both skill, experience and tolerance of others who have different viewpoints. Especially when they're not here posting often enough to know what will or won't offend specific posters. Not that anyone should be on tiptoes around here to begin with...

Crafty could have made his point better, sure, just as Enigma could have. That's for me to deal with though. And to save further friction I'd appreciate it if you could remove the post I moved from yours :) Not much point in me trying to prevent further fighting by moving a post and you quoting it lol.
