Worth coming back?

I stopped playing around 3 years ago, I used to play on napa mainly. Anyways I really liked the game during its early years but pk got less enjoyable. So what I want to know is there decent pk and how is the game now overall? Also is the player base pretty large?

3 years aye? Pretty long ago. I'd say it's at least worth coming back to take a look at what's new and all and judge for yourself. I don't think the population changed too much in the past 3 years but that may depend on the shard.

If you are going to play on napa (assuming so based on your name) You will find the pvp to be very lacking, the shard over all population has probably remained the same over the years tho.

i rejoined recently. the game is very different than it used to be. i've logged 4 years of active play, but started 7 years ago. never was in to pvp, but i can tell you that the shard population of napa has taken a MASSIVE hit. cities are empty, hunting spots are usually open, easy to place a house lot almost any neighborhood you want.

with all that said, i'm still not leaving. the game is still fun, it's just different.

Pacific would probably be your best bet out of the west coast shards. It's got the highest population. IMO the population size is just right.

The PK is pretty much the same as it has been from 3 years ago, and the player base has shrunk. On the plus side, lots of 16x14's and larger can now be easily found.

9 years and counting for me and I still love UO. There is no other game out there for me. UO has everything I want PvP, PvM, RP, Design and Deco... the chance to own a piece of the game and call it "yours".... The opportunity to change the environment.... build what you dream....

Community... albeit getting smaller it's still there...

Freedom... creative freedom... freedom to hunt alone or in a group... freedom to build and design... freedom to RP in more ways than most...

And best of all..... you don't need a monster mega computer or budget to do so.

my sense is that the population is stable on a number of shards, but that pvp action is sort of shard dependent. you might want to poke around the specific server forums and ask about the state of pvp and xfer your character to a shard thats active with the type of game-play you enjoy.

1) I have been playing well over 10 years solid and still love the game so I would say that it is def worth coming back. But if I could give a bit of advice I would say that coming back just for nostalgic purposes would be a mistake. Most of what made Uo great in the first place is still there but you wont find it if all you do is pine for your long lost guildmates or want that exact same feel that you had on your first Uo adventures.

2) Don't listen to 'jilted lovers' like ColterDC who in their own words claim to have cancelled all accounts yet still feel the need to come to the boards and spew venom.
"game sux", "everybody in the whole world cheats except for me", bla,bla,bla.

Hey Jack,

I'd say its still a very good game. While I have only tried limited other MMORPG's I kept coming back here and this time reopened in 03 and still going strong. Lots has changed in the couple years but its still very fun, decent PvP and PvM. Some old faces and some new but good times can be found.
