I think the whole shadowlord portion is just a stress test for the new client. Why else would they have everyone go to the exact same tiny place at the exact same time all spamming armageddon at the exact same time? It doesn't make sense, they just want to see if SA can handle large amounts of data onscreen at one time.

oh god, I was on ATL to and my 2d client lost it at the climax of 100 dragons and the final puff of a shadowlord dying. Oh ya I got a 20MB connection and still got several large lag spike during the event so far.

HMMM try this on the 3d client, ouch, but ill give it a shot.

But yeah stress tesing makes since, IF you can get ppl to use the SA beta during a massive event, where they could be at a disadvantage.

I'll do my next run with SA though and if it works out ok, i'll use it for the final.

I think most portions of this story arch for the past year or more have been a test of some function or another in the expansion.
